Just heard that Hollyoaks are doing a new storyline about 2 charatcters who killed a child when they were younger, it will be Loretta and a new character called Chrissie. They now live their lives under new identitys. Heard it on the Hits radio station, they likened it to the Jamie Bulger case.

It will be interesting to see how they deal with this story as the Jamie Bulger case is still a raw subject with people even now. But Hollyoaks have always dealt with these touchy subjects really well so they will handle it well i guess.

It will be good for Loretta to get a storyline and for us to see into her background. And yes, it does make sense now that she has bonded with Jake with him having tried to kill Charlie and all.

Nancy actually wasn’t a complete cow for once. Wonders will never cease. Looks like Mike’s in denial about Sarah. He seemed to cling onto the notion that she took her own life because he doesn’t want to believe anybody murdered her. Lydia’s days are numbered especially considering that she fessed up to Charlotte. Zoe’s not going to drop this. Not sure if the police will accept that Sarah killed herself and decide to carry on the investigation or whether they will just drop the matter. Either way I’m sure they’ll have a gentle bit of persuasion courtesy of Zoe.

OK, I know this topic is really, really quiet now (Which is a shame, because at one stage it was always busy! LOL.) and I can kind of understand why, because Hollyoaks went really, really downhill after Bryan Kirkwood left. (Lucy Allan has to be up there as one of - if not, THE - worst Soap Producer of all time!) However, I was having a McDean conversation the other day (2 and a half years later, I know. Apparently, I'll never get over them. :P) and I heard about the Ste/Brendan stuff.

I don't know much about Brendan, because I wasn't watching when he arrived. I know he's Cheryl's brother, but that's all apart from the Ste stuff. When I read about the Ste/Brendan relationshp and the abuse stuff, I was quite shocked and convinced it would be awful but, having watched the storyline (or rather, the parts of the storyline YouTube will allow me to watch. Urgh!) it's really good. Kieron Richardson is such a great actor and having Ste go from the abuser (abusing Amy) to the abused (Being abused by Brendan) is a really interesting turnaround. The chemistry is actually brilliant between Ste & Brendan and I like how it's not at all about sexuality. John Paul's coming out WAS about sexuality (as later was Craig's struggle throughout the affair) and the later Sarah/Lydia stuff was badly done and really unconvincing. Whereas with this Ste/Brendan stuff, it seems like they're making it really obvious that Ste is just going with how he feels, regardless to the fact that Brendan is a guy. It means they can skip the initial "Is he gay? Is he not?" debacle that falls every time soap operas start a same-sex romance. I don't know whether they've actually established a sexuality for Ste or not, but it seems like it's not an issue anyway, which is good.

The abuse stuff that I've seen is so, so good (in a soapy, dramatic way.) It's such a turnaround to see vulnerable Ste, and quite heartbreaking. I've read a few people mention Karma, because of what Ste did to Amy, but I don't agree with that at all. Violence never justifies Violence, IMO. Ste doesn't deserve it, just as much as Amy didn't. (Speaking of Amy, I like the way she and Ste seem friendly now. They make a good pair when they're friends.)

It'll certainly be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Am I right in thinking Steph's cancer is terminal? :o That's heartbreaking. I didn't see how it developed, but I'm liking the Steph/Cheryl friendship. Still not keen on the idea of Steph & Gilly together, but what can you do? I hope Steph's exit storyline isn't her death. I'd rather see her leave happily.

Interesting that Warren and Mandy have both now been seen in the village. They're must be some connection to both their returns, which will again be interesting to see unfold. I don't know how long either are back for, but it's certainly intruiging.

The pairing of Rhys/Jacqui was a bit of a shocker (and just a little sad, because a small part of me still hopes to see Rhys reunite with Mercedes one day. I know, it wont happen, but I can dream :P) but Rhys/Jacqui are actually quite cute. I hope there's a storyline for them to come.

