MarMar Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Is hypochondria really a recognised mental illness? you learn something new every day. I thought it was just attention seeking. A girl in school was a major hypochondriac and it drove me crazy! Hypochondria.

MarMar Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 I guess there is a difference between what we call "hypochondria" and "actual" hypochondria... How old is your sister? It might just be, as you say, that she is doing it for attention.
Skykat Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Wow I really didn't realise it was a mental illness, thanks for that Merc.

It might just be, as you say, that she is doing it for attention. She's 20 this year and has been doing it for a long while, at least since when she started high school. Mum and I used to roll our eyes at her, she would make a little sniffle seem like she has a flu, a really bad one! Then it would be all "woe as me!" I'd have a full blown flu and demand my mum not fuss at me, whereas my sister would milk it for all it's worth!
Mez83 Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Doctors and nurses make mistakes because they are human. This does not mean that they don't do their best. I agree. But I do think the ones at my uni are lazy and dislike their job! I'm off to sleep now girls (and nosey boys) Goodnight!
Elise Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Well Ladies, I am off to bed! Unfortunately I have work tomorrow and with all the late nights I have been having I am buggered!
