I'm having the same issue with Hollyoaks at the moment as I am with H&A, I really dislike the majority of the characters, whereas a couple of years ago I liked most of them. Nowadays I only watch Hollyoaks during the episodes when my favourite characters are in it (mainly Darren and Cindy). Its very easy to do this, as each week certain storylines will be focused on and completely dropped the next. Also the spoilers on the official Hollyoaks site are so in depth you barely need to watch the show at all.

At the moment I'm utterly hating the Calvin/Carmel rubbish. They are an awful couple, and have completely drained the life from one another. Carmel was so much lovelier with Alek, but she's gone totally downhill over the past year. Calvin was never the most interesting character anyway, but since getting with Carmel he's become even more boring. I think it's obvious he only ever really loved Louise, and has had to settle for Carmel.

Mercedes is behaving disgracefully towards Dom. I understand she's missing Tina, but taking it out on Dom won't change anything or help her move on. She's a total hypocrite for calling Loretta a slut - she cheated on Russ with Warren, slept with Tony behind Jacqui's back, slept with Danny behind Hannah's back, slept with Russ behind Sophie's back (the night she died!!!), she even cheated on Malachy before they got married. I used to love Mercedes, but she's making it very hard to like her lately.

Sasha and Warren are a joke, and in reality he would never go anywhere near her. She really is hilarious the way she tries to behave like a woman, when she's so clearly a stupid girl. The whole fiasco just makes me miss Louise even more. Since Mandy and Louise left the show has really been missing a glamorous female character between 25 and 30, and I hope they bring someone like that in soon. Cindy is too much of a comedy character to fill that role, and Mercedes and Jacqui are so cheap and tacky, they'll never be sophisticated. I suppose Sarah is the closest to that type of character at the moment.

I think that half of the Hollyoaks cast should be axed to be honest. There is way too many people in the cast at the moment and about 90% of them just irritata me sooo much.

I wish it was back in the 2006 - 2007 era where Mcdean were starting out and the Mcqueens arrived.

Hollyoaks actress Emma Rigby is to stay on at the Channel 4 soap for an additional six months.

In November, the 19-year-old - who plays Hannah Ashworth - revealed her intention to leave the show this month, remaining on screen until June.

However, after meetings with new producer Lucy Allan, she has agreed to stay with the soap until at least October.

A spokesperson for the programme this afternoon confirmed to DS: "Hannah changed her mind about leaving and is now contracted until October. She has some fantastic storylines penned for over the summer.

"She is now like any other member of the cast and has an option to renew when her contract when this one comes to an end."

However, a source added: "Hannah's extended her contract by six months but has every intention of leaving when it expires in October. She's been promised a juicy exit storyline for the back end of the year."

 I was so looking forward to her leaving and everything!!! Now she will be around for longer

I must admit I was looking forward to her leaving because she's been so criminally underused since the end of her eating disorder storyline. I bet they have kept Hannah so she and Justin can leave together. Chris Fountain is rumoured to leave about three or four time every year, but I reckon at the end of Emma Rigby's contract he'll go too. That article is stupid, they refer to Emma as Hannah the whole time. Hannah is the character not the actress!

You're right about loads of the cast being expendable right now. I can't believe we have to put up with Josh for a few more years now he's decided to go to HCC. I'd rather Amy was with Ste (a wife-beater!!!) than that wimp Josh. He looks like more of a girl than Amy does. On top of Josh they could axe Elliot, Ash, Archie, Gilly, Rhys, Gov, Leo, Calvin, Neville, Russ, Bel, Susanne, Lauren, Sasha, and Theresa - they're all dreadful. They're are some other characters I don't like, for example Kris, Ravi and Warren, but at least they are interesting and have good storylines.

Yeah I think you're definitely right about Hannah and Justin leaving together . Thats if they stay together though.Hannah was so "in love " with Elliott not very long ago and Justin was really liking Leyla!, the constant changing of characters partners is ridiculous.

I totally agree with alll of the characters you've listed for the axe because there all just so dull and dreary.Maybe you could add the entire Osbourne clan to the list, except Darren and the brilliant Cindy . Oh and of course Steph. This Sasha/Warren thing coming up is the most thickest thing I've ever heard of as well.

I would like to see more of the Mcqueens as a family and I dont think I like the Mercedes being a good girl and sticking with Malachy. She is just so hypocritical , although I can understand shes grieving for Tina still.

