I'm guessing spoilers aren't allowed? :(:P

Well it doesn't bother me personally, but it will bother some people.

Thanks for all the entries so far guys. I currently have four which is amazing considering I only posted it last night.

Just a reminder: The competition will close Wednesday 6th June at 6pm Australian time

In terms of voting when the actual competition has been posted, usually votes have to nominate a reason. But votes have been lagging lately ... does anyone have any suggestions on how we could get vote numbers up?

Thanks Rosey. :)

I've just gone and looked at the voting for the Cartoon Contest ...

The voting works that points are alloted for first, second and third. If there are five icons:

1. x

2. z

3. y

4. a

5. b

and the points were allocated like this:

1st - 5 points

2nd - 3 points

3rd - 1 point

If you wanted to vote for icon x, a, y

Your vote would look like

1st - x (Icon 1)

2nd - a (Icon 4)

3rd - y (Icon 3)

And then I would give 5 points to icon x, 3 to icon a and 1 to icon y. Obviously the icons with the least amount of votes would be voted out each round.

Reasons for why you vote for each icon could be made optional.

What does everyone think about this idea?

I think that's a good idea. :) Makes it more interesting, also people who want to give comments can which is good.

Thanks Aaron. And yeh I agree, because whilst some people like giving comments others aren't sure of the "technical side" of things/feel/have the time to give a comment. So this way everyone is kept happy. :)

I don't want to be negative but I thought the idea of LIMS was to get some honest feedback on icons as it's very hard to get constructive critisism in the other contests and when you post. I'm not a huge fan of the ranking system and I think the voting for this should stay the same personally, it's ok for some of the other contests but with this one you get a 'position' so to speak anyway due to the way the rounds are done. Just my opinion but I say leave this one as it is!

I understand what you both mean, Amy and flutterby. But lately, especially in the last couple of rounds it has been really difficult to get alot of votes for each round. So I guess it comes down to if people would prefer more votes (because it seems to me, many people do not have the time or knowledge to spend giving critisim) or less votes with crisitism. I just thought that if we changed up the style, even for just a trial we could see how things went. Also in the other method suggested, it is possible (and encouraged) that people give comments.

More opinions are needed ... what would people prefer?

One thing I do like when I take part in this contest is the comments people give,I hope that doesn't go..Even if it is made as a option.

As for the actual voting,I think too many contests are now doing the 1st=10 points 2nd= 5 points and 3rd = 2 points..I know it gives people more of a chance to win,but on this one there are rounds..But then again, like you said..People arent voting that much.

I think the main thing I want is for the comments to stay or be a option and hope that people do give a opinion on them..Its good knowing what people like about it.

As a maker, I agree with you guys about the comments. I really like this competition because people are give constructive critism which assits you to improve as a maker.

It seems like most people would prefer the competition voting to remain how it was ... ?
