Are they your first icons?!

You don't need to improve much. They are all fantastic.

Merc doth return. And I still see you've got that flair! They are so vastly different to the last ones you made, yet they are still great. The colouring is almost harsh, and I like that. And the text is very orginal and different to a lot of the text going arond on icons. I have to say, the Johnny Depp one is my fave... hes so awesome in that movie!

jackandmartha!!! wow. How long have you been making icons for? I like them all, I really do. But... dont take this the wrong way, but on the Jodi and Sharni ones, the white gradient gets to me. Maybe its because it covers their faces, or its just the wrong colour... I'm not sure. Also, some of the icons look pixalated. Try smoothing out the skin when it looks like that. I only do it for really pixalated icons that I can see it on, because I'm a lazy bugger, but on the second Tasha one and the last Sharni and Indiana one, I would have done that.

Please don't hate me, because I do adore them all. Thats just some of the tips I have, because of stuff I do... and I can't say it more that its better to ignore all that and have your own style, than copy tutorials or other peoples icons completely as some people do.

Well they're not my first first icons. I've made about 5 before those ones, but they're kinda my first ones. I'm still starting out. Jess, thanks for the advice! I would much rather that than people just saying "they're good" or "they're rubbish". The only way I will improve is by getting advice from graphics makers who are better or more experienced than myself.

Hi jackandmartha!!! - Your icons are fantastic I have to say that i like the Tasha one you are using the best, I really like the colouring. I have to agree with sevenpuddings about the white gradient on the jodi and sharni ones but I like what you have done with the text.

I have wanted to do some black & white icons for a while and I have finally got round to making some. I tried to use similar images where the characters were kind of 'in thought' so they worked as a set:

Karena they are really nice. I love B&W images, and like you said, you captured the characters while in deep thought, making the effect even stronger. I love how they aren't sharp, and have that blurred hazy feeling to them too. Well done!

karena - Nice work, I haven't seen many b&w avatars before and yours look great! My fave is the Matilda one.

iloverobbie - Wonderful work again! I really love your style! My fave is the 4th Tasha one. You could probaly work on the colouring, but beautiful stuff.

I love B&W-icons as well, the onlu thing I'm not too fond of is the cropping - it looks a little crammed. But, that's only my opinion Great job!
