Nest chapter :D.

Chapter 14

Softly, sunlight poured through the small gap in the curtains and onto Martha, as she slowly opened her eyes. Blinking she turned around to be faced with Chris, just like she was faced with him every morning. She tried to get out of bed quietly, so as not to wake him up, but as she slipped out of the bed, he stirred and his eyes shot open.

“Morning babe.” He said, looking up and smiling at her. Martha stared at him, too scared to answer back with a smart comment and too disgusted to return the smile.

“I was thinking…” started Chris.

‘Well that makes a change’ thought Martha to herself.

“We should go for a walk along the beach, it’s a beautiful day.” He looked at her, expecting an answer and expecting that answer to be yes.

“Ok.” she replied, powerless to say anything else.

As Chris showered, Martha thought about what had happened, about Jack, as if she hadn’t thought about him enough already. She knew she had been stupid to refuse his help, and yet she knew that it was unlikely that he would ever be able to help. But finally, after hours of reminiscing and thinking, she had decided that she was going to let him try. She knew that she felt something for him unlike anything she’d ever felt for a guy before and he wanted to help her, she knew that. So, today she was going to open up to him. And if he couldn’t help her, then nobody would be able too. He was her last chance and she wasn’t going to let it slip away.

Alex and Jack walked down the beach in comfortable silence. Sorting out things that morning had really helped Jack and he could see that Alex was definitely worth a try. The sun was already shining and they were walking towards the diner to get something to eat. Both were enjoying each other’s company. As the waves crashed into shore, Jack suddenly had an idea. He turned around to Alex, a mischievous glint in his eye.

“Do you like the water?” he asked. Alex looked at him enquiringly.

“Erm…yea, but what has that got to do with anything? I haven’t even got my bikini with me.” With that she finished and started to continue walking.

“But that doesn’t matter...” replied Jack, as he ran forward and grabbed her, putting her over his shoulder and running towards the sea.

“JACK!!!” screamed Alex, half laughing; half struggling to free herself from his grasp, but no matter how hard she tried it was impossible. Finally, reserving herself to her fate, she uttered her last words of “You’re going to regret this Jack.” before they both hit the water. As they both went under Alex, who was behind Jack, came up, gasping for air. Seeing that Jack was still submerged, she ducked back under the water and waited. She saw him stand up and in a split second, she had jumped onto his back, trying to pull him down. Jack jumped back in surprise and they both started laughing as they struggled to pull each other back under. Alex let go and waded backwards, splashing Jack continuously with water.

“Hey!” shouted Jack “What did I ever do to you??” he put on an innocent face. Alex laughed.

“You mean apart from throw me in the water when you knew I didn’t want to be thrown in??” She stuck her tongue out playfully and continued to walk vigilantly backwards. Jack started swimming towards her and he grabbed her wrist, pulling her in towards him.

“You can’t get away from me.” He said smiling egotistically. But as they both noticed how near they were to each other they stopped laughing. Slowly their faces moved closer and closer together, until Jack finally claimed her lips in a passionate kiss.

As Alex kissed him back, Martha looked on from the beach, her heart breaking.

Awwww, poor Martha! Why Jack?! Just why?!! I thought he was meant to be playing it 'cool'...only on friendly terms! Seems to be more than that now! :(

But, that was a very good update. Don't keep us waiting too long!
