Chapter one hundred and fifty nine – Irene the new Cher.

(Note, I won’t be doing Amanda in the story during the competition)

“What were you two up too?” Tony asked as he let Beth in. “Oh we were just chatting about life in general,” Beth said as she winked at Jack. “What about life?” Tony asked looking at her suspiciously. “That’s for me to know and you to find out,” Beth said as she knocked her cocktail down. “Spoil sport,” Tony said laughing.

“Now people, we need three people who remember the swinging 60’s,” the rep said as he looked around at the group. “Well, that counts us out,” Gypsy, Kit and Tiegan said laughing. “Well, I suppose its down to me,” Irene said as she stood up, and knocked back her water. “Well, I remember the sixties, and I’ve never really stopped dancing like we did in those days,” Beth said laughing. “And I can join in,” Colleen said slurring slightly after her dozen or so sherry’s she’s had. “Colleen, are you sure that’s wise?” Alf asked worriedly. “Oh Alf, I can remember the sixties like it was yesterday, full of hippos it was,” Colleen said as she stood up. “Hippos?” Tony asked laughing. “Hippies! She means hippies,” Irene said laughing. “That’s what I said!” Colleen said as knocked back another sherry. “Come on ladies, I have some butt to kick,” Beth said as she put her arms around Colleen and Irene and looked at Amanda.

“Now ladies,” the barman said as he looked at Irene, Beth and Colleen, “your challenge is too sing The Shoop Shoop Song by Cher.” Irene started smirking and looked over at Hayley and Chloe who were pissing themselves laughing. “What’s so funny?” Beth asked seriously as she looked at the song words. “Let’s just say, this is my song,” Irene said as she picked up the microphone and winked at her girls.

Colleen and Beth stood next to Irene with their microphones. “Are you ready girls,” Irene asked laughing. “Oh yes, I am always ready to wipe that smile of that bitches face,” Beth said as she winked at Jack. “And I’m always ready for a good sing along, you know what they singing is great for… I forgot what I was going to say,” Colleen said laughing. “Oh Colleen, you do make me laugh,” Beth said as she looked over at John with a smug grin on her face. “Come on ladies, lets do it, lets put the swinging back into the 60’s,” Irene said as she hard the tune start.

Irene as she sang this was up on there table lying down looking into Barry’s eyes as Colleen and Beth did the same but were looking into Tony and Alf’s eyes. “Bloody hell, Irene can sing,” Tom whispered to Chloe. “Yep, and this is her song,” Chloe said as she looked into his eyes.

Irene pulled Barry up and Colleen and Beth did the same with Alf and Tony, and led them to the middle of the dance floor. Barry put his arms lovingly around Irene’s neck. Tony put his arms around Beth’s waist, as Alf stroked Colleen’s cheek lovingly. “Aww,” Jade said as she looked at Nick.

Irene very gently squeezed Barry around the tummy, as Beth and Colleen danced around Tony and Alf, like they had gone back four decades, they were doing lots of arm movements around the eyes and lots of twisting. “Look at mum go,” Kit said as she sipped her cocktail. “She certainly putting Amanda to shame, Amanda’s rendition of I only want to be with you by Dusty Springfield was just painful,” Robbie said as he covered his ears at the memory.

Irene started kicking her legs out like she was doing the can can, Beth quickly followed suit as Colleen was about to do the same she saw the barman walk past her with a bottle of sherry on the tray. “I’ll have that,” Colleen whispered as she took it of the tray, and carried on doing the can can and singing with the bottle of sherry in her hand, Alf found this hilarious and burst into laughter.

As Irene stopped singing Irene leant in and kissed Barry so passionately it stunned Barry, but he replied twice as passionately. Beth and Colleen both leant in and kissed their boyfriends. John looked like he could jump up and kill Tony he didn’t like the fact his ex was moving on, but at that precise moment Beth loved herself again, Tony made her feel like a woman.

