Does anyone know how to use masks on Photoshop, or know where I can get any good explainatory tutorials?

Well, from what I know, a mask it like a brush..border..kinda. You just download a pack (I got some from a brush site), and use it like a brush.

With Photoshop, when I try to use any of my brushes, the following message is displayed:

"Could not use the history brush because the current canvas size does not match that of the history state."

Does anyone have an idea on what has happened. The stupid brushes were working just fine last nite

EDIT: My sister worked out I was in History Brush Tool instead of the Brush Tool.

Also, does anyone know of any good text brushes? Thanks

The history brush is not the same as the normal brush(es). Make sure you have chosen the correct tool.