I'd like to see more of the McQueens, but less of them going "on the rob". It's really disgraceful, especially when they have been the victim of a major robbery themselves - remember Carmel, JP and Michaela's father stole all their Christmas presents in 2006?

I agree about the Osbourne's, Jack is so horrible for treating Darren as the one who caused all the problems, when he is the on who faked his own death! I've never liked Frankie, and I find Newt extremely annoying. I can't wait until he's a bit older and grows out of being an Emo, he needs to get a makeover big time. I'd love if it was just Cindy, Darren, Holly, Tom and Steph living in Steph's flat. We also need to see more of Nancy and Zoe, they're two of the best female characters but they haven't been on it for ages!

Oh yea I actually despise Newt !!

He just annoys me so much I cant describe it. He is a terrible actor and the emo thing just wrecks my head.

What ever happened to Zoe and Mike ?It was all over and done with in a flash . It was a blink and you'll miss it thing. Like I did miss. Its barely been mentioned since.

It's interesting that Emma is staying on for longer, which makes me wonder whether Chris could be leaving too.

Over the last few months, Justin has been so underused (Which is a relief for some, not so much for me :P) and this Leila/Justin pairing is so ridiculously boring, even I got tired of seeing J on screen.

I like the idea of putting their relationship through an emotional ringer for a bit (Which shouldn't be so hard, given the emotional background they both have, anyway), before having them settle down towards what would be the end of both their contracts which would be a perfect way to give both of them a happy ending that would be memorable, but not OTT.

My concern is that I've pretty much switched off from Hollyoaks now and it seems a few others are going off it too, which is concerning for just how much more damage can be done and/or undone in that time. The actors that we're all so fond of and familiar with are either leaving or being sidelined in favour for those nobody really expresses much interest in or for complete newbes nobody cares about anyway.

Agree pretty much with everyone on DL's list for the axe (Which is pretty much everyone!) except for Rhys. I love him, even when he's being an annoying self centered idiot. I really think whoever is in charge of casting needs to look back on the time the show was largely popular, because that was the time they had a strong cast. Some of the current cast (ANITA! My god, she drives me up the wall) need kicking out. The strongest actors need DECENT storylines and we need some new actors that can act. The whole show is baffling at the minute.

I also love Darren, Jack and Cindy, so would like to see them stay on. Steph and Frankie were once upon a time great but have both gone downhill of late and without strong storylines to bring them back up, don't really have a purpose.

The reason why our faves are getting no storylines is because all the storylines are being distributed between all the crap new characters and there hasnt been any storylines with all the older cast.

Another thing that is annoying me is the fact that Warren is getting away with killing Louise !! Its just so stupid that he can kill somebody and not be discovered . Especially as it was unplanned.

Do you think theres any way Louise is alive ?

Interview with Nathalie Emmanue(Sasha Valentine) from Digitalspy :

With her brother Calvin (Ricky Whittle) being involved in covert underworld operations for Warren (Jamie Lomas), Sasha (Nathalie Emmanuel) continues to pursue The Loft owner, completely unaware of his dangerous disposition.

In a couple of weeks, though, temptation becomes too much for killer Warren as he and Sasha embark on an ill-fated relationship. What would Calvin say?

You have a great on-screen relationship with Spencer - what's it been like working with Darren Langford, who plays him?

"Brilliant. I love him to bits. He's so much fun and a lovely guy. He's really captured the character of Spencer amazingly in that he's not made out to be child-like. And even though Spencer has the mental age of a child, he still comes across like a 24-year-old guy."

Were you proud to have taken part in such a hard-hitting storyline as Sasha's recent drug addiction?

"Yeah, I really am. The whole heroin issue is still quite a taboo subject. The number of people that are on drugs is a lot greater than I think everyone knows. The number of young kids on heroin is shocking but there's not much about the dangers of the drug in the media. So yeah, I'm really pleased with the storyline. It just showed that it can happen to anyone."

Do you think Fletch will ever return?

"I don't know. I'd like him to because Sam [Darbyshire] is one of my buddies! It'd be interesting if he did return to find out what's happened to him. Although when he left, he didn't have anyone - he even mugged Sasha when he left!"

How long do you see yourself staying with Hollyoaks?

"I'm one of those people who'll only stay in a job for as long as it challenges me for. I don't see the point in staying in a job if you're not challenged or you're unhappy with it. I'm still facing new challenges every day and I'm really enjoying being here. Obviously there's a big, wide world out there and I want to see all of it, so there's going to come a time where I'm going to venture off, but when that will be, I don't know."
