Finally been able to catch up! Great writing... yay Pete and Leah! Too bad Dan had to find out, but I do love it when he flies off the handle, he's so entertaining. Poor Sally though, what was Pete thinking!

Before he could stop himself in time, he had knocked Colleen over as she stood up holding her shopping. Colleen’s bags flew upwards and she hit the floor hurting her back, screaming “Arghhhhh!”

I can soooo picture that in my head... sound effects and all. :P Great fic, please update soon! Pretty please!

Dan looked at Sally, who just looked at Pete.

“Sal?” Dan said hoping it wasn’t true.

“I’m sorry.”

Dan’s anger took over him as he looked at his brother standing in front of him. Dan raged at his brother and he swung his fist knocking Pete to the ground.

“Dan!” Sally shouted as she tried to stop him doing any more damage to Peter.

Dan was dragged away by Sally as Leah tried to see if Pete was ok.

“Go after Dan!” he shouted as he virtually pushed her away.

Pete slowly picked himself up and held his cheek that was aching from Dan’s power punch. He starts to walk towards the Surf Club where he hears, “Dad!” being shouted from behind him. He turns and sees Drew standing a distance away, hiding something behind his back.

“Hey, Dad!” Drew said happy to see his dad.

As Pete looked at his son he knew that what ever would come in the conversation would turn bad. He knew that Drew deserved to know the truth but he just didn’t know how to start or whether it was best to just not tell him at all, then jump in his car and just drive until he couldn’t any more.

“What the hell happened to your face?” Drew asked as he saw his dad try and hide the big bruise that was forming on his face.

“It’s nothing.” Pete said trying to reassure his son.

“How come you are back?” Pete asked quickly changing the subject.

“Erm… Gran caught the sickness bug so Granddad thought it was best to come home early.” Drew explained.

“What’s that behind your back?”

“Erm… I saw this and I knew that you have been through a rough patch over the last couple of months.” said Drew as he handed Pete a rectangular box.

Pete smiled as he opened the box to see a silver watch.

“It’s amazing.” Pete said as he saw Drew smile at him.

“Turn it over.”

Pete turned over the watch, only to see ‘World’s greatest Dad’ engraved on it. Pete was amazed and tears began to well up in his eyes.

“Dad?” Drew said as Pete wrapped his arms around him, hugging him tight.

“Thank you.” replied Pete as he smiled before saying, “I have got to go but I will talk to you later” and quickly walked away from his son, not wanting to look back.

Pete kept walking and thoughts passed through his mind. One thing Pete regretted the most was sleeping with Amanda while she was still with Dan. But, that didn’t matter to him any more because Dan, luckily, forgave him. And, that was the only thing he wanted in the world. But, throughout his life the one was thing he wished that never happened was going undercover at the same time he first met Drew. He hated watching him walk away from Drew. It was beating him inside because he had just done exactly what he used to. Walk away.

Pete was determined not to let one thing slip through his fingers. That was the only woman who had made him feel special and actually feel loved, Sally. He loved her to bits and was determined to get her back. No matter what.

Pete suddenly stopped as the thought of losing Sally came to him. he turned round and ran as fast as he could towards the house. All he could think about was Sally; nothing else mattered at this point. He was running so fast he could hardly breathe and his eyes were concentrated on the house. Whilst he was running, he didn’t notice Colleen bending over to pick up her shopping.

Before he could stop himself in time, he had knocked Colleen over as she stood up holding her shopping. Colleen’s bags flew upwards and she hit the floor hurting her back, screaming “Arghhhhh!”

Pete wasn’t in the right state of mind so he didn’t even stop to check if she was alright. He was so focused on trying to get Sally back that he just continued running.

He eventually arrived at the house where he knocked on the front door that was already open.

“Sal?”

There was no answer so he slowly poked his head around the door and he saw Sal watching a DVD of their family picnic from the other week. She looked up at Pete who started to enter the house, she paused the tape and said,

“Go away!”

“Please Sal, you have got to let me explain,” he pleaded with her.

Sal got up and leaned down and pulled the tape from the tape player as she threw it at Pete.

Pete picked up the tape and he moved further towards her saying,

“Sal, I love you, and you’re all I have.”

Sal looked at him in disgust and shouted,

“I loved you! You meant everything to me!”

“I can still mean everything to you. You don’t know how sorry I am.”

Ric was just about to enter the house when he heard:

“You kissed my best friend! How the hell can I ever forgive you?”

“Please, Sal, I’m sorry.” Pete replied.

“I screwed up. I’m a failure. I can’t even be a dad to my own son. I screw up all the relationships that I have. I ruin my brother’s relationships because I can’t stand to see him so happy. Clare cheated on me. Lilly might not even be mine. I deserve everything that’s happening to me after what I’ve done." Peter rambled on.

“For your information, you were the one who was the bad brother! You were the one who cheated with my wives behind my back!”

“And like you didn’t?”

“What?!?!”

“You and Clare! Don’t think I didn’t know about that!”

“What on earth are you talking about?”

“Don’t lie to me! You and Clare slept together. I found you both together!”

Enjoy :D

:o Dan and Clare!!!! OMG! I have always secretly wanted that to happen!

