katya Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 To be honest, I'm pretty grateful we have an NHS. Not everyone can afford private medical care, and there are a hell of a lot of satisfied people whose experiences with the NHS we don't hear. Of course there are problems, that's inevitable, but in my opinion, free healthcare for all regardless of class is a fairly good, if somewhat flawed, idea.

You are a very wise woman, but there is a load of troubles to be sorted out. I am a labour voter and will continue to be a voter of that party. We are in the trouble because the party is still trying to sort the mess out that the Conservatives left behind. It will take years to sort it out, but the NHS is better off with labour in charge. As the conservatives brought in Council tax, child support agencies for non paying dad's. Privatisation. The Labour government has been left to pick the rubbish up after they left it, and solve it.
katya Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 I've been called many things in life but a wise woman has never been one of them :-D. Thank you. I felt quite intelligent when I read that and then I continued to read the rest of your post and my eyes glazed over. Politics is not my bag, it confuses me totally. But, from my limited knowledge, I agree with what you're saying. I just don't know how to articulate it.

I have no idea what the system you are all talking about is,but i agree it's a good thing people can get help regardless of class.I assume it's something similar to Medicare in Australia.
Liz Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 No matter what problems it poses, the NHS solves a damn good few. No system will ever be flawless and never will everybody be satisfied by it, but the fact of the matter is, people are receiving heathcare which they otherwise wouldn't, was it not for the NHS. I for one, won't complain about that.
MarMar Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Really not feeling well today. Think I'm coming down with the flu or something. Have been feeling stuffy for the last couple of days, and ran a fever last night. Also think I'm getting an ear infection.
Gypsy & Will Fan Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Get better soon Merc! *Penny hugs Merc!* I am in a foul mood, I asked someone to open the door for me at the Job Centre as I'm on crutches, and they just said "Can't you do it yourself" No I bloody well can't what do you want me to do, fall over! You ****ing idiot!
Gypsy & Will Fan Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 And what made it even worse was the peoples face at the job centre, they looked at me like I was stupid, saying the questions really slow, and offering to write for me! What ****ing tosspots!
MarMar Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 They're not smart enough to know any better. Raise yourself above it.
