Marieh Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 I didn't realise you could get a test done...that is very very interesting indeed! I've heard about it, but don't think I can get one here though.
buffygirl Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 I think the pill killed my sex drive. I stopped taking it over a year ago, but things haven't really improved I absolutely had the same problem with the pill- NO sex drive whatsoever. In fact, it took about 6 months to come back after I finally went off the pill. You might consider going to a women's clinic and getting tested for exactly what pill you personally should be on. I dont think that too many people know this (its certainly not well publicized here)- but because hormone levels are different in different people, some forms of the pill are not suitable for certain people. Doctors tend to give one of four or five brands out as standard, and it may be that the pill you are on doesn't 'fit' you- if you know what I mean. that is totally right ^^. There various of types of pill ...suit others and not for you. As young women it should'nt stop your sex drive...it should be radeint all the way, the pill messes with the normal hormone ostresgene lowers the libdio..so you need to have a new type and blood tests done to see if its over-riding your system..
MarMar Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 The pill and sex drive: I used to have a sex life. Now I don't. The pill + depression killed and burried it.
buffygirl Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 The pill and sex drive: I used to have a sex life. Now I don't. The pill + depression killed and burried it. Real depression kills that side of the brain its to do with the negativity from chemical changes in the brain...the sex drive is first to go...in a sence its not but its how its really affects you The pill has got jack to do with it..
deadea Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 actually that isnt correct- 'Real' depression doesnt only come from a chemical imbalance already present in a person, it can also be triggerred by outside influences like artificial hormones- like the pill. Alcohol and other substances can also trigger depression, because over time our brains stop producing dopamine which is a natural 'feel good' chemical. unhappily, there is also a link between antidepressants and the death of sex drive.
MarMar Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Gah. I'm too tired to laught, but glad to see that my mind went straight to the gutter like in the olden days.
Jess Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Okay...do you girlies think that romantic relationships can work if you're already really, really good friends with the person? I'm so confused!
