Chapter one hundred and thirty eight.

Kit was outside on the top deck looking over the river crying her eyes out. “Do you want to talk?” Gypsy asks as she sits down on one of the chairs near Kit. “No, not to you anyway,” Kit say bitchily. “What is your problem with me?” Gypsy asks as she crosses her arms. “Just go back to your perfect little life,” Kit says as she turns around.

“Take me away from here,” Matilda whispered in Luca’s ear. Lucas stood up and took the breaks of the wheelchair off and pushed her away from the table. “Matilda,” Beth said standing up. “Leave me alone,” Matilda said as Lucas pushed her outside.

“You think my life is perfect,” Gypsy said laughing. “You go around acting like it is,” Kit said as she sat down at her table. “Well its not,” Gypsy said getting angry. “Aww, what’s the matter have you broke a nail?” Kit says mockingly. Gypsy didn’t answer she just slapped Kit around the face so hard you could see a hand mark.

Lucas and Matilda are on the bottom deck looking out at the river, tears pouring down her cheek. “I told you it was my fault,” Matilda said as she looked out sadly and she shivered. “It’s not your fault, don’t say that,” Lucas said as he walked round in front of her and looked at her and her red tear stained face made his heart break in two. “How can you know Lucas, you don’t know what its like,” Matilda said sadly. “Oh yes I do,” Lucas said as he sat down on her lap.

“You bitch,” Kit said as she punched Gypsy right in the face. Gypsy punched her back twice as hard. Kit pushed down on the floor and started to pull her hair. “So tell me why’s your life not perfect?” Kit said as she pinned her down on the floor. “Well where shall I start? I’ve been raped, had my baby given away without my consent, got my head smashed through a car windscreen, had a miscarriage, been an alcoholic, saw my husband shag my worst enemy in the toilets, I went into labour by myself, I had to face my rapist on my wedding day, found out my mum knew I was telling her the truth from 6 years ago and I tried to kill myself, if you think that’s perfect, I’d love to meet someone that doesn’t have perfect life,” Gypsy says as she pushes Kit of her and stands up. “I didn’t realize,” Kit said sheepishly. Gypsy walked towards the stairs to take her to the lower deck and then to the bar, she turned around and stared at Kit. “No you wouldn’t know, you just made judgments about me,” Gypsy said as she walked down the stairs. “Gypsy wait up,” Kit said running towards the stairs, “your bleeding.”

The others were in the bar still getting over the nights entertainment when Tom stood up and took Chloe to the middle of the dance floor. “What are you doing Tom?” Chloe asked as the stood still on the dance floor. Tom didn’t answer he got down on one knee and got a box out of his pocket and opened it up to reveal a huge diamond solitaire ring. “Chloe Richards will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?” Tom asks as he looks up to see the tear pouring down from her face. “YES!” Chloe shouts out as she jumps in his arms.

Matilda and Lucas were still outside cuddling. “I never knew my mum, she died when I was 6 months old,” Lucas said as tears filled his eyes, “I don’t remember anything about her, only what Jack and dad have told me, I have her blonde hair and blue eyes.” Matilda smiled at him. “I’m so sorry,” Matilda whispered as she looked into his blue sparkling eyes. “There’s no need to be sorry, it can’t be helped,” Lucas said as wiped the tears away from his eyes. “Don’t you miss her?” Matilda asked gently. “Everyday, but what’s the point in missing them when they can’t come back, I’ve got to look to the future,” Lucas says as he gets off Matilda’s lap. “What do you think I should do?” Matilda asked as she saw Lucas lye down sleepily on the sun bed. “You should forget about that no hoper of a dad, and show him what a beautiful, intelligent, young woman you are,” Lucas said as he sat up and yawned. “Tired?” Matilda said laughing. “Just a bit,” Lucas said laughing as he laid back down. “Go to bed then,” Matilda said laughing. “I’m not leaving you,” Lucas said as he rolled over to look at her. Matilda didn’t say anything she very gently wheeled herself towards the sun lounger, she put the brakes on and stands up shaking as she does so. “Whoa! What are you up to?” Lucas says suddenly as he stands up. Matilda takes one step forward very slowly shaking, Lucas grabs her hand and leads her very slowly towards the sun lounger, and she sits on it and he gently moves her legs around so she can lie down. He joins her and puts his arms around her to try and keep her warm. “Night Lucas,” Matilda said as she shut her eyes sleepily. “Night Maddie,” Lucas said as he stroked the hair out of her eyes.

Kit and Gypsy were sitting down on the top deck by the swimming pool. “I’m sorry I punched you,” Kit said sheepishly. “Don’t worry about it, I have to say you’re a very good fighter, no one normally dares mess with me,” Gypsy said laughing. “I’m sorry I didn’t give you a chance, its just I thought your life was so perfect,” Kit said as she put her head down. “Oh it’s just a face I put on, forget the **** and smile, works quite well sometimes,” Gypsy says laughing, “so what made you say that to your sister?” “I just feel sometimes people just think of Maddie, but its not just Maddie he left, he left me and Robbie as well,” Kit said looking at Gypsy. “I know that, but your 14 and know the reason’s he left, and I know its probably because of her disability, but imagine how she feels she is seven years old, in a wheelchair, has to rely on you for everything, getting ready, going to the toilet, getting up the stairs,” Gypsy says as she tries to imagine what its like for Matilda. “I know, I know,” Kit says guiltily, “I love my sister so much, and it hurts me when she gets so upset because our ****er of a father forgets.” Gypsy smiles at her. “Why don’t you go and apologize to her, and tell her how much she means to you, and tell her that she was angry with your dad rather than her,” Gypsy says as she gets up and walks down the stairs followed by Kit.

