emmasi
What about writing about characters that aren't on the show anymore? Ooh, we can write about what they're doing now. Like how are Mattie and Ric doing in WA? And is Barry STILL waiting to be trialed for murder?? Maybe he's planning to pay Irene a visit We could even write about random guests like... um... Aden's cousin. Whatever happened to him? There's a fic right there!
jenlee
Ooh ooh yes!! I like that one ... ahh the possibilities ...
Symphony
I quite like the idea of 'what are ric and mattie up to nowadays' - although I think going too far back with characters might be hard on those who haven't been watching it for years / haven't caught up on what happened before their time. Or perhaps it could be something like [i don't entirely know how these fan fic challenges work] a main character has to die, and in the fic, the writers come up with the layout of the event, who it is, why it is, how it happens etc? Orrr perhaps something to do with Irene; give her a place in the spotlight, although I'm not sure what theme it could be... Hrm!
jenlee
Lol, the whole "give Irene a decent storyline" could finally be done ... just by all of us instead of the H&A writers
emmasi
Hah, I wouldn't mind the Irene one. The only problem then would be finding a word limit so that we didn't keep writing forever! Is 2000 words good? I think that's about 5 pages. We don't want them to be too long if we're ever going to have a chance of people reading and reviewing them all
jenlee
I think 2000 words is good, it's my average chapter length. A good idea might be for us to all come up with some ideas and make a list of twelve or so for throughtout the year that we just cross off after each one is used. Like the list for avatar contest, I don't know if that's how it's still done but it could be an idea *shrugs*
I love music
Lol, the whole "give Irene a decent storyline" could finally be done ... just by all of us instead of the H&A writers You could call it the Give Irene a Decent Storyline fanfic challenge. I won't be entering or hosting but I'd almost certainly readstories with that theme. I think you'd get quite a few readers and, hopefully, reviewers. Miranda
A good idea might be for us to all come up with some ideas and make a list of twelve or so for throughtout the year that we just cross off after each one is used. Now that is a brilliant idea. A fanfic challenge per month
jenlee
Haha, that way who ever wins the challenge each month can pick the next months challenge, and so on. So maybe everyone who is interested could come up with a few ideas and a Mod could pin it? I don't know, I don't know how these things work lol. Skykat
You could definitely do that, its worked in the past but the problem tends to be that people lose interest after a while and people say they'll enter but don't. I'd recommend for now just going with one idea as your challenge and all agree on it. You can ask a member of the moderation team to be an independent host if you like, we did that previously using Dean, that way everyone can enter and you agree on the details between you. As for the scriptwriting competition, that's a main site thing at was always organised by Frankie and it will be running again this year. So watch this space on that one but in the meantime you can use this thread for as many challenges as you like. Everyone who knows me knows I'm a big fan of these challenges in improving writing skills.
