[Jack and Martha 4eva]

Chapter 34

Jack was working with Corey once again. They seemed to be getting along quite well, considering the history they had with each other. But this was all part of Corey's plan. Soon he would make Jack's life living hell. They were eating their lunch together, but Jack had to go off and get something. He left his lunch behind. There was also a cup of coffee. Corey pulled out a small container of liquid and poured it into Jack's coffee. He quickly put the liquid away, just before Jack came back to get his lunch. He was needed at a disturbance, so would have to have his lunch later. He was going to have his coffee in the car.

It didn't take long for Jack to get to the disturbance, it was just a cat. Corey had gone with him and watched him drink the coffee with a smug smile.

"Corey, do you mind driving back, it's just I'm feeling a bit tired" Jack asked

"Course not" Corey replied. Two minutes after Jack had gotten in the car he was asleep. The drugs had kicked in and now Corey was driving to a secluded part of the forest near Summer bay. He stopped at a shed, he carried Jack inside, and tied him up to a chair. Martha wouldn't have a clue as Jack was working the late shift aswell. Tonight would be the perfect oppurtunity for him to deal with Martha. He knew that the kids would probably all be asleep by nine o'clock, so that was his chance, when she was alone. Jack was still in the shed, Corey had gone back and gagged him. There was no way that he could escape Corey thought to himself. He then headed back to their house and watched Martha sorting out the kids and putting them to bed. In the morning, she wouldn't be there to wake them up, or give them breakfast. Eventually they would be without a mummy or a daddy.

Half an hour later when Corey was certain that all of the children were asleep, he went and knocked on the door. Martha answered it and was quite shocked to see Corey standing there. Without even thinking about it she invited him inside. Corey had brought some wine over, he knew it was Martha's favourite. He had spiked the wine with the same stuff he gave to Jack. He gave her the bottle, and she opened it immeadiately and poured herself a glass. She loved the stuff and kept on pouring herself more and more. Corey rejected a glass, as he of course knew what was in it. It didn't take long for the drugs to kick in and Martha was soon unconscious. Corey picked her up and carried her to his car. He started driving to the forest, where Jack was. By the time he got there, Jack was awake and trying to untie himself. Corey came in carrying Martha and took her through a doorway to a separate room. He then went back in to Jack.

"Doesn't Martha look pretty when she sleeps" Corey said. Jack couldn't reply but made some sort of noise as he was still gagged. "I think I'll have a bit of fun with her when she wakes up" Corey added. Jack made some more noise. "What was that Jack?" Corey asked, "Oh, sorry I forgot, you're gagged, so you can't say anything, and you're tied up so you can't rescue your beloved Martha" he then laughed. He left Jack to it and went into the other room. He shut the door, that was about to fall off it's hinges.

Back at the house Jodi had heard somebody downstairs, she thought that it was Jack so she went down to see him. When she got down there was nobody there. She called out to Martha but there was no reply. She went to check Martha and Jack's bedroom, but Martha wasn't there. She was clever and knew that something wasn't right, so she called Beth. She had memorised the number when she was little, in case of an emergency. Beth answered the phone and Jodi explained what had happened, Beth came straight over. She phoned the police, whilst she was at Jack and Martha's house, and told them that Corey was probably behind all of this. The police immeadiately began a search, they had become suspicious too, as Jack wasn't on his shift, and he never missed a shift. They tried to trace Jack's mobile phone signal, but they couldn't find it. They could only hope that they were looking in remotely the right place.

At the shed, Martha was now awake. She was still a little sleepy, as the drug hadn't worn off completely, but she could just about make out where she was and who with. Corey said hello and went over to her. Martha tried to get up. She just about stood up but then Corey pushed her back down, "We're going to have some fun" he said. Back in the other room Jack was still trying to untie himself without success. He soon heard Martha screaming in the other room. "Get off me" Martha yelled, but he could hear that she was failing to fight Corey off. Meanwhile, the police search was getting closer and closer to the forest. The search were Jack and Martha's only hope. The police saw the remote building quite deep in the woods after only about five minutes searching there.

"Boss, over here" one of them yelled out. Corey heard this. He realised that he had to get out of there without leaving any trace. In the corner was a bottle of petrol. He poured this around the walls of the shed and then threw a lit match down. The whole shed went up in flames with Martha and Jack trapped inside.

