Chapter 28

Martha hadn't slept very well that night so Jack had let her sleep in whilst he got the kids ready for school. She woke up realised what time it was, she couldn't belive she had slept in, Indi would need feeding, the kids had to be ready for school. The list went on and on of things that she had to do. When she went downstairs, they were all sat around the table.

"Hey babe" Jack said

"Morning" she replied "Why didn't you wake me up this morning?" she asked in a tired voice

"Because you needed your sleep" Jack said kissing her on the lips

"Mummy, will you take us to school this morning?" Jodi asked

"Sure sweetie, I'll just go and get ready" Martha answered before heading upstairs

"Yay" Jodi and Harry said together

As Martha and the twins were walking to school, the twins started asking questions about the baby.

"Mummy, when is it due?" Harry asked

"Well, I'm five months gone now, so in about four months, near your birthday"

"I hope it's a girl" Jodi said

"No, it's gonna be a boy!" Harry argued, this argument went on for quite a while and before they knew it they had arrived at school.

"Have a good day kids" Martha said squating down to their level

"We will mummy, do you think you could pick us up?" Harry asked

"I'll have to see" Martha said before waving goodbye as they went to join their friends in the playground.

Martha got home quickly as she was hungry and hadn't had any breakfast, she didn't have any morning sickness now, that stopped at about four months.

"Hey gorgeous" Jack said greeting Martha with a kiss

"Hey babe" Martha replied

"How were the kids?" Jack asked

"They were good, they kept asking questions about the baby and then they got into and argument over whether it would be a boy or a girl" Martha said "It was quite funny"

"Well, I still think it's going to be a boy, I can just tell" Jack replied rubbing Martha's tummy.

"Do you know, well do you remeber that bet we made?" Martha asked

"Yer" Jack said cautiously

"Well, I'm uping the stakes, loser has to pay the winner ten bucks" Martha said

"Fine by me, cause I know I'm right" Jack said before giving her another kiss and then going to get Indi.

Martha and Jack had spent the whole day keeping Charlie entertained. He was at that age where he needed to be doing something, thankfully he would be at school soon. Jodi and Harry would look after him whilst he was there. Martha was making a sandwich in the kitchen. She was really hungry all the time. Jack had decided that they would go to the diner for tea, as Martha didn't want to cook and neither did Jack.

"Martha, do you want me to pick the twins up from school?" Jack asked

"No, it's alright, they asked me to pick them up, and I could do with some fresh air"

"Alright, well why don't we all go and then we can head down to the beach" Jack replied

"Yer, why not, that's a great idea." said Martha before giving him a kiss. "I'll make sure I pack Harry's boardies and Jodi's bikini" Martha added before sitting down to eat the sandwich that she had prepared.

Jack and Martha had arrived early at to pick the twins up. They stood outside kissing. Jodi and Harry would have hated the fact that they were showing any sort of affection in public and especially in front of them.

"Mummy, daddy, why do you embarass us?" Jodi asked

"We can't help it if we're in love kids" Jack anwered

"Hey guys, do you want to go to the beach?" Martha asked

"Yer, can we?" Harry asked

"Well, I've got your boardies and your bikini so we can go now" Martha replied

"Yes" the twins said together giving each other a high five.

Down on the beach the twins were in the water with Martha, Jack was with Charlie and Indi up on the beach. They were splashing about and having a really good time. Indi was having a nap and Charlie was messing around in the sand. Charlie started to head down to the water. Martha saw him and went to pick him up. She took him back into the water to where her and the twins were. Jodi was there on the rock, but Harry was no where to be seen.

"Jodi, where's Harry gone?" Martha asked

"I thought he got out with you" she replied

"Harry, Harry where are you" Martha called out, there was no reply. She called out to Jack who came running down and dived under the water. Harry was under the water, Jack pulled him out and took him back up to the beach. He wasn't breathing. Rachel just happened to be walking along the beach with Kim. She came running over and tried to revive him.

Chapter 29

"Come on Harry, stay with us" Rachel was talking to herself whilst trying to revive Harry. Jack was keeping a cool head, and Martha was trying to keep it together for Jodi, who was crying her eyes out. Harry still wasn't breathing, Jack had called an ambulance and it would be here in about ten minutes. Harry had jumped off the rock and hit his head. He then slipped into unconsciousnous and drowned. His chances of survival were quite slim. Would Rachel manage to get Harry breathing again?

The ambulance had arrived, Jack was going to go with him in the ambulance, and Rachel said that she would go to the hospital aswell, as her shift was just about to start. Martha packed everything up and got the kids. She got them all in the car without any fuss. She went and stood looking out to sea. A single tear rolled down her cheek. The family would never be complete if Harry died. She had to pull herself together, even if it was just for Jodi, Charlie and Indi. It wouldn't take her long to get to the hospital. She drove quite quickly, but in a way, she didn't want to get there, in case Harry hadn't pulled through. She found the childrens ward and went to sit down with the other kids. Jack soon came and joined her, he said that they had taken Harry away when he arrived.

Rachel came out and told them that they had managed to get Harry breathing again. He was just coming round, she showed them to his room. He was lying down, but he saw everyone come in.

"Mummy..." he said very faintly

"It's alright sweetheart, mummy's here." Martha said rushing over to the side of his bed. In about half and hour he had come round fully. He was now sitting up and chatting away as if nothing had happened.

