there were times when I considered permanently wearing a tampon just in case,

but things settle down.

Every woman is different, but talking to a doctor is a good idea, if only to out your mind at rest.

:o Thank god you didn't do it Liz!!!

I strongly recommend, no one ever tries to wear a Tampon, when they are not having a period. Also change your Tampon every 4 to 8 hrs. Always use the lowest absorbency to suit your flow.

Tampon Use and TSS

Toxic Shock Syndrom (TSS) is a rare but serious illness. It is caused by the toxins produced by the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus which is commonly found in the nose and vagina. TSS can occur in men, women and children. Approximately one-half of the cases occur in menstruating women and girls. Menstrual TSS is associated with tampon use. It is more likely to occur in teenage girls and women under 30 than in older women. Early recognition and treatment of the symptoms are important.

Symptoms

TSS can occur anytime during menstruation or shortly thereafter. It can rapidly progress from flu-like symptoms to a serious illness that can be fatal. The warning signs of TSS are listed below, but all of them may not be present:

High fever

Vomiting

Diarrhea

Rash that looks like sunburn

Dizziness

Some symptoms relating to periods

In general, if you have a change from your usual pattern that lasts several periods, it may be 'abnormal'. It is best to see a doctor if this occurs.

Heavy periods (menorrhagia)This is common. It is difficult to measure blood loss accurately. Periods are considered heavy if they cause such things as: flooding, you need double sanitary protection, soaking of bedclothes, passing clots, or if your normal lifestyle is restricted because of heavy bleeding.

There are various causes of heavy periods. However, in most women, particularly those under the age of 40, the cause is unclear and there is no abnormality of the uterus or hormones. Treatment can reduce heavy periods, and is dealt with in more detail in another leaflet called 'Heavy Periods'.

Painful periods (dysmenorrhoea)

It is common to have some period pain. You may have pain in the lower abdomen which may spread to the upper thighs. The first two days are usually the worst. Some women have more pain than others. Painkillers or anti-inflammatory painkillers usually ease the pain if it is troublesome. Another leaflet called 'Painful Periods' gives details.

The cause of the pain in most women is not fully understood. Sometimes conditions such as endometriosis can make period pains become worse. See a doctor if:

the pain becomes gradually worse each period.

pain begins a day or more before the onset of bleeding.

pain is severe over the whole time of the period.

Bleeding at abnormal times

If you have vaginal bleeding at times apart from your expected periods, you should see a doctor. This includes if bleeding occurs after you have sex, or after the menopause. There are various causes of bleeding between periods. One common cause is called 'breakthrough bleeding' which are small bleeds that occur in the first few months after starting the contraceptive pill. This usually settles over a few months.

Periods which stop (amenorrhoea)

Pregnancy is the most common reason for periods to stop. However, it is not uncommon to miss the odd period for no apparent reason. But, it is unusual to miss several periods unless you are pregnant. Apart from pregnancy, other causes of periods stopping include stress, losing weight, exercising too much (long distance runners etc), and hormone problems. As a rule, it is best to see a doctor if your periods stop for several months without explanation.

Also, see a doctor if your periods have not started at all by the age of 16.

Irregular periods

The interval between periods can vary in some women. Irregular periods may indicate that you do not ovulate every month, and the balance of the female hormones may be upset. See a doctor if your periods become irregular in your younger years. However, irregular periods are common in the few years leading up to the menopause.

Is the problem is whether or not you don't know when your period starts and want to be protected all the time, I suggest a menstrual cup as they can't cause TSS (silicone).

It's also a good idea to keep a record of your periods. I do it in my diary.

Why can't I stop believing that people can change? I wish I'd stop and realise what I'm doing every time I think to myself "Okay, things have changed now, they will understand what I mean this time" when I know that's not going to ever happen.

People will always let me down, and people will never understand me, and apparently the only thing I can do is get back on my feet and keep walking on. It sucks, cause I know it's all my fault, I try to change, and I try to trust people in a goo way, but as soon as I let my guard down and let anyone get any closer than I usually like to have people, they prove me right again. They always end up saying the wrong thing, even if it's just a small comment that doesn't really matter that much to me. The point is that they don't understandng and they let me down time after time.

I never thought I'd be someone to doubt who I am, but right now I do. Because I know that if I just stop having so much faith in people to change I wouldn't have to be let down time after time.

God, I can't wait to get the hell out of here. Sometimes all I want to do is just to get as far away as possible to somewhere no one knows me, so I can just start over with no mistakes. I told myself I'd start over in 2008, guess I've already managed to screw that up, so what am I supposed to do now? Wait for a new year? Try to start over tomorrow, and the day after that when I don't succeed?

Sorry, I realise that was emo and self centered, please feel free to completely ignore this and continue your ongoing discussion, I wrote this to get it out, more than anything else.

T just checked into his flights for tomorrow and printed his boarding pass, so, yeah... He's really leaving - no pretending from now on. Tonight will be our last night together for 54 days, most likely. It really, really, really suck.

I'm sorry Mar. But you know, he'll be back/you'll be there before you know it.. And look at the bright sides of it, he's nearly done now :) Just some months left.
