It's ace! I wonder what Bush thinks of it all? He must realise, surely? I know Americans can be a bit absorbed in what's happening in their cwn country, but he must know?! :P

Marieh: LOL....they look, umm....*nice*

I doubt there will be much trouble with the new signs.. I read an article about it the other day, and most of them just change from white/red to yellow/red. There will also be sings for lanes reserved for cars with a minimun of 2 persons inside (to reduce rush traffic) and sings for automatic traffic control (photo boxes) + toll plazas: so that foreigners and tourists will understand them as well. Now the signs for that are written in Norwegian with no symbols.

I suppose Bush knows, and I think he knows he's a jerk too.. deep inside. :P

Very deep inside :P

That's what I find so annoying about English people....when I go abroad I'm happy to try and speak the language (OK, maybe Norwegian could be hard, but you get the point :P), but most countries still have everything translated into English. And English people still expect people to speak English. Yet everyone here expects everyone to speak English perfectly, and considering how many foreign people there are here, I don't think we make many provisions for foreign speakers.

Does that make sense? I couldn't explain myself very clearly...sorry....

Umm.. A little confuzled.

We went to Paris last summer, and neither of us speak any French, so, no the English are not the worst. The French refuse to speak English... get over it, I say!

OK, I'll try and rephrase what I was trying to say.....

English people expect everyone else to speak their language and have signs etc in their language. Foreign people (IMO) make more of an effort to speak English (even in their own contry). It just annoys me that we think that it is our god-given right to be able to speak English wherever we go.

Sorry my last post was so confuzzling :P

I get what you're saying, but seeing as English is the world language (at the moment) it's no wonder you will find signs is Norway written in English. Norway has less than 5 million people (less than 5 million people know how to read and speak Norwegian), while English has abot 380 million native speakers + 150 million - 1 billion second language speakers (foreign language speakers not included, which Norwegians are - English is taught as a foreign language in Norway, it is not our secind language).

I guess, but I do think that English people can be kinda arrogant when it comes to stuff like that, but anyway....
