Zetti wanted a tutorial on THIS icon.

It's a lot of layers so it might take a while to do. I made it in Photoshop, but it doesn't contain anything that you can't achive in PSP.

Step 1

Take your cap, duplicate it (ctrl+j) and set the duplictaed layer on screen. Marge down the duplicated layer (ctrl+e). Now paste your brighten cap on your white icon base. Like this:

step1-3.png

Step 2

Now duplicate your image and desaturate it (ctrl+shift+u). Set the duplicated desaturated image on soft light.

It should now look like something like this:

step2-2.png

Step 3

Take THIS texture and paste it above all the layers. Put it on screen 100%.

Your icon should look like this now:

step3-2.png

Step 4

Make a new layer and fill it with the color #dfdea9. Put this layer on screen 100%.

Your icon should now look something like this:

step4-3.png

Pretty bright don't you think?

Step 5

Make a new layer and fill it with the color #302f08. Put this layer on Soft Light 100%.

step5-4.png

Still pretty bright, but it's darker.

Step 6

Now take THIS texture and paste it above all the other layers. Put this layer on Lighten 100%.

step6-1.png

Not that much of a difference.

Step 7

Now we have to make the icon darker, it can't look like this. Go down in your layer palette and find the first black and white layer you have. Duplicate that and move it above all the other layers. Put this layer on Soft Light.

step7-2.png

Yey that's what I'm talking about.

Step 8

We're going to make it even more darker so go down your layer palette and find the first colored version of your image. Duplicate it and move it above all the other layers. Put this layer on Soft light.

step8-1.png

More dark, but it's not enough for me.

Step 9

Repeat step 7.

step9-1.png

Okay that will have to due for now.

Step 10

Make a new layer and fill it with the color #653044. Put this layer on Soft Light 100%. Duplicate this purple layer once (ctrl+j) and put the duplicated layer on Soft Light 100%.

step10-1.png

That really darkened it and made it a bit brown.

Step 11

Take THIS texture and put it on Hard Light 100%.

step11-1.png

That made it yellow.

Step 12

Take THIS texture and put it on Soft Light 100%.

step12-1.png

That gave the color a bit more strength and added a line in the upper part of the icon.

Step 13

Now find your first colored image, duplicate it and move it above all the other layers. Just like you did in step 8. Put this duplicated layer on Lighten 100%.

step13.png

Step 14

Take THIS texture and paste it above all the other layers. Put it on lighten 100%.

step14.png

Step 15

Make a new layer and fill it with the color #041c3c. Put this layer on Exclusion 100%.

step15.png

Not much left, I promise.

Step 16

Go down your layer palette and find the first black and white version of your image. Just like you did in step 7. Move it above all the other layers and put it on Soft Light 100%.

step16.png

Step 17

Make a new layer. With the marquee tool mark a border in the down part of your icon. Fill the mark with the color #f8cc8d. This is how mine looks like now:

step17.png

Step 18

Now add some text on that orange part. I used a bright languid red color fo rmy text. I thought that looked best.

step18.png

Step 19

Now add a light texture of your choice.

step19.png

Step 20

Add THIS texture and put it on Darken 100%. Now I Stamped the image (ctrl+shift+alt+e). I sharpened this stamped layer once.

And you are done!

This is my layer palette:

Hey guys,

the lovely Emma (Emsan) wanted a tut for this

30-16.jpg

Its pretty simple so here we go!

Step 1

Take your picture and crop it to your prefered size and how you would like it . . .

Step 2

Now were going to adjust the shadows and highlights so go to (Image>Adjustments>Shadow/Highlights) and take the shadows right up to 100%

Step 3

Now go to (Image>Adjustments>Photo Filter) and click your drop down box to (Cooling Filter (80) ) and take it up to what ever percent you like, i took mine right up to 100

Step 4

Add some text, brushes or what ever else you like and your done . . .

told you it was easy :)