Colleen well Colleen was happy she finally realised that her old life wasn’t perfect, she was scared before of love and friendship as both had hurt her so much in the past, but now she had her Alf and she had finally found three friends, even though she had always got on with Irene she had never really got close to her, Colleens life was perfect now, but I have a feeling a certain Stewart sister isn’t going to be happy!

As the three of them carried on kissing with their arms draped around their boyfriends back, and Colleen’s sherry bottle dangling down, Nick looked at Irene and Barry and smiled, he was so happy for her, but Nick wanted to have a word with Barry. A son to the new boyfriend kind of chat. Barry better beware, because as you know, Nick loves Irene more than anyone, except Jade of course!

I can imagine Irene singing that song actually.... and carrying it off with great aplomb...good choice.

The hippos line was hilarious...and sooo Colleen... I am glad she is there too.

Chapter one hundred and sixty – Irene’s boys

Barry and Irene walked towards the table holding hands as Alf, Colleen, Tony and Beth walked off to get a drink from the bar. Nick looked at Barry and downed his drink quickly and he walked towards the toilets, where he met Joey come out of them. “You alright Nick?” Joey asked as he saw Nick’s squinted eyes. “Joey, can I ask you something?” Nick asked he pushed him back into the toilets. “Yeah sure, what’s up?” Joey asked as he leant against the door. “What do you think of Barry?” Nick asked him seriously. “He seems alright, why do you ask?” Joey asked laughing.

“I just want Irene to be happy, I mean after all she’s done for us, but she’s not as strong as she makes out, and I don’t want anyone to hurt her,” Nick said as he walked around the toilet floor. “You make it sound as if she’s fallen in love with the guy,” Joey said laughing. Nick looked at him weirdly. “She has Joey, and in a couple of days she’s going to have to say goodbye to him,” Nick said as he scratched his head, “imagine that you had to say goodbye to Tiegan and you know you might never see her again, how would you feel?” Joey looked at him thoughtfully. “You’ve got a point,” Joey said as he looked up at him. “Don’t I always?” Nick asked as he winked at him. “Is this a private party or can anyone join in?” Will asked as he walked in the toilets.

“We’re talking about Irene and Barry,” Nick said as he looked at his brother. “What about them?” Will asked as he folded his arms. “I was telling Joey how broken hearted Irene’s going to be when Barry leaves or what if he just forgets about her,” Nick said as he looked desperately at Will. “Oh Nick, she doesn’t love him, its just a holiday fling,” Will said laughing. “No its not Will, she loves him, really loves him,” Nick said desperately.

“How do you know that?” Will asked laughing. “I know Irene, we have become really close over the past few months, and I can tell when she loves someone and when someone is just a fling,” Nick said looking at them seriously. “How? Irene hasn’t had any boyfriends or flings since we’ve known her,” Will said laughing. “She has,” Nick said, regretting it straight away. “Who?” Joey and Will said in unison shocked.

“It doesn’t matter who, but I knew that it was just a fling as she was crying and in a right state, this is love, she is looking like how Gypsy looks at you Will, or how Tiegan looks at you Joey, how Jade looks at me, she loves him,” Nick said as he banged his head against the wall. “OK, what do you want to do then, Nick?” Joey asked as he put a hand on Nicks shoulder. “I suggest we talk to Barry, boyfriend to sons,” Nick said as he turned around. “Fine, we’ll do that then,” Will said as he walked out, with Nick and Joey following.

The others were sitting at the table drinking their cocktails when they saw the others walk towards them looking serious. “Is everything alright?” Irene asked concerned. “Fine, absolutely fine, we just want to buy Barry a drink,” Joey said as he looked at Barry. “Yeah sure, I’ll come with you,” Barry said as he knew what they were going to do and he chuckled to himself. “I think my sons are going to give you the son to boyfriend talk,” Irene said laughing. “I can handle it,” Barry said laughing as he walked outside towards the boys.