Gosh I feel so sorry for Pete, he is the big brother and yet he is always getting beaten up by Dan. Isn't it ironic that Dan is a counsellor and he always resorts to violence to solve his problems?

Great chapter! Please update soon!

Ric had heard enough. He raced over to Pete grabbed his shirt and shouted.

“How the hell could you hurt my mum like that?”

He then dragged Pete over to the door and threw him out. Peter landed on the floor. As he watched Ric slam the door, there was nothing else for Pete to do. He had lost the only woman he loved.

He picked himself up from the floor and looked at the door. He wanted to badly to hit it down and to just yell for Sally to open the door but he couldn’t. A part of him was afraid of Alf coming up to him and giving him a hiding. So he walked off in the hopes that maybe, if he gave her some time, she would cool off and he could try again. Before he could go however, the door opened. It was Ric and Rocco. They were lugging a big bag in which they threw at Peter. Luckily he jumped back just in time before it could hit him. Then, the door slammed shut in his face. He walked towards the bag and realized that it was his. They had thrown out his belongings and he had no where else to go anymore. He couldn’t go back to Amanda’s and neither could he go back to Dan and Leah’s place. The only place left for him, was the police station which he had been banned from and his car. He decided to go to the bar first.

As he walked along the road, heading towards the bar to drown his sorrows once again, a man riding a bicycle passed by him. He was riding so fast that he couldn’t stop in time and nearly ran Peter off the road. This was not a good thing as Peter was already in a bad mood over the day’s incident and this was the last straw.

Never in his life would Jack Holden see the day that Peter Baker would be harassing an innocent bystander. And that was exactly what Peter Baker was doing. Jack had been walking home from work when he heard two men arguing. As he got closer, he saw a man with a familiar wave of blonde hair and another man who was unrecognizable. They were arguing and Jack knew that he’d have to step in. however, before her could get there, he saw Peter shove the guy towards the sidewalk and on to the floor.

The man got up and started to shove Peter, this time pushing him on the floor. Peter got up and was about to deck him when Jack finally arrived in time to stop him.

“Mate, stop! What are you doing?!”

“Ask him! He was the one who started it!” yelled Pete.

“Me? He was the one who started it!”

“Me? Who the hell gave you your driving license?”

“What?”

“Are you blind? You ran me over, you moron!” Pete spat at him.

“Well, who asked you not to watch where you were going?” the guy yelled back.

“What did you say?” Peter asked getting worked up and struggling against Jack.

“That’s enough! Both of you!” Jack was fed up.

He looked at the man and said,

“Get out of here. I’ll sort this out.”

“What? You’re letting him go? He was in the wrong!” Peter yelled. He was this close to hitting Jack.

“Peter! Calm down! You’re not thinking straight! If you don’t, I’m going to have to take you down to the station and book you! Do you want that? Do you want Clare to see you like that? Do you want Murphy to see you like that? Huh?”

That did the trick and Peter finally calmed down. He was breathing heavily and he finally collapsed into Jack’s shoulder and cried. It was an awkward scene for anyone passing by them at the moment for they would have seen an older man crying on the shoulder of a much younger man. Jack, however, knew that something was up and it only proved his suspicions when he had asked Peter if he was alright that morning.

“Pete, what’s happened?” jack asked.

“My whole life is ruined.” He sobbed.

“What do you mean?”

“I ruined it. It’s all my fault. Clare was right. Sally was right. Dan was right. Drew was right. Amanda was right. Everyone of you were right.”

Jack was spooked. He knew that something was definitely not right in the mind of Peter Baker and he was going to do what he could for his friend.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

“No! I just want to go! I just want to get away from here!”

“How about, you and me go to Noah’s for a drink?”

“I just came from there! I’m not going back there!”

“How about you come over to my place, then? We can talk there.” Jack offered.

So, off they went to Jack’s place where Peter was given a bottle of beer and told his mate what had happened.

“I screwed up. I’m a failure. I can’t even be a dad to my own son. I screw up all the relationships that I have. I ruin my brother’s relationships because I can’t stand to see him so happy. Clare cheated on me. Lilly might not even be mine. I deserve everything that’s happening to me after what I’ve done.” Peter rambled on.

All the while, Jack Holden sat and listened to Peter’s narration. He felt sorry for Peter. He had never seen a man so messed up like this before in his entire life. Not even his dad when his mother died. He offered Peter a room to stay but Pete declined saying,

“I have a few things to sort out and then I’m going to leave town. For good.”

“But, what about Drew?”

“When he finds out about this, he’s going to hate me, anyway.” Peter said dejectedly. “Listen, mate, thank you very much.”

“Don’t mention it. Things will be alright.”

As soon as Peter Baker stepped out of the house, he knew where he had to go. He had to go to his brother’s place and make up for what he had done. He was going to do that and say goodbye. ‘That’s the least that I can do,’ he thought to himself. As he made his way to their place, all he could think about was his son. Peter knew that he was taking the coward’s way out but this was the only way to stop him from hurting anymore people. He had hurt Sally. Soon, the whole town would find out and they were never going to forgive him for it.

When he arrived, he took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

“Dad!”

