Chapter 25

Martha and Jack were having a house warming party that evening. Beth, Tony, Lucas, Mattie, Ric, Cassie and Sally were all coming. Beth and Tony were arriving at five, to help set up, and they wanted to see their grandchildren. All of the other guest were arriving at six. Martha wasn't to stressed as she had gotten some food from the diner. It was more of a get together as they hadn't seen Ric, Cassie and Sally in a long time. Martha had said that Pippa could come over and play with the twins. She was only two years older than them. Sally said she'd ask her. The doorbell rang. It was Mattie and Luc. Mattie said she wanted to talk to Martha about something. It was serious.

As Mattie and Martha went into one of the reception rooms Mattie was almost in tears.

"Mattie, what's wrong?" Martha asked

"Well um, I'm pregnant again" she said relieved to get it off her chest.

"But that's great isn't it?" Martha asked again

"Well, me and Luc always said that we only wanted one child, and that was Ben. I don't know how he'll react." Mattie finished

"Look the same thing happened with me and Jack after the twins. I eventually told him, and he was really pleased that we were going to have another baby. Now look at us, we've got four kids and we're happier than ever." Martha said trying to convince her friend that everything would be alright.

"You're probably right, I should just sit down and talk to him about it"

"Course I'm right. If there's anything else you're worried about, just come round or call me" Martha added

"Ok, look we better get going, you've got thingss to do and I have to plan my outfit for tonight" Mattie said grinning.

"Ok, lets go and find Jack and Luc, the one problem with having a big house is that you never know where anyone is" Martha said laughing.

After Mattie and Luc had gone Jack started being nosy and wanted to know what they talked about.

"Was Mattie upset?" Jack asked

"Yer, she was" Martha replied

"Is she alright?" Jack asked again. Martha could see where this was going.

"Look I'll tell you what she said, but you have to promise not to tell anyone." she said

"Ok, I promise"

"Right well, do you remeber when I was worried about how you'd react when I was pregnant with Charlie?"

"Yer, you were really scared"

"I know, and Mattie's pregnant and she hasn't told Luc, they had always agreed that they'd only have one child, and that child was Ben, so Mattie thinks Lucas is going to make her have an abortion" Martha finished

"Luc would never do that, in fact just the other day he was telling me how he wanted to have more kids."

"Really?" Martha asked

"Really, so it looks like everything should be ok" Jack answered

"That's great, cause I'd hate for there to be a bad atmosphere tonight" Martha said

"I know." Jack said before kissing her on the lips.

Beth and Tony had arrived at six like they said they would. Beth went to help Martha set up. Soon all the guests had arrived. Everyone was enjoying themselves. Ric was messing around with Harry. They had always gotten on well and Cassie was playing with Jodi. Just then Mattie came over to Martha.

"Hey, Mattie how did it go?" Martha asked picking up Charlie.

"Yer, well I talked to him about it, and he said that he actually wanted to have more kids. He wanted Ben to have a younger brother or sister to play with."

"That's great, I bet you're glad that you've finally told him" Martha said

"I sure am, you really helped Martha, thanks alot" Mattie added before giving Martha a hug.

"That's alright" Martha said, "Erm, I'm sorry but Indi needs a feed so I better go and see to her."

"Sure, I'll talk to you later" Mattie said before Martha went upstairs. Jack saw her head upstairs and followed her.

"Hey babe" he said following her into Indi's room.

"Hey, what are you doing up here?" Martha asked

"I came to see if you were alright" he replied

"That's sweet, Indi needs a bottle if she's going to sleep through the night, with her teething."

"Do you want me to do that?" Jack asked

"No, but I think the twins should go to bed soon." Martha said

"Ok, I'll go and tell them and take them upstairs" Jack replied

"Alright babe, I'll give Indi her bottle and then I'll come up to" Martha said before giving Jack a kiss on the lips and going downstairs with a following Jack.

All of the kids were asleep, and Sally had gone with Pippa as she was tired. Everyone was enjoying themselves, but it was nearly half past eleven and some of the guests were getting tired. Jack and Martha were quite tired themselves as they had had a busy day. They hadn't really stopped. Jack decided that it was late enough and that the guests should go home. Tony and Beth were already leaving, but Ric, Cassie, Luc and Mattie were still enjoying themselves. Jack told them that the party was over, but they didn't understand as they were all drunk apartt from Mattie. She pulled Luc away and told him that they had to go home. She knew he'd regret getting so drunk in the morning as he would have an awful hangover. Ric and Cassie had to be pushed out of the door. Finally Martha and Jack had some time to themselves.

It was the twins last day of school. They had finished their first year. Mrs Smith was very pleased with the things that they had achieved that year. Martha and Jack were on their way to pick them up.

"I know they'll get bored in the holidays" Martha said to Jack

"Yer, they will, so we'll just have to find ways to entertain them."

"I think we should take them to the beach alot." Martha replied

"Yes we will, I know Harry wants to learn how to surf. He's too young but he can still sit on a surf board and have fun."

"Jodi will want to do the same." Martha added

"They have to be equal don't they" Jack laughed. They soon arrived at the school. From their new house it only took them five minutes to walk. They were just on time as all of the children came out.

"Mummy, daddy" the twins said together

"Hey, you two, how was your last day at school?" Jack asked

"It was really good. Mrs Smith let us play for a really long time today" Jodi replied

"That's great, have you got all of your stuff?" Martha asked

"Yes mummy, Mrs Smith checked" Harry replied.

"Alright then lets go home" Jack said taking their hands.

It was two weeks into the holidays and Harry and Jodi had so far managed to keep themselves occupied. Tonight Jodi and Harry were both staying over with friends. It was just Jack and Martha with Charlie and Indi. Indi had now settled down again, so Jack and Martha were planning a cosy night in. They were going to rent a DVD. Martha said she'd pick one up when she dropped off the twins. The twins said goodbye to Jack and then went with Martha. In the car they were both quiet. They were going to miss Martha and Jack even if it was for only one night. They were a very close family, and did most things together. Most of all, they were going to miss each other. They were hardly ever separated. They hated being on their own.

Martha dropped Jodi off first and then she dropped Harry off. She then headed down to the DVD rental shop. It wasn't to far from the diner, so she decided to pop in there aswell and say hello to Morag. Morag had gone to the city and forgot to tell Martha so Martha just decided to pick up something for tea. Leah and Irene were doing a shift. It was a long time since she'd caught up with Leah. She hardly ever saw Irene or Robbie for that matter. She wondered how he was doing. He was staying in the city at the moment, but he was due back this weekend. She decided that they would invite him over on sunday. The kids woud love to see him. Martha realised what time it was and she still hadn't gotten a DVD. She was going to be late. Indi would never settle if Martha didn't put her down, and Jack had asked her to be back before seven o'clock.

By the time she got home, Charlie was already asleep in his bed and Indi was crying her eyes out. Martha went straight over and picked her up. Indi calmed down straight away. Martha fed her a bottle of milk and then went upstairs to settle her. When she came back downstairs, Jack had prepared a romantic meal for them. So much for the DVD. They enjoyed themselves so much. In the end they did watch the DVD. Jack started kissing Martha's neck. Then he lead her upstairs and their clothes hit the floor within minutes.