Can't comment on the rest of the show, because I have no idea who any of them are. (To name: Who on earth are *clears throat* Bart, Carl, Doug, Duncan, Finn, Jamil, Riley, Rob, Seth, Taylor, Amber, Gabby, Heidi, Jasmine, Jem, Leanne, Mitzee, Sinead and Texas?) btw, I only listed them through the official site. I didn't memorise all those names. LOL. Yeh, I missed a lot of the cast changes. (I didn't see Hannah, Kris, Dave, Fernando, Josh, Leo, Mike, Newt, Ricky (?), Spencer, Zak, Ash, Bel, Charlotte, Hayley, Lauren OR Michaela leave!) Thats how long I haven't been watching :P

I hope I can get past the unknown characters to watch the show properly, because the bits I've seen (Ste/Brendan, bits of Cheryl/Steph) and read of sound quite promising. It would be nice to think Hollyoaks could be good and watchable again one day. LOL.

Anyone else still watching? :P

I didn't really like Brendan when he came in, but he is not so bad at the moment, I'm not sure if that is due to his 'relationship' with Ste or just because he has now been around awhile and I am getting used to him.

But my favourite storyline is the Jasmine/Jason storyline. It has been great to watch, I thought we would be waiting months and months before anyone found out. Then once Anita found out and became someone that J/J could speak to, again I thought the secret would stay a secret for a long time. Then they showed Hollyoaks Later. With Fern knowing and being J/J's bully, I knew that it would be coming out somehow, but I didn't think it would be like this. In a way it is annoying that the gender identity storyline now is caught up in a storyline about a stabbing and J/J's secret being more than what her family will think, but also getting out of trouble she is being framed for with Bart's stabbing. Watching the final Later episode earlier, with Bart realising that Jasmine is Jason, I thought it was all a nightmare for J/J and it wasn't a real scene, I was shocked that they had Bart find out so soon. It was a bit weird that he went from not remembering what happened, to remembering that it was Fern who stabbed him, then realising that Jason is Jasmine in just seconds. But I wasn't surprised that Bart went off on one and told J/J to get out, it isn't unexpected, his girlfriend has this big secret where she wants to be and feels like she is a boy, not surprising that he freaked, but I hope he comes around in the end. I can't help but think it will be quite a while longer before the Costello's find out though, Bart will probably come through in the end with the Fern stuff and get that off J/J's back, but will continue to be against it all for a while longer.

I really don't care for all the Mal/Mercedes stuff, it is just so typical Mercedes.. However with

Mal leaving very soon

, I think we will be seeing more of them.

Nancy being so involved in the Later episodes has made me hate her even more, she is just so smug and looks down on everyone and didn't even say thank you to Mitzeee, who stopped her from being gang raped by walking in there, knowing that she is also in danger.

Steph's cancer is terminal and I haven't liked the way they showed it. Louis storyline was better and he was only in a few episodes, it was far sadder and then he got the all clear and has only been seen once since. I just hate the way that Steph uses her cancer to make people feel guilty and to get them to do what she wants. Like this week, she pretended to faint to get Cheryl to do what she wanted! I know it is in Steph's character to be 'me, me, me', but using the cancer like that was just too much.

Bart is the McQueen siblings cousin. He stole money from Jacqui (she got it by blackmailing someone) and the denied it was him, Myra took his side and that's why Jacqui is living with Rhys.

Carl and Heidi are married, Riley, Seth and Jasmine/Jason are their kids (Riley is meant to be 17! And Seth and J/J are twins), Gem is also Carl's daughter. Mitzeee is their niece/cousin.

Doug left a while back and wasn't in the show much, he was a drug dealer that ODed and then was forced out by Carl.

Duncan is Rhys' cousin, he originally left with Nev and Susan to Spain, but then came back. He lived with Darren and Rhys for a while, before Jack asked Darren and Duncan to move in.

Jamil is a new student that came in with Doug.

Gabby and Rob are married, but split up, Rob has a second family that Taylor (their son) found out about recently, Amber is their daughter and doesn't know. Tony helped Gabby when she was hit by a car and they slowly got together after Tony kept helping her.

Rob is the new school's headteacher and is kids are Finn and Sinead, he is also married to Diane who wants kids of her own. They haven't been featured that much.

Texas is Indi's spoilt sister.. Cindy married their rich grandfather.

Leanne is Lee Hunter's fiancee, even though both have kissed other people since they have come back.

