Jess Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Yeah, that's exactly how I feel. My parents can't understand why I'm so stressed about my GCSE's 'cos they're like, 'You did really well in your mocks, you'll be fine'...but it's just the expectation and pressure of having to do just as well (or in some cases better) in the real things. Arghhh....I'll be so glad when they're over and I can get my life back without feeling guilty because I'm not revising in every waking moment!
MarMar Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 I know a D is a pass, but there's just something, I don't know, *nice* ,about getting a C or above...and I think I just have really high self-expectation, I think that's half my problem.... Wow! I'd love more piercings but I'm terrified of needles (I've just got one hole in each ear)....I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to stuff like that, I'd have to have a general anaethetic, but then again they scare me as well, so there's no winning .....I really want the top of my ear done, but it's meant to hurt like hell and I don't know if I could go through with it! I know how you feel. I'll be ecstatic if I get a C on the exam I had today. I usually get bummed out over a B.. even A. I am never satisfied -. and yes, I know A is the best. I am just really bad at liking myself. Piercings: I had my second ones done with a needle in York, and it did not hurt at all (except for the little prick), but my cartilage apparently starts a lot higher than on normal people, so I guess that helped. The piercer was really fascinated.
Jess Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 I've been told by the piercer that I have funny ears, they've got an extra fold in them, so if the piercer goes in the wrong place, they'd go through two layers of cartlidge instead of one and so therefore this would hurt twice as much. Needless to say, this didn't help my confidence in the matter much!
Gypsy & Will Fan Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 My mum has peiercings all up her ears!
MarMar Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Penny: I have that photshop CD and will burn you a copy and mail it tomorrow. It's only Photoshop 7, but I can get a newer version if you want that.,..?
Liz Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 I am such a perfectionist and I know that my (often unrealistic) self-expectation can make me unnecessarily stressed and unhappy. (EG. I desperately want to get all As and A*s, which is not only fairly unrealistic, but also gives people the impression that I am egoistic, which I'm really not, because my self-confidence can be so low sometimes).
MarMar Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Know the feeling, Liz. I have been called many things because I am such a perfectionist. My self-esteem is really low, so I tend to think that the grades are the only thing I've got going for me.. I get upset if I get bad grades.