"Mummy, what happened?" Harry asked

"Well honey, when you jumped off the rock into the water, you hit your head, and then because you were unconsious you drowned" Martha said in a soft voice. She pushed his hair back.

"I remeber seeing things" Harry added

"What sort of things?" Martha asked

"Well, it seemed as if I was floating, floating to somewhere, it was quite a long journey and I had nearly arrived, but then it stopped" he replied. Rachel happened to be in the room and had heard all of this.

"That sounds like a fake death" Rachel butted in "Not many people get them, I've heard about this sort of this thing before." She finished

"See honey, you're one special kid" Martha said

Harry had to stay in overnight for observation. Jack had gone home with the others. Martha was going to go soon as one of the nurses had said that she had to leave. Harry didn't want her to go, but she had to. He started crying and Martha hated seeing him like that. He must have been scared, sleeping in somewhere, where he only vaguely knew two people. Those people were Nurse Julie and Rachel, he had only met Julie three times, and Rachel about seven times. But Martha had to go. She managed to get him to stop crying. He luckiy fell asleep, before Martha had to go, so she could leave him without feeling too guilty. Back at the house all of the kids were asleep, it had been quite an eventful day. Martha and Jack also went to bed soon, Martha wanted to go and see Harry as early as possible in the morning. Jack said that he would take Jodi to school and Harry to nursery, and that he would come in straight after with Indi. The teachers at school knew about Harry as Martha had phoned them earlier to tell them.

It was seven o'clock and Martha was already up. She was aloud to go and see Harry at eight, so she had to leave in about half an hour as the traffic would be quite bad. Jack had got Jodi up, so that she could see Martha.

"Mummy, when can Harry come home?" Jodi asked

"Today sweetie, that's why I'm not going to be able to take you to school, because I have to go and pick him up" Martha answered. "Come here" she said to Jodi promting her to sit on her lap. Jodi went and sat on Martha's lap. "I know you missed your brother, and I know that you'll miss him at school today, but he'll be back soon and things will be back to normal." She finished

"I know mummy, it's just not the same" Jodi replied.

"I know sweetie, I know" Martha added whilst pulling her into a hug. Jack hated it when Martha and Jodi were like this. It broke his heart to see them like this. When Jodi got off Martha's lap, Martha asked her what she wanted for breakfast. Jack said he'd sort it out whilst Martha carried on getting ready. Martha came down again with Indi on her hip. She put her in her high chair.

"I'll see you soon babe" she said to Jack before kissing him on the lips and picking up her car keys.

"Bye mummy, I'll see you later" Jodi said waving goodbye

"Bye sweetie" Martha said giving her another hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"Come on Jodi, I know things are going to be different today, but you'll see Mummy and your brother later after school" Jack said, crouching down to Jodi's level and pulling her into another hug.

At the hospital Martha arrived to here Harry crying. Nurse Julie came up to her as soon as she saw her.

"He's a bit upset, because he woke up in a strange place, go straight in, he's dying to see you" she said

"Thanks Julie" Martha replied before walking into Harry's room. She went straight over to him and pulled him into a hug. "Ssh sweetie, it's all right, mummy's here now" she said cradling him in her arms.

"Mummy, I want to go home" he whispered

"I know you do honey, why don't I go and ask Julie when you can go home, hey" Martha said pulling away from him. Martha went outside to find Julie. Julie followed her into Harry's room.

"Well, Harry, I'm pleased to say that you can go home once Rachel comes and checks you over at ten o'clock" Julie finished

"So not long to wait sweetie" Martha said reassuring her son. Just then Rachel came in.

"Hey Harry, I've got some spare time now and I was thinking that you could have your check-up now so that you could go home sooner" Rachel said

"Hey Harry, that would be good wouldn't it" Martha said reassuring Harry again. Harry just nodded his head.

"Great, I thought you'd want to get home soon" Rachel said before starting to check-up on Harry.

By the time Jack had gotten there, Harry was ready to go. He ran towards Jack when he came in. Jack gave Indi to Martha and picked him up.

"Hey dude, we missed you" he said

"I missed you to daddy" Harry replied

"Come on lets get you home" Martha said picking up Harry's bag. Jack and Martha just wanted their son back where he belonged. Harry got in the car. Martha had driven the Porsche, so Harry obviously wanted to go with her. Jack and Indi had come in the Range Rover, not quite as fast. As Martha pulled up waiting for the electric gates to open she could tell Harry was glad to be home. He was also glad to be off school.

Jack and Indi were back before them, and Jack was just getting out of the car when Martha pulled up. Harry got out as quick as he could and raced over to the door. "Is it good to be home?" Martha asked

"It sure is" Harry replied racing in as soon as Martha had unlocked the door. Martha wasn't feeling to good so went to get a glass of water. Jack came in and put Indi down.

"You alright babe?" Jack asked noticing her rather pale complexion.

"Yer, the babies just doing summersalts though" she replied

"If you say so" he said before kissing her on the lips.

Martha hadn't been feeling to good for a couple of days. She knew that really it wasn't because of the baby as she was well past having morning sickness. She had asked Rachel if she could book an appointement. She was going to see her tommorow. In the mean time, she had a certain little boy that was full of energy to entertain. She was glad that things were beginning to get back to normal.
