Elise Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Or just do what my across-the-road-neighbour does......yell at them before they get to the door with a good 'ol F*** Off!!! They never go near the joint. Though, since we have Jehovah's Witnesses living next door, they don't bother with our court, particularly my house, since they know I'm the 'devil'. I trashed their house one time when I was 12.

I'm against how they are, last year 3 teenagers took their lifes *in one town* because they didn't want to say good bye to their families because they wanted our of the group.
Elise Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 I don't class it as a religion, more like a 'cult'. They have very strict rules and regulations, and if you don't adhere, you get disowned. When will these people learn.....
Skykat Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 I'd agree with that Elise. My friend Dan was bought up jehovas witness and he's only recently stopped following it since he got with his girlfriend Helen. Now we wind him up that he's only actually three because that's how many birthdays and christmases he celebrated. I think it's quite sad though, he's like a child at christmas, loves all the lights and things. I think that having a childhood like that must have taken some of the innocence away...I think there's something really magical about christmas and birthdays. Every year I wish I was a kid again so I could feel that same excitement, I feel so sorry for him that at twenty six he's only just starting to feel that.
*belle* Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Awww that is really sad Kat. When I was little I used to go crazy over the fairy lights and the Chrismas tree and everything, I can't imagine what it would be like not to have had that excitment at all. I have nothing against people deciding what religion and stuff they want to belong to, but when they drag their kids into it and take away precious things like that, it makes me so mad!
~Lynd~ Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 I realy don't think it's up to anyone to decide that JW'S are bad or weird people. We have our beliefs they have theirs, nothing wrong with that.
TabbyCool Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 What I find weird is that so many of us actually celebrate Christmas at all! How many of us are actually Christian. I wonder? I'm not, yet I celebrate Christmas. I don't think Jehovah's Witnesses should celebrate a festival from a different religion because it's not something they believe in! Most of us are complete hypocrites when it comes to things like Christmas and Easter, we don't believe in God or Jesus, but we still celebrate the birth and death of Christ, what's that all about? Maybe next year I'll celebrate Ramadan or something, it might be a bit of a change and no less hypocritical than celebrating Christmas.
robbie4tash Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 its because everyone loves chocolate and presents!
Guevara01 Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 ^^ Yes, but people could pick an entirely different day to give chocolate and presents. It wouldn't matter what day they celebrated on if they weren't religious. It doesn't bother me either way, what does bother me is when i want to go to church at Christmas (always fun IMO, only time i get to go), my family makes a big huff about it. I mean they technically are Christians too - not that they have to go - but it would be nice if they came with me every one in a while xxx
claire_louise Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 I have to say I don't mind people from other religions celebrating Christmas, as it's all about integration with the rest of society. It's like this thing with Muslim women wearing veils - personally I think that if you live in a country you should respect that country's traditions. So if people want to celebrate, why not? It's not like they go to church and pretend to be Christian, they're just joining in a celebration.