Back in the bar the others were all toasting the engagement of Chloe and Tom. “Jack can you go and tell Lucas it’s time for bed,” Tony said as he still hugged a distraught Beth. “Sure dad,” Jack said as he walked out the doors to go outside. When he got outside he smiled as he saw his brother fast asleep in each others arms. He walked towards the towel cabinet and got a huge yellow towel and placed it over them. “Night bro,” Jack said as he opened the door laughing.

Kit walked towards the sun lounger not knowing they were asleep and kneeled down by her, seeing her eyes were shut she smiled. “I’m sorry Maddie,” Kit said as she kissed her on the forehead, “I love you, oh and you’ve picked yourself up a stunning boy.” Gypsy smiled as she looked over at them. “Let’s go, I’ve got to apologize to mum,” Kit said as she opened the door to the bar.

“Where is he Jack?” Tony said as Jack sat down next to his father and the others. “His got lucky,” Jack said laughing. Tony looked at him with a confused expression on his face. “What do you mean?” Tony asked looking at his son. “I mean he and Matilda are fast asleep on the sun lounger, arms wrapped around each other, snoring their faces off,” Jack said laughing. “Aww,” Irene, Leah and Jade say together. “Well why didn’t you pick him up and take him to bed,” Tony said confused. “Leave them dad, I’ll come up before breakfast and take them down for breakfast,” Jack said laughing.

Kit and Gypsy enter laughing. “Wow! What happened to your nose?” Nick said as she saw Gypsy’s blood stained face. “And what happened to your cheek?” Robbie said as he saw Kit’s red cheek. Gypsy and Kit laugh. “Lets just say, I’ve found a top fighter,” Gypsy and Kit say laughing. “Mum, you should see Matilda, her and Lucas look so cute,” Kit says as she looks at her mums tear stained face. Beth didn’t answer her daughter she just stormed down the stairs to her bedroom.

As the first day finished and the new one began Chloe and Tom were on the top deck watching the sun rise. “I love you,” Chloe whispered to sleeping Tom beside her.

Matilda and Lucas were still fast asleep in each other’s arms sleeping peacefully, each of them realizing that they have found someone very, very special.

Chapter one hundred and thirty nine.

As the alarms went off again at four thirty, groans could be heard again except for Matilda and Lucas they were still fast asleep in each others arms, as the sound of the river trickled in the background.

Beth woke up with tears streaming down her face, she felt like she had let her daughter, the daughter she was so proud of, the daughter that now blamed herself for how her ex husband left her, the daughter she loved so much it hurt. Beth got out of bed and ran towards her wardrobe to get dressed.

Gypsy, Rachel and Will woke up at the same time, as Will turned over he saw the bruise on Gypsy’s nose. “Kit, certainly punched you hard,” Will said laughing. “Oh ha-ha,” Gypsy said as she sat up sleepily. “So have you and Kit put your differences aside,” Will asked as he walked into the bathroom. “I think so,” Gypsy said as she yawned and walked towards Lily’s cot. “Morning mummy, morning daddy,” Rachel said as she got out of her bed. “Morning sweet pea,” Will shouted through the bathroom door. “What are you going to do today, after the tour?” Gypsy asked smirking. “Hang around with Jonathon,” Rachel said smiling. “And what are his intentions towards you?” Gypsy asked jokingly. “That’s for me to know and you to find out!” Rachel said as she picked her outfit.

Kit and Robbie were getting ready for another boring morning of traipsing around temples. “Morning sis,” Robbie says as he puts his glasses on. Kit was staring out of the window looking at the river. “You ok?” Robbie asks as he puts his hand on her shoulder. “How am I going to make it up with Maddie and mum?” Kit asked desperately. “Your just going to have to bite the bullet and apologize,” Robbie said sleepily. “I know, I know,” Kit said as she moved away from the window. “And anyway sis she seems far more interested in Lucas,” Robbie said laughing. “And mum looks like she likes the dad,” Kit said smiling, “not that I blame her, dad is just pig ugly.” Robbie laughs.

Kim and Jonathon were sitting on their beds and smirked at each other when they heard the door open and saw their father walk in. “And what time do you call this?” Kim asked as he folded his arms. “And where have you been?” Jonathon piped up. Barry laughed. “I went out for a walk,” Barry said laughing. “Umm, and did this walk consist of going across the corridor, to see some woman, what’s her name?” Kim said as he clicked his fingers. “It begins with an I?” Jonathon said turning to face Kim. “Irene! That’s it, Irene,” Kim said clicking his fingers as he pretended to remember the name. “Oh ha-ha,” Barry said laughing, “can we just get ready for breakfast?” “Didn’t she give you any dad? Or was it just desserts she gave you?” Kim said laughing as he ran in the bathroom.

