Jess Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I'm also learning to drive at the moment, arghhhh! (Yes, I'm 16, and yes I'm driving, I get to drive a year early because I'm disabled ) My instructor wanted me to take my theory test, but I decided to wait until after my exams, because I have enough to cram for, without having to learn the Highway Code! LOL I have my grammar/lexicology/writing exam tomorrow, and I haven't revised a thing all day! I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine Merc, just like in the exam the other day! If you can't do it, no one can! BTW, just out of interest, what's 'lexicology'? :s 1) I got my driver's licence last summer.. Two years after I could. 2) Thanks! Lexicology is a speciality in linguistics dealing with the study of the lexicon. When linguists study the lexicon, they study such things as what words are, how the vocabulary in a language is structured, how people use and store words, how they learn words, the history and evolution of words, types of relationships between words as well as how words were created. Wow! It sounds awfully complicated!
MarMar Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 It's really fun, and it's the subject (+ literature) I do really well in...
Jess Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I'm sure you'll be fine in the exam tomorrow....I've got my Italian Listeming paper tomorrow afternoon, I'm just glad that we don't have to Lexicology in Italian (well, yet, I wanna take it at Uni, so I imagine I'll have to at some point )
Tamxxx Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Same here, My english Lit is AQA it contains Poems and Lord of the Flies. Good luck to all that are doing exams!!!! omg lol, Ive done that exam today, and I now the questions I will tell you if you want ;)
Penie Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Too late it doesn't matter because i think i rocked anyway. What question did you do i did Q4 Ralph at the ending, 23) poems on violence. I did Foundation because i am rubbish at English.
Tamxxx Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 oh I did a different one then because I did the Higher paper, and it was like questions about 'how threat of death is presented in the following poems etc, etc and you had to compare, I did Havisham, Laboratory, education for Leisure, and on my first sonne, I chose that one because I was running out of time, and I did short stories, I didnt do a book. Im good at English lit, but crap at English language lol especially section A on that paper, arggh I hate reading non fiction texts
Emma_B Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 It's really fun, and it's the subject (+ literature) I do really well in... I hate my Linguistics module. I have been revising all day, I have done ONE lecture. Out of 22. This is not a good speed at which to be working, but I find it so difficult, not to mention dull. I am sticking with history and literature from now on. Jeh-Jeh, I do French and German at Manchester, I'm in first year, and the only compulsary modules I have are the core language ones. I have 3 hours a week for each language - an hour of oral, and hour of grammar and then the last hour is called "written", but in it we read texts and respond to them, a lot like we did at school. The rest are free choice modules for me, there are about ten for each language and then I chose about four. But the people who just do one language have to do all the units, they don't get choice. Do you want to do just Italian? What other A-Levels are you taking? Or you could pick up a language at beginner's Level at Uni too.
Liz Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 What poetry questions did you guys pick? I did the one about nature.
Penie Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Yeah my friend told me there one i wish i would of done it. I choose Hitcher, Ed. for Leisure, Lab (mucked this one up oh well), The man he killed.