Nick, Joey and Will were sitting at the same table Beth and Jack were talking at earlier in the evening. “So what’s this about?” Barry asked as he sat down. “Its about Irene,” Nick said as he sipped his drink. “I gathered that,” Barry said laughing. “Look, Irene means a lot to us,” Will said as he looked at Barry. “She means a lot to me too,” Barry said truthfully. “Yeah, but your going to leave her soon, your going to go back on that plane, and after the journey your going to say ‘bye Irene, thanks for the sex, its been nice knowing you’,” Nick said getting angry. “Nick!” Joey said as he looked at him shocked.

“Nick, its not going to be like that, I care for your mother very deeply,” Barry said as he looked at Nick. “I bet its not as much as I care for her,” Nick said as he looked up and stared at him. “It probably isn’t as much, but I love her, I love the way she speaks her mind, I love the way she talks about her family all the time, I love the way she sings in the shower at the top of her voice, even if your fast asleep and it wakes you up, I love the way she’s always fun and bubbly,” Barry said as he stared into space as he talked about Irene.

“You really like her, don’t you?” Joey asked seriously. “Yeah I do, and I like all your guys,” Barry said smiling. “OK, OK, you’ve proved to us you love her, but what about after the holiday?” Nick said determined not to get side tracked. “I will come up every weekend to see her,” Barry said seriously. “Really?” Nick asked not believing him. “Really, I will be at her house Friday night at six on the dot, if I’m not you can shoot me,” Barry said laughing. Nick looked at him and smiled.

“OK, you’ve passed our test, but I’m going to say something to you,” Nick said as he sipped his drink and looked at Will and Joey. “Say what?” Barry asked getting worried. “Irene is the world to us, she took us in when no one else would, she is the person that’s been there for us, through every tear, every break-up, every pregnancy, every wedding, and if you hurt her I swear you’ll regret it,” Nick said as he pointed at Barry. Will and Joey nodded. Barry laughed. “You three would beat me up?” Barry asked laughing. “No not us, we have a secret weapon,” Nick said laughing. “We do?” Will and Joey ask shocked. “Yep, Gypsy!” Nick said smiling smugly, “and you wouldn’t mess with her would you Barry?” Barry looked at him. “No I certainly wouldn’t,” Barry said laughing.

“Right then, welcome to the family,” Will said as he extended his hand for Barry to shake which he did. “Yep welcome,” Joey said as he got up and shook his hand. Will and Joey walked back into the bar. “Welcome to the family dad,” Nick said as he walked into the bar winking at Barry, “oh and the next drinks are on you!” Barry looked at him and laughed.

Nick sat down next to Irene as Barry ordered the drinks. “You didn’t give him a hard time, did you?” Irene asked Nick seriously. “No, I never give people a hard time!” Nick said jokingly. Irene laughed. “I mean it Nick, what did you say?” Irene asked as she looked at him seriously. “We just said how much we love you, and how we love you and want you to be happy, but if he hurts you he’d have me to deal with,” Nick said as he winked at Joey and Will. “No actually he said he would set Gypsy on him,” Will said laughing. “Why are you guys making me out to be some sort of fighting machine?” Gypsy asked indigently.

As the others were in their own little discussions, Irene and Nick were talking. “Shortie, you know I’m a big girl and can look after myself,” Irene said as she took a sip of water. “I know you are, I just love you and don’t want anything to happen to you, because if anything happened to you, I don’t know what I would do,” Nick said as he looked at her. “Nothing is going to happen to me,” Irene said laughing. “Irene, I’m so glad we found you,” Nick said as he smiled at her. “I am too,” Irene said as she cuddled him. “Thanks for everything mum,” Nick said as he cuddled her back. “Your welcome, I would do anything for you lot,” Irene said as she kissed him on the head. “And I’d do anything for you,” Nick said as he smiled at her.

Irene and Nick were really close now, and it was good that they were as Nick was going to need her in the few months time as he was going to reach rock bottom. Nick Smith was also going to be saving Irene from a place she never wanted to go back too, and when Nick finds the culprit, all hell breaks lose especially when the Angels get involved.
