Perth is 2 hours behind Melbourne, and during Summer, they are 3 hours behind, as they do not have Daylight Savings, same as Brisbane (QLD). Brisbane, however, is the same time as Melbourne, as they are on the Eastern Seaboard, but in Summer they are an hour behind, as they don't have daylight saving.

So Melbourne is 9 hours ahead, and Perth is 7 hours ahead. :)

Yeah, you guys are lucky, as you have a reletively small country. But when you live here all your life (or a good part of your time here anyway), it becomes second nature.

South Australia (Adelaide is it's capital) is 30 mins behind Sydney, Brisbane, Hobart and Melbourne.

Sounds more confusing than it is. :)

We have Canberra, our nations capital, Sydney, capital of New South Wales, Brisbane, Capital of Queensland, Melbourne, Capital of Victoria, Hobart, Capital of Tasmania, Adelaide, Capital of South Australia, Perth, Capital of Western Australia, and finally, Darwin, Capital of Northern Territory. So that makes it 8! We have 6 states and 2 territories! :)

Australia is like America in a way you could say there is Southern Australia, Western Australia, Queensland and New South Wales (there might be more) so thats like California, Florida, Texas you could say and the capital would be like Los Angeles of California. I think, sorry if im wrong.

^ Nope, you are spot on! Most people think that Sydney is our capital believe it or not, due to the size, but it is Canberra, and most people from Australia (those not living in Canberra that is) think Canberra is kind of a hole! There is nothing to do there, not much nightlife, that's for sure! :)

Except we don't have a state called Southern Australia.

The States are;

New South Wales

Victoria

Queensland

Tasmania

Western Australia

South Australia

Northern Territory

Australian Capital Territory

The last two are territories, not states.

This is the size of Australia, compared to Europe and US

LOL! That used to be our Geography teacher's favourite question, 'What is the capital of Australia?' There are some very weird pronounciations - the favourite being 'Camembert' (as in the cheese!) :P

Edit: This was in one of our last lessons of Year 11, when we were about 2 weeks from taking our final exams! :P
