Chapter one hundred and twenty eight.

Irene and Barry were sitting in the reception waiting to go off for their first day trip. “Looking forward to seeing the sights?” Barry asked as he looked into her blue eyes. “You bet, I like to find out about other peoples cultures,” Irene said as she smiled up at him. Barry smiled at her and her heart started beating faster and faster.

Gypsy and Will walked towards them with Will pushing baby Lily in her pushchair as Gypsy carried Rachel. “Still waiting for the others are we?” Will asked as he put the brakes on the pushchair. “Yep, sure are,” Irene said as she peeked into the pushchair. “I don’t suppose you have a paracetamol do you?” Gypsy asked Irene. “Of course, your not feeling ill are you?” Irene asked worriedly. “She has a hangover,” Will said whispering as he pointed to Gypsy’s head. “I don’t, I have a headache,” Gypsy said as she looked up at her husband. “Sure you do!” Will said laughing.

Sally and Flynn walked in. “What happened to you at breakfast?” Will asked as he looked at them as he laughed. “We decided to skip breakfast and half an hour extra in bed,” Flynn said winking. “I wonder why,” Rachel said as she sat on Gypsy’s lap.

“I told you dad we weren’t going to be late,” Jack said as he put his shades on. “It’s amazing, I mean what were you doing in that bathroom?” Tony said as he shook his head. “My hair dad,” Jack said as he sighed. “Your hair!” Tony said laughing. “You can talk dad, you spent more time in that bathroom this morning, than you have all week, and why?” Jack said laughing, “because of a certain Beth Hunter.” Tony laughs sarcastically. “Daddy,” Lucas says as he pulls on Tony’s T-Shirt. “Yes son,” Tony says as he picks Lucas up in his arms. “Have you got Maddie’s card?” Lucas says as he looks into his dads eyes. Tony laughs. “Of course I do,” Tony says as he shows him the card.

Kit and Robbie walk in the reception area. “Here you,” Gypsy says as she hands them the card. “Thank you, you are a life saver,” Robbie says as he kisses her on the cheek. “Don’t mention it,” Gypsy said as she saw to a crying Lily. Kit and Robbie go off quickly to write their card.

Beth pushed Matilda towards the others. “Happy birthday,” Tony said as he gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Thanks,” Matilda said sadly. “Happy birthday,” Lucas said as he get down from his fathers arms and gave her his card. “What’s this?” Matilda said as she looked at the card. “Open it and find out,” Lucas said cheekily as his blue eyes shone in the sunlight that shone through the doors. Matilda laughed and Beth smiled it was such a long time since she heard that laugh. Matilda opened her card and smiled as she saw a hand drawn picture of a boat and Matilda and Lucas standing together, Lucas even drew the wheelchair. “Thanks Lucas,” Matilda said as she kissed him gently on the cheek.

Hayley and Chloe were walking along the corridor to get to the reception. “I can’t believe I’ve lost it, what am I going to do?” Chloe said as she started to cry. “Have you looked everywhere?” Hayley said as she put an arm around Chloe. “Of course I have, how could I of been so careless,” Chloe said as she buried her head in Hayley’s shoulder.

Kim and Jonathon sat down in the reception with the others waiting for the tour guide to arrive. “Morning,” Irene said smiling at them, “you weren’t at breakfast this morning?” “Nope, I decided that breakfast was less important than half an hours kip,” Kim said laughing. “I did to, because dad’s snoring kept me awake,” Jonathon added as he looked at his dad with a naughty glint in his eye. “I do not snore,” Barry said defensively. “Yeah, sure you don’t,” Kim said laughing.

Noah, Nick, Jade and Tom were walking down the opposite corridor to Hayley and Chloe. “I can’t believe you’ve forgotten Chloe’s birthday,” Nick said laughing. “If I did that to Hayley she’d never let me live it down,” Noah said laughing. “I didn’t forget her birthday,” Tom said smiling. “Eh?” Noah and Nick said in unison. “You guys really think I would forget the love of my life’s birthday?” Tom said shaking his head, “I took her engagement ring off her finger and I’ve bought her a nicer one and I’m going to propose properly tonight, on one knee.” “How romantic,” Jade said as she smiled at Tom. “How sickly,” Noah and Nick said in unison.

Chapter one hundred and twenty nine.

“I think this is your tour guide now,” Andrea said as she stood up to get a closer look. “About bloody time,” Nick said he folded his arms. “Nick,” Irene whispered sternly. “What Irene?” Nick said defensively, “if we can all wake up at 04:30 then he certainly should be able too.”

The tour guide walked out from the corridor and the girls just stared. “Well, he certainly is going to make this tour more pleasing on the eye,” Gypsy said as she pushed Will out of the way so she could have a better look. “You can say that again,” Kit said as she started to play with her hair. “His just a man,” Nick said shaking his head. “Not just a man Nick, but a very good looking one,” Jade said as she laughed with Gypsy. “Jade, why look elsewhere when you have the most sexiest man on the planet,” Nick said as he put an arm around Jade. “I think you’d find Nick, that I’m sexier than you,” Jack said as he straitened his sunglasses. “Your both wrong, when you see my body when we go swimming, you’ll know why girls fall at my feet at school,” Kim said cockily. “Get a room for your egos,” Rachel said as she folded her arms.

