Chapter 44

Rachel had now given up on shocking Martha as it clearly wasn't working. She had gone back to CPR. Dr. Young was watching her do this and could clearly sense that she wasn't going to give up. After observing for about a minute he told Rachel that she was pushing down on Martha's chest too hard. He managed to get her to let him take over, and luckily within two minutes they had gotten Martha breathing again. They hooked her up to the machine and managed to get her breathing steadily. Jack had also started breathing normally again now, after witnessing all of the events that involved Martha and death. Rachel then remebered that he was standing there and that he had to leave. She took him outside to where the rest of his family were. She explained to them what had just happened. At first they had a look of horror on their faces, but it soon turned to relief as Rachel finished.

Two hours later, and Martha was now doing much better. She was now stirring. She started to move when Jack and the kids entered the room. It was almost as if she could sense their presence. Five minutes later and she was now sitting up in bed, resting her head on Jack's shoulder, listening to the events that involved her earlier that day. Rachel then came in again and told Martha that she had to have an ultrasound to see how the baby was. Rachel asked if she wanted the kids there and Martha said that she would like to have them there. They comforted her. Rachel rubbed on the cold jelly on Martha's stomach. Then she looked for a heartbeat. There was one there, even though it was quite faint. As Martha was six months pregnant they could all see the baby moving around alot. This was the first time the kids had seen Martha having an ultrasound. It amazed Indi, but Charlie and the twins just acted as if it was something that they saw everyday.

Martha was now quite happy and talking alot. Jack had taken the kids home to Beth's house, and left Laura, Lucas, Ric and Becky with Martha. Martha liked their company but it wasn't Jack or her children. Her near death experience made her realise that she did love Jack and that she needed to be with him there and at that very momeny. They weren't taking things to slow, it was just that Martha hadn't realised how much they all meant to her. Much to Martha's delight Jack came back rather quickly. He went and sat by her and they were soon left alone as Lucas and Laura has said that they would go and pick up the things from the lake, and Becky and Ric had to get back to Summer Bay. They were planning to leave early anyway as they were going to the city, as Becky had some work there.

FOUR DAYS LATER

Martha was now allowed to come home. She had recovered well and her leg was now in a cast. That meant that Jack had to wait on her hand and foot, and of course Martha had no objections.

I know its short but I'm off to bed