Beth was at the house still. Jodi was still awake. Beth heard screams from upstairs, she went upstairs into Lily's room to find her screaming for Jack. Beth tried to comfort her, but she wouldn't stop crying, especially when Jack would have normally come in to calm her down. She was surprised to see Beth, and this scared her even more. Indi then woke up and came into Lily's room to try and calm her down. Luckily, her and Lily were very close and got each other through everything, Lily then calmed down, and went downstairs to get some milk with Indi. By this time the boys were awake aswell, and wondering what was going on. Lily was sitting between Jodi and Harry, she was still breathing heavily as she had only just stopped crying. Lucas and Mattie had been told what had happened and had come over to help Beth out. Lucas was so like Jack that all of the kids found great comfort in him being there. Mattie was also very close to all of them, especially Charlie. Harry, Jodi and Charlie, had been told what had happened and were now quite upset. It had only just sunk in that they might never see their parents again.

Back at the shed, the police were trying to find a way in to the burning building. Martha was trying to untie Jack. Finally she freed his hands and untied the piece of rope that had gagged him. He untied his feet, and they then went into the room where Martha had been before. There was less smoke in there, especially if they shut the door. The wood in the shed was becoming weaker, and was about to collapse any moment. They had to go back in to the other room if they had any chance of surviving. The smoke had gotten to Martha and she had slipped into unconsciousnous. Jack needed to get them out of there. He headed over towards the door that was on fire. He looked around and found something that he could throw at it to try and open it. The empty can of petrol was lying on the floor. It was worth a try. He threw it as hard as he could, and luckily it opened just enought to get him and Martha out of there. He laid her down outside, and the paramedics came rushing over. They rushed Martha off to hospital. Jack went with her in the ambulance. In the ambulance Martha had stopped breathing. At the hospital, they tried to revive her, but failed, and she was put on life support. There was only a small chance of her waking up, and if she did wake up, it was most likely to be in the next couple of days. The only thing Jack could do was wait.

Back at the house, Beth had been told what had happened and that Martha was on life support. She told Jack that she would stay overnight, and look after the kids whilst he stayed at the hospital. The kids got told that mummy and daddy were alright and that they should go to bed, and get some sleep. They did as they were told, but they didn't sleep very well. Next morning, they had school. Beth had made their lunch and put out their breakfast, just like Martha or Jack would have done. She soon had to take them to school. At least school would try and keep their minds off their parents. After Beth had dropped them off, she went to the hospital, to see Jack and tell him that the kids were fine. Martha was now off life support, but she was still in a coma. She had started to breath on her own last night. Jack had stayed all night. He had been checked over by the doctors, and given the all clear. Beth went to get them two coffees. Just then Martha started to wake up. Jack went to get the doctor. He came in and helped Martha to sit up. She was now awake and well on her way to recovery. Jack stayed with Martha all lunch time, before he had to go and pick the kids up. Beth said she'd go, but Jack and Martha both agreed that they'd like to see either Jack or Martha picking them up. Jack went home to have a shower first.

At the school gate, the kids were so pleased to see Jack, they told him all about how they had found out about him being kidnapped, and how Jodi had rung Beth. Jack was so proud of them all for sticking together. He decided that he would take them to the hospital to see Martha. He knew that they were missing her. After they had had their dinner, he took them to the hospital. They ran into Martha's room and jumped on her bed. Martha was pleased to see them, but she was not her normal self. She was feeling terrible and she wasn't coping very well, with the fact that she had been raped, by a man that she had let into her own home, that she had let her kids see, and that Jack had worked with. Jack noticed this and decided to cut the visit short. Martha needed her rest. Beth took them home as Jack wanted to talk to Martha alone.

Chapter 35

Jack was taking Martha on a date. He knew that she needed some TLC. He had packed a picnic and was going to take her up to the cliff where they had had their first kiss. He had it all planned. What he hadn't planned was Corey. He hadn't been arrested by the police yet, they were still looking for him. He had heard what Jack was planning to do, and had decided what the plan for him was going to be, to finally get Martha. Jack and Martha walked hand in hand up to the cliff. Martha had needed Jack so much over the past couple of days. She couldn't have gotten through it without him. Beth had offered to look after the kids. Martha could relax and spend some quality time with Jack. Just what she needed.

