Things are gonna start getting sticky soon... Chapter 21 Two weeks later… By now Martha had been at home for about a fortnight and Chris had been as sweet as anything. He had bought her flowers, waited on her hand and foot and taken her out shopping for the baby. Martha didn’t know what was with the sudden change of heart but she hoped it would last because it was definitely making her life easier. In fact, as Martha had observed him for the last few days she had actually started seeing glimpses of the old Chris: the one who was kind, cute, funny. The one she used to love. She didn’t know how long it had been since that time, but it felt like centuries ago. She really did wonder why he had changed; or more to the point, what had made him change exactly. By no means, was Martha over the abuse that she had endured from Chris, and she knew she would never forgive him, but gradually she had felt herself relaxing just a little bit more, which can’t have been bad for the baby. She was still mentally scarred and even being near Chris would sometimes give her panic attacks. She'd feel shaky and nervous and she hated it. In fact, being alone with any man other than family, and Jack, made her feel like that. She had lost her trust; and that was something Chris had had no right to take away from her. All the stress that she had had to deal with had certainly made Martha cautious and maybe even slightly paranoid about the baby’s safety. Whatever she did, she took precautions, going on the grounds that it was definitely better to be safe than sorry. Despite the fact that she had initially wanted to get rid of the baby Martha had started to love it. It may have only been about a month old but it was part of her now, and there was no way that she could imagine having it any other way. In fact, her life did seem to be looking up for the better, except for that one thing; that person who even though Martha tried to pretend wasn’t important, really meant the world to her. Jack and Martha hadn’t talked to each other since the day after she got back from hospital. Jack had gone to the hospital, expecting to help Martha decide where she could stay, but he had arrived to find her gone. Promptly afterwards, he had turned up at Chris and Martha’s house having a go at her for being stupid enough to go back to him. He hadn’t contacted her since and she hadn’t had the guts to speak to him either. The only time she had tried to talk to him, he had been with Alex. The next day she had walked past his house to see Alex moving her stuff in. Martha tried to ignore it, tried to pretend it wasn’t happening, that it didn’t affect her, but it did. As she had walked past that day she had felt overwhelmingly sad and jealous. She wanted to tell him how she felt. But he loved Alex. Every time she saw him he was with her and they seemed blissfully happy. He would walk past her as if she didn’t exist. Alex would greet her with a slight smile or nod of the head, but with Jack there was nothing. He's a jerk and I bet Jack looks better in the uniform then Chris!. I have decided I like Alex, so I hope she doesn't get too hurt but chris I hope Jack kicks your ass!!! Jack get away from Alex.. ..Martha get away from chris.. .. Jack and Martha get together thanks for updating, I understand how busy or are and going to be! So I apprieate you doing so.
