Emmadolly Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 Great to hear about your news mez, congratulations. Mer regarding ST Johns wart, it is extremely successful with all forms of depression, i took it after the birth of my second child, as i thought the medication i was given by my GP, after the birth of my first child was a waste of time. As i had obviously postnatal depression , ( i started taking it after i ended breast feeding). But i do know that you are able to take it with the pill, but only certain brands, the brands i have no idea what ones, as i was not interested to hear, all i wanted to know was how quick they could get my hubby in to hospital to get a vasectomy lol. Hope this helps.
MarMar Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 It helps a little - thanks! I might pop by the pharmacy and ask if they know.
Emmadolly Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 It helps a little - thanks! I might pop by the pharmacy and ask if they know. I forgot to mention, that it does really affect the HRT, for older women, not that you are a older woman Mer lol. But i was really shocked last week, i know this is off the subject from the question you asked, but as Danica is now living with us ( my step daughter), she was having really bad headaches, so i took her to our GP. And he was going to change her pill, and when i new heard the name of the pill was i was shocked. As i was on that same pill 20 years ago, and had a letter from the local medical Authority to contact my Gp, as that pill was actually taken off the shelves.
claire_louise Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Mar, if you're unsure of taking St John's Wart it's always worth asking your doctor. I know you might not want to talk about how you're feeling in case he tries to put you on medication or offers counselling etc, but if you're specific about what you want to know any good doctor will respect that and won't push you any further. He might even be able to suggest some herbal alternatives?
MarMar Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 I haven't been to a doctor in years and I don't plan to. The best herbal remedy would be 5-HTP, but it's not an over-the-counter drug here anyone, you need a subscription. I've just ordered it over the net - hopefully it'll get through the customs. If not I'll try st.John's wort.
Pierced Musie Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 I have to ask, for my own sanity. Do any of you girlies go through craving and needing something right before and while you are having a period? Because I have found myself craving horror movies right before I come on and while I am having a period. This has been happening for about a year.
Marieh Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 ^yes, but not movies Chocolate, well candy! I get these bizarre candy cravings and if I don't get any I get sick And then it all gets worse becuase I feel sorry for myself
Pierced Musie Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Perhaps it is because I don't eat much chocolate or candy anymore. Maybe I have a bloodlust !
katya Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 I crave sex during my period, probably because I know I can't really have it then. Also, I get serious munchies just before it - I'll eat anything. Mine is due on Sunday and right now all I can think of is food and a hot man to eat it off
Mez83 Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 ^ I have the same cravings! Although, I only want sex the week before my period. Poor wee Joe has trouble keeping up some months.