“Drew!”

“Come in! Guys, it’s dad!”

“Thanks. Dan, Leah.”

“Pete” they said in unison.

“I came to explain.”

“Hah!” Dan scoffed.

“What?”

“You? Coming to explain? How many times have I heard it before? Let’s see. Now let me count.”

“Look, Dan, what happened wasn’t Leah’s fault. and from the looks of it, I don’t think you blame her for it.”

“No! Because she’s my wife! She loves me and I love her! You, on the other hand, are my brother and it is of no surprise. First Amanda and then Leah! When will you ever learn to keep your hands away from my women?”

“Your women? Oh, so now it’s your women! What about the time with you and Clare? Did you ever see me hitting the roof? I forgave you for that because you were drunk! I was drunk. Unless of course your wife didn’t think to tell you that!”

“Are you saying that my wife is a liar?”

“Well, she would be if she didn’t tell you that I was drunk!”

“You leave her out of this, Peter!”

“You’re the one who started it first!”

“Don’t you dare put words in my mouth!” Dan yelled whilst shoving Peter.

“I AM NOT!” Peter yelled back and shoved Dan back.

Meanwhile, Leah and Drew just stood there staring. Neither of them wanting to interfere with the argument. Leah stared in amazement as the argument got more and more heated. Drew, meanwhile, was taken aback. There were so many things that he didn’t know about his father and it was all coming out like a big leak. He knew Peter Baker was not perfect but he finally knew.

“I did not do anything with Clare whilst you were together! Nothing ever happened! If you remember, Leah and I were engaged to be married when you both got together!”

“Before Clare and I even got back together! Before you and Leah ever got together!”

“What are you talking about mate? I didn’t meet Clare until the night at the bar when you introduced us. I only knew about Clare because you told me about her!” Dan was shocked at Peter’s wild accusations.

“Don’t lie to me!” Peter yelled whilst picking up a picture and started to smash it.

“Get off me!” Peter yelled as he struggled between his brother and his son.

“No!” they yelled in unison. “Not until you calm down!”

“Get off me!” he yelled again.

“No, dad! Not until you’re yourself again!”

“Let me go! I’m going out of here! I’m leaving!” peter tried again.

“Stop right there. Don’t look around. Stay still. Listen. We have something of yours.”

Pete was confused as started to take in what he had just been told.

“Who is this? What do you want? I don't have time to play these sick little games with you! Go find someone else!” he yelled.

Pete waited for some answers from the mystery person who clearly stated,

“If you want it, come and get it. Old Green Lane, the old house in 10 minutes else you will lose her.”

Who will Pete loose?

Will Drew go after his dad?

Next bit:

When he was done, he picked up the table and turned it over in anger. The occupants of the room just looked in shock. Dan and Drew immediately ran over to Peter to try and stop him from doing anymore damage to the house, but to no avail.

“What?” Drew asked and he let go of his firm grip on his father.

When Drew let go of him, Dan had no strength to stop Peter so he let go as well. He need not have to worry as Peter immediately ran out of the house and got into his car and drove off, leaving Dan, Drew and Leah behind to figure out what had just happened.

All three were silent as they tried to figure out what they had just witnessed. Drew had never seen his father this crazy before. ‘Crazy? More like completely lost the plot,’ Drew thought to himself as he went into the broom cupboard to get a broom and a dustpan to sweep up the broken pieces.

Meanwhile, Leah looked at Dan as he started picking up the table and chairs that Peter had just thrown on the floor in his fit of madness. He looked stunned and she didn’t want to disturb him but she had to know if what Peter said was true about Dan and Clare.

Dan was stunned. Peter had clearly done it again. Yet, this time, he had gone a step further. He had kissed his wife yet again but to make things worse, we decided that Dan had slept with Clare. Dan was more worried than angry. From the moment Peter had accused him, he knew something was up. Peter always admitted his wrongs when he knew he was in the wrong. This time, not only did he not apologize, instead, he went on a violent rampage. Dan was glad that VJ and Ryan weren’t here to witness this.

He could sense Leah looking at him. When they had arrived home earlier, Leah had made him sit down and she had explained what when wrong. He knew she was not at fault but was still angry about it. He stole a glance at her and knew what she wanted.

“Nothing happened between Clare and I. Peter made it u. sometimes, I wonder what goes on in his head. You have nothing to worry about. I don’t cheat on my wife like my brother does.”

All Leah could do was to go to him and embrace him. And that was how Drew found them when he came back into the living room. He had overheard his uncle and aunt and he knew something was up. After all, Andrew Curtis was the son of ‘Detective Peter Baker, most famous for saving the town of Summer Bay from the Summer Bay Stalker.’ He didn’t want to interrupt his uncle and aunt so he decided to go out for a walk and clear his head.

Pete kept driving his car until he started to lose control of the steering wheel. His head was spinning, and he was all over the place until he managed to place his foot on the breaks, which led his car to the side of the road.

He slowly opened the car door and stumbled on to the grass were he only just managed to hold himself up right. Pete looked in different directions as he wondered which way to go. He closed his eyes and started to walk, trying to forget everything that had happened over the last few weeks.