Hannah, I think went travelling.

Dave went travelling and Charlotte joined him.

Not sure about Fernando.

Josh went with Susan and Neville to Spain, after originally being told he couldn't come with them, but then Rhys owned up to spiking Josh's drink which caused the car accident.

Leo and the rest, including Spencer, moved for a fresh start after Calvin's death.

Mike I think also went travelling with Zoe, but he was recently mentioned by Amy and I think looking after the kids, so he must be close by.

Newt left to go to Scotland with his mum and new baby brother.

Zak, Kris and Jake all left for London, I think, Michaela went after Zak not long after.

Ash and Bel left long ago, can't remember the reason though, but it was not long after Anita found out she was adopted.

Hayley left after finding out she was pregnant by either Josh or Rhys.

Ricky left after his dad was taken to hospital, but he and Martin are due back in a month or so.

Think that is all.

Firstly I just wanted to comment on the recent week of Hollyoaks later. I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought most of the episodes were really good. Up until then I couldn’t stand Mitzeee – I thought she was selfish, self-centred and really disliked her after the stunt she pulled with Carl publicly humiliating Heidi but I saw a different side to her, a side that was more likeable and almost caring i.e. trying to save Nancy from that guy and looking out for Teresa. Still can’t stand Nancy though, she doesn’t seem to have any likeability whatsoever.

This storyline with Carl Costello and his sons has just succeeded in making me see what kind of a person Carl is and how much I dislike him.

I do feel sorry for Jasmine regarding the confusion about her gender and think most of her family will be OK about it but I don’t think Carl will.

Initially I was shocked regarding the stuff with Brendan and Ste. I just never saw it coming. When he locked the door I thought he was going to beat Ste again. Personally I don’t think Brendan has any redeeming qualities as a person. Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong but I thought he:

-Knocked Ste out even before they were seeing each other

-Stole from his sister Cheryl twice (The first time he was being blackmailed and needed money to pay the woman off, the second time he put his own sister in hospital, I know he didn’t mean to harm her but he thought Reece was the one who was going to carrying the takings and fully intended to harm him to steal the money).

-Used Carmel to traffic drugs and when Ste threatened to expose him, he threatened to use Amy instead

However I do think he is an interesting character so I don’t mind him being in the show.

I too quite enjoy the scenes with Ste and Amy and like that despite everything they both still care for each other.

Mixed feelings about this storyline with Mercedes and Malachi. Whilst I don’t particularly like her and think she’s treated him like crap I do think she is genuinely sorry and does love him so we’ll wait to see what happens.

This storyline with Warren is ridiculous. He supposed to be dead. What’s the point in killing someone off if they’re going to come back? I suppose it will be Calvin next. Whilst he’s back though I would like to know what the deal is with Mandy? Obviously they both share a mutual hatred for Tony but why?

I used to watch Hollyoaks but stopped. Then last year I mocked my sister for watching it... then ended up watching it at her house. Now I am really hooked again.

I love Brendan (tis the dodgy 'tashe, I'm sure) and Cheryl. I only like Warren when he has scenes with Brendan because they are hilarious together, as well as Mitzee/Brendan. I think what caught my eye was the Jasmine/Jason storyline and how well they have written it.

Actually Hollyoaks is a masterpiece compared to Eastenders at the moment. For some reason the one thing I hope for is a scene between Jason & Brendan. Don't know why but I really hope we get one scene between them.

I haven't seen the past week's episodes yet. Hopefully I'll watch the omnibus later but I just wanted to say I was very disappointed with the whole Bart/Sinead/Jason(Jasmine) storyline. Jason should have just left well alone and not even pursued Bart especially considering that Bart was happy with Sinead. Admittedly not as happy as when he was with Jasmine but happy nonetheless. So now we have a situation where instead of having only one person who is miserable, all three of them are!

I'm absolutely loving the stuff with Silas and Lynsey. I love that Lyndsey knows Silas committed the murders and Silas knows that she knows. I'm really enjoying the mind games, the way he's playing with her and making other people think she is crazy whilst he is a sweet innocent old man. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this pans out and hopefully there will be an explosive end as it has to finish at some point.