Martha and Jack were sitting together looking out onto the horizon. They were still madly in love with one and other. Everything that they had been to had just brought them closer together. They had some glasses full of champagne. Martha was loving every minute of it. She turned around to face Jack and started kissing him. He put his hands round her back, and then moved them up towards he neck. Martha ran her fingers through Jack's hair and started kissing him on the neck. The time flew by as they were so engrossed in each other. The sun was beginning to set so Jack pulled Martha up and walked over to the cliff's edge. Martha stood back before Jack held out his hand. She grabbed hold of it and made sure that Jack held onto her. She wouldn't let him let go of her. Corey had followed them and watched every minute of this. Jack pulled apart from Martha and went to go and get some more champagne. Martha followed him. Corey then jumped out of the bush that he had been hiding behind and ran over to Jack. He pushed him until he was lying on the edge of the cliff. Martha was now in hysterics. She was begging Corey not to push Jack over the cliff, but Corey was ignoring her. With one last push he knocked Jack over. Martha watched his body drop into the water below. Corey realised what he had done, and started to run. Martha just sat there crying, the man she loved and that had gotten her through everything was now dead. Dead by a man that had raped her, and then tried to kill her and Jack before.

Someone had gone looking for Martha as it was so late. She hadn't moved from her position from the cliff for hours. Beth eventually found her, crying. Martha explained to Beth what had happened, and then she just started crying hysterically again. Beth was like a mother to her, and just started comforting her. She took her back home before calling the police, and telling them what had happened. The police came round straight away, to get all the information they needed. Martha couldn't tell them, so Beth did. Martha didn't sleep at all that night. She had to organise a memorial service. That way she cuold keep herself busy and keep her mind off how she was going to live without Jack.

Martha had decided to have the memorial service a week later, all of the kids were wearing black. The twins were trying to cope well, they all wanted to say something at the service, and Martha didn't want to stop them. There was only an hour before they had to leave. Lily was already crying, but Martha told her that she had to be strong for when she said all those wonderful things about daddy. Martha soon had to go so got the twins, Charlie, Indi and Lily together, and told them that daddy was watching them, and that he would be so proud of them. They arrived at the service first and went and took their seats at the front.

The service soon got under way, Tony made his speech, and then Beth. The twins went up first, as they were the oldest. Harry told everyone how much he loved his dad, because he taught him to surf. He wouldn't have won as many competitions if his dad hadn't of taught him. Jodi told everyone that her daddy told her a secret before he died and the secret was he told that he loved her mum so much he was going to propose again and I could be a bridesmaid but now I know that can't happen and I don't mind. All that I want is my daddy to come home and we can all live together like we should be, a family. Charlie was crying to much, so he didn't say anything. Indi went up next. Indi told everyone about the time when mummy wasn't home and how her jack had some bonding time and they spent the afternoon playing and with Jack tickling her tummy and now she wished that was what he was doing now to her at that minute. Last up was Lily she got down off Martha's lap and just said, "I miss you daddy and I still leave me little bedside lamp on in case you come home and give me good night kiss" and with that Martha eventally broke down in tears. Lily went up to her and told her not to cry mummy everthing will be okay and gave her a hug. Martha then had to make a speech. She had stopped crying now and had pulled herself together. She went and stood at the front. A single tear rolled down her cheek. “Everyone here is probly thinking ah well Mac at least you got 14 nearly 15 years of happiness from him and 5 beautiful children, but I would have rather had 14 unhappy years if that meant that he could stay here with me and his children. She stopped and a small smile appeared on her face “You know what Jack would say if he could see me now, he would say come on Mac pull yourself together you look a mess.” Everyone couldn't help but laugh at that as they knew that’s exactly what Jack would have said. Martha looked back on the 14 happy years they had spent together in her mind, their first kiss, date, engagement, wedding, and kids and with that she broke down screaming his name, Lily and Indi ran up to their mum and Lucas followed.They took her back to her seat where all her children surrounded her. Just then Peter came up to Martha and whispered something in her ear. She followed him outside.

"Well, I've just got some news, that Jack had been found, and he's alive" Peter said

"What, but" Martha managed to get out, she could hardly speak

"Yes, I know, it's a shock, but don't get your hopes up, he's in a pretty bad way, and he might not pull through. He's just been taken to the hospital and has gone into surgery straight away" Peter finished

"Has he gone to Yabbie Creek hospital?" Martha asked

"Yes, so I'm pretty sure you'd like to get there straight away, I'll tell everyone in there for you" Peter said

"Thanks Peter" Martha replied

"Oh, and by the way, Corey's been caught, and believe me when I say he'll be going down for a long time" Peter said before him and Martha went inside. Martha went to get the kids before leaving quickly. Everyony wondered what was going on. Martha left Peter to tell everyone.

