Rockagirl: Open 2 Pictures.

Pic One: the Pic you want to Blend on

Pic Two: The one you want to put onto Pic One

Select around the Selection you want from Pid Two using the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Then using the Move Tool, move the Floating Selection Onto Pic One.

Then your done! If you want to get rid of some Backround, just Select what you wanna Remove and hit the Delete Button on your Keyboard.

Maybe someone else could explain it better

Someone requested how I made the HSM sig, so I wrote up a similar tut.

How to make this:

The Blending

I think I wrote a tutorial on how to blend a few pages back (pg 4 I think), but i'll give you a quick sum of how to blend here. I'm writing this as though you're using 2 pictures.

First off, you need the pictures. To make the job easier, use pictures that are similar, e.g. same background, otherwise you may find it looks a bit..err.

I'm using a few Hilary Duff pictures (typical).

First we open up a canvas (Ctrl + N), and make it big enough so all our pictures can fit on it. Overlap them.

Now the blending! We select our "Lasso tool"

lasso.gif

Now the lasso tool bar appears at the top!

lasso_toolbar.gif

See the part that says "Feather"? Enter in about 2 or 3 in that. Feathering makes the blend look better (not all the time but mostly). You can leave it at 0, or 1 if you want.

Now, we slowly start you draw around the selected picture, i.e. the one overlapping the over, like this:

btut1.jpg

Then I press "Delete" on my key-board.

I keep cutting around until I end up with this:

btut2.jpg

And thats the blending!

Merge all.

Effects

Now we duplicate our image twice, and set the first to softlight. Then the second, i.e. the one at the top, we go to Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur, and set the px box thing to 2.0. Click ok, and set the layer to "Overlay". Duplicate base once more, drag to top, go to Filter> Sharpen>Sharpen. Leave layer at Normal, but set opacity to 20. Merge.

Mine now:

I then added this gradient, that came with the program:

btut4.jpg

And set it to Lighten, but because it was covering most of Hilary's face now, I then transformed it by going Ctrl + T and expanding it (just press Ctrl + T and you'll see what I mean!).

I set the opacity to 88%

Now for an effective look, I merged all, and then made a new layer. I added a brush (splatter brushes work best..text brushes won't be as effective), and set it to Overlay (you could try Softlight, then duplicate it..do what you wish). Then made a new layer and added a text brush (thanks to Dora from Zashley online), but left it at Normal.

Then, just so the right corner wasn't lonely :P I added Hilary's name in JaneAusten.

My finished result:

Please do not copy exactly. Also try using different gradients e.t.c. ;)

I also made this, using the same tutorial:

This is a tutorial for blending in Adobe Photoshop 7.0. The features I mention are most likely to be included in other versions of Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro, just in different places.

Please do not take this tutorial for your site or another forum, because evry screen print etc was taken by me. icon1.gif

1. You will need two or more pics for your blend, I used these three.

2. Use the rectangular marquee tool to select the part of the pic you want to blend with the other.

Like this:

3. Then, use the move tool to drag the selected area onto the other pic, where you want them to blend together.

tut3.png

Like this:

tut4.png

4. Do this for the other pic, if you have one and you should have something that looks like this:

5. Then add your brushes, textures etc and you're done!

This is my finished product!

Sorry that the 2nd before last pic came out small, its just Photobucket being annoying :P

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post it, but it was the only place I could think of...

I know that a lot of you get your images from getty images, and I thought I'd register. But just like WENN they require company name and all that. Is it illegal to use their images for personal art and stuff without being associated to any company? How did you fill out the form? I got really confused, and ended up not signing up at all...

Thanks to anyone who can help :)

Just a quick question - Where is the move tool.

I am following a tutorial and this is what I have to do - The light effect is a bit too overpowering, but the effect it gives the icon at the top looks good. So we need to bring the good effect down and get rid of the bad. Grab the move tool and stretch the bottom right corner down.

Any help would be helpful :)
