Emma_B Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 ^ Aw Clare, all better now???? Anyway, wanted to ask how come you have to pick up another AS next year? I wanted to carry on four subjects (Eng Lit, History, French and German) to A2, but my school basically said I would fail, even though I was top in the year in GCSE and got 4 As at AS. They are effing liars - I worked 3 afternoons a week and Saturdays through yr13 and got 3 As, I could have easily done all 4, not dropped English. But I did earn a lot of money. I saved none, though, so I am very poor now, but I had such a good year!!!! The point I was trying to make is, how come you can't just do three A2s if you don't fancy any other subjects? ETA: Ooops, I came in this thread for a reason - Welcome all newbies, have fun xxx
Guevara01 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Computers will be the downfall of the world. I like my laptop - when it works anyway, but i can't do any fancy computer stuff! xxx ^ Aw Clare, all better now???? Anyway, wanted to ask how come you have to pick up another AS next year? ETA: Ooops, I came in this thread for a reason - Welcome all newbies, have fun xxx I have to drop my Law AS this year, i have no choice. They also suggest you pick up another AS to make up hours or something. I could have done 4 A Levels though. xxx
Emma_B Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 No, we were encouraged just to do three subjects in yr13. They tried to make me do 5 ASs though. I was not convinced.
Guevara01 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 They tried to make me do 5 AS as well because i'm on the A+ programme. I said no. xxx
Emma_B Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 They wanted me to do Philosophy and Ethics as well as my others - so basically, the three hefitiest essay subjects offered, plus two languages, which also have a lot of essays and a LOT of rote-learning. Umm.....NO NO NO!!!
Guevara01 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Lol, I think they wanted me to do Maths. No chance. I can't even add. xxx
Emma_B Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Yep, Maths was something else they tried to make me do. I still, to this day, do not know what ratio is, beyond the very basic (i.e. 2:1. 3:1). I don't think that getting a good GCSE grade in something means you can do the A-level, you have to really like the subject, and actually care what ratio is - I do not. I still add up using my fingers, for goodness sake, I couldn't do Maths.
Guevara01 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 I'm the same when it comes to Maths. Can you believe in my GCSE it took me 20 minutes to answer a 5 point question because i couldn't figure out the ratio of something. It turned out i had got the ratio right, but the two numbers i was supposed to be using were 3 and 7. I added it and made 11. What a dumbass. LOL : ) xxx
Emma_B Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 ^ That is me. Cool people do Arts and Humanities. Sciences are rubbish. As for Maths, well....
Guevara01 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Yeah, we're cool!! Woo! LOL, anyway, i hope you feel better Emma, i have to go now. I'm actually thinking of venturing outside tomorrow. Exciting stuff. Talk to you soon xxxx