As soon as Beth and Tony found out, they were straight down the hospital to see Martha, Lucas went to, but Peter told everyone else, that it would just be easier if only family went. Martha waited for about an hour with everyone else before a surgeon came over.

"Martha Holden" he said

"Yes, that's me" she replied, before taking Lily off her lap and placing her down beside her.

"Can I speak to you in private?" he asked

"Of course" she replied before heading down the corridor to where Jack's room was.

"Well, the surgery was touch and go, but Jack managed to pull through. The next day will be vital, if we are to be certain that he will fully recover, but so far the signs are looking hopeful, but nothing is guarenteed. He's currently still under sedation, but he should wake up in the next ten minutes" the surgeon finally finished.

"Thank you so much" Martha said

"You can go in and see him now, but only for fifteen minutes whilst he wakes up" the surgeon added. "But, no longer as he does need his rest"

"Thanks" Martha said again before going into Jack's room. She saw him sleeping so peacefully. She thought to herself how lucky she was that she had been given the chance to see the man she loved so much again. Not many other people had this chance. Martha pulled up a chair beside his bed, and started talking to him.

"Jack, today was your memorial service, alot of people came, the kids made speeches and so did I. I didn't know how I was going to cope without you. The kids were getting me through it, but it was so hard, but that's all in the past now because you're here, and you're alive, and I'm never going to let you out of my sites again, so that nothing bad ever happens to you. I thought that I'd never see you again. I thought that I'd lost you for good. The kids missed you so much. They're dying to see you, but the doctor says you need your rest" she finished. Jack started to move. He slowly opened his eyes. He saw Martha looking at him, with tears in her eyes. She only had five more minutes left with him before she had to go.

"Martha" he said so quietly, that you could only just make it out

"Jack, I'm here, and I always will be" Martha replied. She squeezed his hand, and then kissed it. "Jack I missed you so much, I thought that I'd never see you again" Martha added, she could feel the tears welling up in her eyes. He pulled her down into a hug. The surgeon came in and told Martha that she had to go. She could come back tommorow morning, but he needed his rest. Martha then left the surgeon to it. She blew Jack a kiss before leaving the room and going to seel everybody who were waiting to hear where Martha had been. Martha explained it all to them, and they were over the moon. The kids were the happiest, as their dad was back. Martha took them home though, as they were tired and just like their dad, needed their sleep.

Back home, Martha put the kids to bed. The twins went to sleep straight away, as did Charlie and Indi, but Lily came down and sat on Martha's lap. She was so happy that she had her daddy back, that she couldn't sleep. Martha went and got her some milk, and then she cuddled up to her. Lily eventually fell asleep in Martha's arms, so Martha took her upstairs to her own bed. Martha was tired herself so she went straight to sleep aswell. They all slept really well. In the morning, Martha had decided that the kids needed to go to school. It was for the best. Jack definitely wasn't up to having five excited children around him, no matter how gorgeous they were. As soon as she dropped them off, she headed straight to the hospital. Jack was awake, and looked so much better than he did the night before. The doctor was in there telling him how well he was doing. He was now sitting up and looked quite happy. He gave Martha one of those smiles that melted her heart when she walked in. She was so glad to see that smile again. She went over and kissed him on the lips. The doctor quickly left and left Jack and Martha to it.

"Jack I thought I'd lost you" Martha said before giving him another kiss. "You know the day that I got told that you were alright, we were having a memorial service for you" Martha added

"Really, were there lots of people there?" Jack asked

"There sure were." Martha replied

"So, I'm that popular am I?" Jack said jokingly

"So, you're that big headed are you" Martha added before kissing him again. Before Martha could take things any further, Beth and Tony walked in. Martha left to go and get a coffee. Maybe now after the weeks of misery her whole family had had, they could finally get things back on track.

I thought that as I hadn't updated that much over the last week, I'd give you three really long chapters to make up for it.

Aww! clever lil jodi calling Beth and the kids were soo adorable at the memorial service but I'm soo glad Jacks alive.