Jack & Tony were dressed and about to go upstairs to get Maddie and Lucas. “Isn’t it funny, that you at 40,” Jack started. “40? I’m not 40!” Tony said indignantly. Jack laughs. “Anyway, isn’t it funny you and I the oldest of the Holden’s, and we are in bed by midnight reading awful trashy novels, while Lucas is up on top deck, arms around a girl,” Jack says laughing. Tony laughs. “Talk about trashy novels yourself, mine is not trashy,” Tony said laughing. “Dad, it’s Jackie Collins!” Jack said laughing as they leave their room.

Leah and Vinnie walked into the dining room and smiled when they saw Joey and Tiegan half way through their breakfast. “Morning,” Vinnie said sleepily as he went to go and get some breakfast, Joey went to join him. “Do you reckon Flynn has told Sally?” Joey whispered to Vinnie. “You’ll soon know when you hear shouting and then a slap,” Vinnie said as he looked at Joey. “Poor Sal, I mean she finally gets her man, and then this happens,” Joey said shaking his head.

Leah and Tiegan are talking. “What do you reckon there talking about?” Tiegan asked Leah as she finished her fruit salad. “Maybe Joey’s planning to propose,” Leah said as she fluttered her eye lashes. “You think?” Tiegan said unsure. “I don’t see why not, he’ being secretive, and Vinnie seems to know what’s going on,” Leah said beginning to get excited. “I can’t believe it,” Tiegan said shocked.

Beth walked outside to see Lucas awake stroking Maddie’s hair out of her eyes. “Morning Mrs. Hunter,” Lucas whispered as he carried on stroking Maddie’s hair out of her eyes. “Hey Lucas, how has she been?” Beth asked as she smiled at the polite boy in front of her. “I won’t lie and say she is all smiles and happy as Larry, but she’ll get through it, with love and support, and me,” Lucas says as he kisses Matilda on the forehead. “How old are you again, Lucas?” Beth said laughing. “Six,” Lucas says laughing as she looked at Beth. “You’re a very bright, intelligent boy,” Beth says looking up at him. “Well I’ve had to grow up quick, I know what Maddie’s going through, but she’s going through a lot worse than me, my mother died and she had no choice if she sees me or remembers my birthday, where as Maddie’s father has a choice and that must hurt her,” Lucas says as he kisses Maddie on the forehead. “I don’t blame her you know?” Beth says as she moves next to Lucas. “I know, things will get better, as soon as Maddie realizes how she is a beautiful, intelligent, fun loving person, she will be saying dad who?” Lucas says as he squeezes Beth’s shoulder.

Nick and Jade were in the bathroom of their hotel room, Jade standing over the toilet being sick as Nick is rubbing her back. “When will it stop,” Jade asked exhaustedly. “Soon love, soon,” Nick said as he carried on rubbing her back. “I hope so,” Jade said as she looked up with tears in her eyes.

Sally and Flynn were in their room, packing their day bag. “Sally,” Flynn started. “Yes babe,” Sally said as she walked around the room. “I have something to tell you,” Flynn said as he patted the bed so she could sit down. “Flynn your scaring me,” Sally whispered. “It’s about me and Tina,” Flynn said as he breathed out.

Chloe and Tom walked into the dining room and smiled at everyone. “Here comes the future Mrs. Nash,” Leah said laughing. “I can’t believe you made me think I lost my ring,” Chloe said laughing. “Well, it had to be done, I had to stop myself from laughing when you kept trying to hide your hand,” Tom said laughing. “It’s not funny, I was ****ting myself,” Chloe said with her hands on her hips.

Jack and Tony walked up on top deck to see Lucas and Beth talking, as Matilda still slept peacefully in Lucas’s arms. “Morning son,” Tony said as he sat down next to Beth. “Hey Jack, hey dad,” Lucas said as he moved a stand of Matilda’s hair. “How is she?” Tony asks looking at Beth. “I don’t really know, Lucas knows more than me,” Beth says quiet sadly. “She’s ok dad, she just needs to feel she isn’t the reason why her dad left her,” Lucas said as he kissed her forehead. “Of course it isn’t,” Beth said as she looked at Lucas. “I know that, don’t worry,” Lucas said smiling. Matilda began to stir and she opened her eyes. “Morning,” Lucas said as he smiled down at her. “Morning,” Matilda said quietly. “Let’s take you downstairs,” Jack said as he picked her up gently. “Thank you for last night Lucas,” Matilda said as she grabbed onto Jack. “Don’t worry, I’m always here for you, whenever ever you need me,” Lucas said as he kissed her on the cheek.

A friend recommended this, and I am so glad that she did. It is so nice to read stories which do not include Jack and Martha, who seem to have replaced kirsty and kane as the couple every one goes barmy over. I have enjoyed reading this very much Penny. Well done and keep up the good work.