Leah and Vinnie walked up to them. “Have we missed anything?” Vinnie asked as he put some sun cream on VJ. “Just the boys, huge egos,” Irene said as she started to laugh. “What a surprise, let me guess, Nick Smith,” Leah said laughing. “Not just Nick, all of them,” Gypsy said laughing, “Leah wait until you get a look at the tour guide, he is spunky.” “Well what are we waiting for lets get this show on the road,” Sally said as she ran towards the door.

They had to walk from boat to boat by walking on a kind of plank, but Beth wasn’t happy. “What’s wrong Beth?” Tony asked as she saw Beth’s furious face. “How the hell am I going to get a wheelchair over that,” Beth said as she shook her head. “Don’t worry Beth, Jack and I will help,” Tony said as he squeezed her shoulder. “Thanks Tony,” Beth said as she smiled at him. “No problem,” Tony said as he unstraped Matilda from the wheelchair. “Come on then Maddie, grab my left side,” Tony said as Matilda grabbed his shoulder. “And you are very privileged, as I don’t normally let people grope me,” Jack said as he put Matilda’s other arm around his shoulders. “Come on then,” Tony said as he and Jack started to walk on the plank to get to their coach.

Irene and Barry were walking along the planks to get to the dry land, but Irene didn’t see the black metal short pole that the rope was tied on to keep the boats together, and she tripped over it and was about to fall into the water when Barry quickly caught her. Irene looked deep into his brown eyes and he leaned in very gently and kissed her soft lips.

Chapter one hundred thirty.

Barry and Irene pulled apart and smiled. “Wow!” Irene said as Barry pulled her up. “Do you know how long I’ve been wanting to do that?” Barry asked as he watched her walking through the last boat. “I don’t know,” Irene said as she turned around and smiled. “Since I first laid eyes on you,” Barry said as they walked out of the boat onto the dry land, “and any woman who loves Cheese and Pickle sandwiches is alright by me.” Irene laughed as she walked up the sandy steps to where the others were. As the others all tapped their watches telling them they were taking a long time. Irene and Barry smiled at each other and ran towards the coach.

“About time, what the hell were you doing?” Nick said as he started to board the coach. “Getting of the boat,” Irene said shaking her head as she too boarded the coach. “Where do you want to sit, Irene?” Barry said as he walked up behind Irene. “Anywhere you want darl!” Irene said as she turned her head and smiled at him. Barry sat down right at the front of the coach. “I can I please have the window seat,” Irene said as she clasped her hands together. “Go on then,” Barry said as he let Irene through.

“Jonathon, come and sit next to me,” Rachel said as she patted to seat next to her. “Ok,” Jonathon said as he ran towards Rachel excitedly. Rachel smiled at him and Jonathon smiled back. “Looking forward to the trip?” Rachel said as she looked into his eyes. “Depends, if he talks about boring stuff,” Jonathon said as he got his walkman out, “want a ear?” Rachel smiled and grabbed the ear and placed it in her ear. Rachel and Jonathon smiled at each other.

“I don’t suppose you want to sit next to me do you?” Gypsy said winking at Will. “Oh can I think about that one,” Will said as he collapsed the pushchair. “Well you better be quick, other guys would jump at the chance to sit next to me,” Gypsy said as she smiled at him. Will handed Lily to Gypsy and sat next to her. “Don’t do that!” Will said looking at his wife seriously. “Do what?” Gypsy said defensively. “That smile, you know how much that makes me wild with desire,” Will said as he looked into her eyes. Gypsy laughed and then did the smile again.

“Where do you want to sit?” Tony asked as Jack and him carried Matilda on board. “Next to Lucas,” Matilda said as her eyes twinkled as she mentioned his name. Tony and Jack smirked at each other. As Tony sat her down next to Lucas, Matilda smiled at him. “Hey,” Lucas said as he turned away from the window and faced her. “You don’t mind me sitting here, do you?” Matilda asked as she looked into his eyes. “Of course not,” Lucas said as he looked at her, “Wine gum?”

Beth and Tony sat together and Tony looked at a sad Beth, and squeezed her shoulder. “You ok?” Tony asked as he got a flask full of coffee out and offered her a cup. Beth smiled as she took the cup. “Now tell me what’s in that mind of yours?” Tony said as he looked into her eyes. “I’ve got to break my daughters heart this evening,” Beth said as she sipped her coffee and watched the tear ripple in her coffee.

Tom, Chloe and Olivia were sitting together, but Chloe was being very quiet and hiding her left hand. “You ok?” Tom asked as he put an arm around Chloe. “I’m fine,” Chloe said guiltily. “I’m sorry I forgot your birthday, but I make it up to you, I promise,” Tom said as he kissed her on the lips gently. Chloe just felt the guilt rise up, she just wanted to burst into tears.

Lucas and Matilda were talking. “So have you opened your presents yet?” Lucas asked as he chewed on his wine gums. Matilda shook her head. “I’m waiting until my dad phones,” Matilda said excitedly. “That would will be nice, I wish my mum could be here for my birthdays,” Lucas said sadly. “Where is your mum?” Matilda said as she turned to face him. “She’s in heaven,” Lucas said as she looked up at the ceiling. “I’m sorry Lucas,” Matilda said as she grabbed his hand and squeezed it. Lucas moved closer to Matilda and put his head on her shoulder and she put her head on his head and they fell fast asleep holding hands.
