My first tutorial

How to get this effect: -9103.jpg

I used Photoshop CS2 ... I'm not sure if it can be done using other programs.

Open your image. I chose this one

-91.jpg

Open your picture and use whatever colouring/text/brushes you wish.

Merge Layers. My icon looked like this:

-910.jpg

Duplicate this layer.

Filter >> Blur >> Radial Blur

Set the Amount to 15.

Set the blur method to spin

Set the quality to best

OK

Your icon should now look like this:

-9101.jpg

Now using the elliptical marquee tool, create a circle of the area you want to be un-blurred.

Set the feather to 15. And hit delete on your keyboard.

Your icon should now look something like this:

-9103.jpg

Other icons using this effect:

I'd love to see results! :D And I'm happy to answer any questions.

:P Ok!

Select your brush tool (make sure a soft circle brush is selected). The size of it doesn't matter- you'll want to use a big one for big spaces (e.g. the blanket in the above picture) e.t.c. Decide which part you are coloring first. I decided to do the blanket, so I created a new layer, picked the colour I want to go over it in (which was green), and start going over it (it's very important you do this on a new layer).

Set this layer to 'color'. The parts that you coloured should now be green. Keep doing this until you've coloured the whole image, but create a new layer each time you colour something else (e.g. the dress, or the skin).

Hope that explains it a bit better.

I don't have the option color :P It's grey (aka can't use it) :P

Step 1. First sharpen your base: Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen

Step 3. Layer > duplicate layer > set to screen 88%

Now your picture should look like this:

Step 3. Layer > New adjustment layer > Hue/Sat

Master: 0, 13, 0

Reds: 0, 17, 0

Step 4. Layer > New adjustment layer > Color balance

Step 5 (optional step)

Image > duplicate and drag on top.

And you're done :D

Reds: 0, 17, 0

Step 4. Layer > New adjustment layer > Color balance
