Charles and Diana got married on Wednesday, 29th July 1981 in St Paul's Cathedral. She looked beautiful and they seemed very much in love. She wore a dress designed by David and Elizabeth Emmanual. The day was hot and sunny and declared a Bank Holiday. There were street parties all over the UK, where generations came together to celebrate.

Pictures of Charles and Diana's wedding

My brother was part of a Dramatics society and I went with him in the afternoon to a street fair in the afternoon.

I think it's very sad that the over hype caused by the media has put people off celebrating the wedding tomorrow.

& your husband can gawp at Natalie Portman?

I must admit, & this is coming from someone totally straight, honestly, I am not gay but she is quite hot.

I can see why a man would be attracted to her.

Yes, Natalie is exactly his type- small and dark. Hence why he married me  He doesn't like blondes, he thinks they're too obvious.

Charles and Diana 30 years ago!

I remember it quite well. We lived in a big house with a big garden in those days. We got a long adaptor lead for the television and put it in the garden. And invited our neighbours round to watch and have a buffet lunch. Just imagine, there were only THREE television channels in those days. So we watched BBC1 as my parents disapproved of the advertising on ITV. Another time, another world.

I didn't like Diana's dress, it was far too flouncy and like a meringue, but I'm not a girlie girl at all, I hate things like that.

It was a lovely day, the last happy summer for a long time, so I remember it rather like a dream. My dad died the next summer and my world turned to complete **** for the next few years. The royal wedding marked the end of my childhood really, at 12.

Perhaps thats why I'm not incredibly excited by this wedding- what will happen afterwards in my life  Just thought of that....

I am very happy ... I woke up at 7.30am this morning to watch the Royal Wedding.

I am proud to be British.

I actually cannot wait to see the dress.

I agree that Diana's dress was awfully big ... They showed a few clips of other Royal Weddings.

I must admit, I don't believe in heaven (even though I'd like to believe it) but I hope that if there is such a place, I know Diana would be watching over William today :)

Diana's dress was beautiful. A perfect representation of the fashion at the time and an introduction of the style she would have later on. It was young and girlish with enough oomp for someone marrying a Royal.

I thought the wedding was perfect :D They seem like such a lovely, genuine couple and very much in love. Kate looked stunning, her dress was so classic, understated and elegant. I loved it :)

Diana would be very proud, I believe she's watching over him today! Such a bittersweet day!

Every look they gave each other during the ceremony was lovely.

Oh yes, I am too very proud to be British. Such a lovely, genuine couple. & what a lovely couple of kisses.

I am pretty sure that as soon as Kate made it up the aisle, William said something (& I lip read) & I think he said; you look beautiful.

Even if he didn't, I'm gonna think he said that for the rest of my life

It was just such a beautiful ceremony.

I am so glad that her dress wasn't so long for the train ... that wouldn't have been too good ... but at least there was still some length.

I completely agree, Ellen ... they just looked so happy & in love.
