I had a really good birthday :D Got my Guitar, & met up with a close friend of mine, Jason. He really is lovely, so lucky to have him in my life :) Shame we cant be anything more, as I still have feelings for him. He's such a good friend though, a very special man! He's normally, sometimes a private person, but we talk a heck of a lot, about everything, & it's all great! x

I had my interview at Canterbury Christ Chruch University yesterday & all I can say is thank goodness it was over. The day started out fine. It's about an hours drive away & my parents took me. So, we had the CRB declaration, etc & a welcome speech. By that time, I was clock watching, waiting to come & be collected for my interview.

No word of a lie, whne they read out my name, I stood up & I could have either cried or collapsed to the ground in absolute shock. Even my mum said to me, if there was a door next to me, I would have run straight through it. It was honestly the most terrifying experience of my life.

All that was going through my mind was; I don't want to do this, I've changed my mind, I can't do it.

But when I eventually went through with it, it went okay. I had a group presentation & I generally dislike presenting in front of a crowd of people but there were nine of us & it wasn't so bad. I got my point across clearly & used the correct terms too. Then we had a short written taks (10 minutes long) & we had to evaluate what we had done (skills we used for the presentation, etc). Thirdly (& finally) we had to do a group interview, which was basically answering lots of questions & what would you do if you were put into a situation.

For example, well, I want to be a primary school teacher & some questions were; What would you do if a child in your care consistantly did not complete homework, how would you deal with a parent if they are angry about a situation?

We were all told that even though we don't know it, we have already done the hard part in getting there for that interview because clearly to them as a university, our personal statements & references stood out & we are worth interviewing.

But the demand is so high this year, with university fees increasing so I don't want to get my hopes up too high.

But the main point of this post was that I'm so bloomin' happy that it's over with!

That's fantastic! Well done Carina for getting through it and keeping your nerve! I remember when I went for my interview for University I felt so sick and was ill all evening when I came home because I'd stressed myself out so much as it was my only choice.

I went to Canterbury University (but not Christ Church - I was at the University of Kent at the top of the hill who will be your rivals :P ) Canterbury is beautiful I'm sure you'll love it there! (That's how confident I am in you :D )

You did brilliant to get shortlisted in the first place, fingers crossed for you. Let me know how you get on!

Wow, really? University of Kent?

I went there for the open day where they give you brochures, leaflets, free pens, etc & you go around to the tables & find out about different universities.

It is such a beautiful place & the town centre is local as well & yeah ... in general, it's such an amazing place.

I would be staying away from home now though because it's a bit difficult for me to travel but I'm quite happy with that.

I am looking forward to staying away from home, nervous about leaving my family & everything but that's to be expected.

What did you study at university then? If you don't mind me asking.

The freebies are the best :D The cathedrals stunning, you can see it in the distance from the campus of UKC! The bus into town is really cheap as well and it's a nice walk in the summer. I stayed away from home to, it's difficult at first but that's normal :) Just try and get as involved as possible with the people where you're staying and you'll be fine, you'll eventually find those you do and don't get on with. They tend to put people with similar courses together which will be better, you'll probably find they're the ones you're most likely to bond better with, especially at first!

I studied English Literature (but gave it up because I hated it  ) But Canterbury is lovely :D BaaBars (as I think the Canterbury Christ Church students call it - its The Works for UKC) will become your second home :P

Aww, thanks for that bit of info :)

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it (hopefully I'll be excepted) & although I'm nervous, I'll still be able to travel home most weekends.

But if I mix with people which I intend to do anyway, at least I can go out more often.
