Pierced Musie Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 I have been told that 4 periods a year is enough. This was by the special nurse (treats my PCOS). Just thought I would share!
flyingwithoutwings Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 ^ Only 4? Wow. I'm so sick of waiting to be told what's wrong with me. I get humungous cysts, like, the size of melons. But then I'm told "Oh, but they're functional, they're normal." Uhm, hello? A 14 year old girl getting melon-sized cysts is NOT normal. -__- ugh. I've got all these symptoms, apart from the cysts, and then I've just had the biggest cancer scare, only to be told it's NOT cancer. Which is amazing! But then they won't tell me what it REALLY is. I've got all these horrible symptoms and no answers. If it's not cancer.. then what the hell is it? They're the same symptoms. Gah. Rant over.
Eden Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I'm so over my friends and the way they treat me.

If i was you, i would be getting a second opinion regarding your cysts. Once cysts reach 10 centimetres they are usually removed by surgery. It is not normal. I know i use to get them. They are so painful. It is worse if they burst.
flyingwithoutwings Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 ^ Thanks for that. Yeah, I'm onto my third specialist, a gynae-oncologist. Mine was 8x6x5, which is about the size of a small melon or so. Actually, I think it was a bit bigger. And yes, mine burst in about April, after an ultrasound. I was on the floor in crippling pain for two hours. It was SO horrible; worst pain I've had. Worse than the first time. It was agonising, like I was being stabbed for hours. Ugh! And once also last year, when they thought it was my appendix. My first gynaecologist was considering taking it out, but put me through 3 ultrasounds only for it to burst. And then rolled his eyes at us when we asked questions. Greaaaat help! -__- Then the second specialist referred me to another, because he didn't feel capable in dealing with my case. So now I'm waiting for my next appointment in November. It's ironic really, when I went to my GP at the start of the year, he put it down to Endometriosis, so we checked everything out. Then got told that 'no way' would it be. Then to be told AGAIN that it could be. Would these specialists make up their minds! Hah. They're getting paid hundreds of dollars each time I go to for me not to be told much, really. I guess it was worth it to be told that it's not cancer.. or that he thinks. Hmm, I'm at a loss. I have no idea. Just wondering, how did you get them to stop? I've been told that the Pill is the only way, but I don't fancy going on it.
grumble bum Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 I had no choice but to have my ovaries removed. I am much older then you so it didn't bother me.
suzannelgnz Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Sorry I know it's kind of personal.... Girly problems which I am over having Has anyone had experiences with going on the pill because their doctor suspects that they may have mild Endometriosis but cannot rule it out either? I've been going back and forth to the doctor wanting answers because I have started having the same issues again(in regard to pain, severe and ongoing cramping, fatigue, nausea) which I had when I was in my early teens. The first one I saw deemed it to be normal, gave me prescriptions to 2 different pain relievers, and said that if things continue to get worse I'll refer you for a pelvic ultrasound. I've used some of them and actually found that things were not getting better (but the pain was), so I decided to go back and I actually saw a different doctor this time round. So I told her about my situation incl. the issue I used to have, and she seemed to have a totally different attitude in regard to treating things which was good. They still seem reluctant to refer me for an ultrasound because they can't really confirm things via ultrasound, so they want me to go on the Pill for 6 months, then go back and they will reassess things in regard to how they will keep the symptoms at bay. The only thing I'm worried about is the side affects of the Pill I'm on. Hopefully I won't have the same issues with vomiting that I had last time, as it has less of the active ingredient which the doctor suspected made me vomit first time round. Please feel free to PM me if you don't feel comfortable posting here

Please feel free to PM me if you don't feel comfortable posting here Hi Suzanne! What Pill do you use? My gyno. prescribed me Yaz, which is one of the best on the market to prevent side effects like acne & weigh gain, and especially vomiting. I was in a similar situation with the Endometriosis, where they had NO idea if it was or not, and similarly put me onto the Pill, to stop the pain etc. I take it you've had a lot of ultrasound? Yeah, it doesn't really tell you anything.. which is really annoying. Anyway, does your doctor know about your worries about the new Pill? Maybe you should tell him/her. Have you tried it yet? I think you'd probably only find out if you tried it... & if you're effected by it, you could always go back to your doctor. Okay, well, that was a huuuge ramble. Fingers crossed for you!
