chatter box Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 I lived in Canada as a child and remember it being as low as - 30 or - 40 some winters and there being a lot of snow. It does not always feel cold like to does in the UK though because it is a dry cold rather than a damp cold so it does not penetrate to your bones in the same way. I found the UK to feel much colder even at 2 or 3 degrees. Go figure It still feels odd having Christmas in a 40 degree climate. For Christmas I would like world peace, agreement on global warming, Madeleine McCann and all other missing children found and returned home, and a lie in on Christmas morning with my husband bringing me breakfast in bed (not much chance with my little daughter waking excitedly at 5.00 a.m wanting too see what santa has delivered )
carmelle Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 ^^awww!!! Im not going to get much of a Christmas holiday this year as I've just been asked to work for most of it and im trying my best not to moan about it too much as the extra money will be great. I dont really want much for Christmas, just a break from the usual things and the chance to spend some time with family and friends and have a good catch up. A white Christmas would be a real bonus, but im not going to get my hopes up.
Lesley Bee Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 I hate working at christmas i only get christmas eve and christmas day, then back to work on boxing day and working through new year Still day off tomorrow, so its present wrapping time i think.

Tasha Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 Well mum says that my plane ticket to Melbourne and back is part of my xmas prezzie ('cause im going on friday for a week with my cousin) and im also getting a laptop on tuesday, so that'll be another part of my prezzie. But i am hoping, no praying, that my mum'll buy me the Michael Clarke memorabilia frame thingy from the place at Towers. Ive been begging her for it, but shes like $400 is too much, since my prezzies so far have come up to over $3000 But i will make her get it for me. I have to have it And also im getting $1000 shopping money for Melbourne, so i think ive gotten more than enough this year, but i guess it makes up for the lack of prezzies every other year I have a job though, but i got from the 21st to the 2nd of Jan off Woot!! Helps that its my uncles' company So i told mum that if she doesnt buy me the frame, i'll buy it with my work money, hehe
-Andrew- Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 Can someone please come and De-Grinch me ?I haven't felt one bit of excitement this year, whereas last year, I'd be writing laminated christams (Edit: see I can't even spell christmas right!!!) lists in august, surely I haven't grown out of it that much in one year. Though its probably the lack of wanting anything thats causing the scrooginess
Cal Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 Can someone please come and De-Grinch me ?I haven't felt one bit of excitement this year, whereas last year, I'd be writing laminated christams (Edit: see I can't even spell christmas right!!!) lists in august, surely I haven't grown out of it that much in one year. Though its probably the lack of wanting anything thats causing the scrooginess Well, the fact that Christmas adverts came on TV in August doesn't help. By now, people are sick of it. And when you begin to get older, you don't want anything for Christmas. It's so weird...
claire_louise Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 ^ It's because by the time you get to about 18 you already have everything! I don't want anything special this year either, but I prefer to get lots of small surprises rather than one big thing anyway. The biggest thing I could think of was a new dressing gown. And having my birthday on Christmas Eve means I have to think of even more stuff. Then again, there are worse problems a girl could have!
