deadea Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 wow- thats crazy- and some really strict controls! I guess Ireland is a lot more relaxed. an idea (maybe crazy) but I am really into plants- if you are as well- what about sowing hypericum (you could probably get the seeds- I cant imagine any customs being that thorough) and drying the leaves and making a tea? I do it with peppermint and chamomile. just an idea
katya Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 I don't want it to be winter either, katya! Hmm...I've had the scariest few days at Sixth Form...the teachers are going on about Uni. and it's so scary! I've sent off for a few prospectii (?) but I'm feeling totally overwhelmed...if I hear the word "UCAS" once more, I'm gonna scream! And I'm only in Lower Sixth! I remember all that stuff as well. It kinda annoys me now, how much pressure there is on pupils to go to uni. I don't know what it's like at your school Jess, but at mine we were given the impression that uni was the only path to go on, and that to not go to uni meant you were a failure. I really resent it now.
claire_louise Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 It would get stopped by the custom - no matter where I got it from. I don't think it's legal to import it. I've found several online stores which carries it, and other, similar, drugs, but it wouldn't help when they declare it for customs by writing 'medicine' or similar on it. It's not even legal to import one can of Red Bull here. This is going to sound ridiculously patronising so I apologise in advance, but I find that exercise sometimes helps (if only a little bit). Actually some doctors over here suggest it to people with mild depression. ETA: You haven't won an avatar competition?? You've been robbed. I can honestly say your avatars are among the best, if not the best, ones on here.

I really resent it now. There was 16 people in last year's Upper Sixth (yes, my school is tiny! ) and 15 of them went straight to Uni. The one that didn't go took a gap year because she didn't get into Oxbridge...so as you can see, my school is very Uni. orientated. Don't get me wrong, I wanna go, but it'll just be weird moving from home and stuff...:S And all the talk of getting entries in etc, is so stressful! Arghhh!
Mez83 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 yep- St. John's wort. if you google it you'll get some really good info about it. I've been on it for about 6 months and that (and therapy I must add) have really made a difference. NO!! Don't take St John's wart!! It can cancel out your pill. We have some pills here called Mood busters. I found them good a few years ago.
katya Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 It's a scary time Jess but when it's what you want to do it's all worth it in the end. I kinda wish I could do uni all over again. I'd be a much better student.

Don't get me wrong, I wanna go, but it'll just be weird moving from home and stuff...:S And all the talk of getting entries in etc, is so stressful! Arghhh! The thought of moving away is probably really daunting, although I think most people get used to it pretty quickly. All of the other people in student accommodation will be in the same situation, so it shouldn't be too hard to make friends when you move. The other option is to go to uni nearer home. When I went to uni I didn't move away, I lived at home with my fiance. In some ways I feel like I missed out on stuff by not living in student accommodation and stuff, but I'm glad I stayed at home. If I'd been single I might have moved away, but that wasn't really a feasible option for me. It all depends on what kind of person you are really, some people find that they get on with most people, whereas I have very few people that I would actually consider to be good friends. For me, staying at home was probably the best option, but for a lot of people it can be really liberating to move away and gain some independence. Either way, you shouldn't be stressing about it yet. Just relax and enjoy sixth form, there's plenty of time for applying for uni and the pressure can often be a bit much, so try not to let it get to you.
DreamerCio Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 6th form has been alright for me. Today, I was playing Bull**** from 1:30-2:45. It was a fun game. I really don't knoe what I want to do, so I'm consentrating on my favourites which is performing arts and I'm hoping to get into the Royal Welsh Collage of Music and Art in Cardiff, because of a genetic problem, I've been advised to stay close to my parents(no idea why) that's why Cardiff. I don't know what other uni's I want to go to, but I have another year to think of that. I can't wait till tomorrow, I'm going to London to the Tate Morderth museum. Every one is like 'why are you going' and I'm like 'Because it's London'
