Traceve Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Since we're not allowed to post anything just yet, *cough*Shan*cough* here's a teaser: Sorry! Thanks for the teaser, it would have been so cute if Drew called him Daddy!
swfc Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Lol, I'll post the next chapter soonish. It would be wrong for him to call Peter "Daddy" because he never did that in the show and it would sound kinda wrong. But, I totally agree with you. It would be so cute and awww and
swfc Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Next two chapters for Shannon to cheer her up Dan, Leah and Drew were all waiting at home for Claire to give them the answer. Drew sat on the chair thinking that the same dad who saved him from Dennis Gillian would walk through the front door fighting strong with a big smile on his face. Drew knew deep down that his dad would do anything to save the people he loved. He was not a killer. Dan shot up off his chair as he heard Claire enter the house. “Claire, where is he?” “He was denied bail. We tried everything. But, when it came up in court that he flew off the handle at passers-by, well, the judge thought it was best for his own good and everyone else that bail was to be denied.” Drew looked up in shock as he said, “Dad hasn’t been in a right state of mind. The best thing for him now is to be here with us. We can get him through this.” “Drew, mate, your dad knows that you love him no matter what the outcome is. But I know that he is not going to give up!” “How? He was in a mess the last time I saw him.” Dan said “I know Peter. Well, when he was leaving the courtroom he gave me a smile. the smile that always said that he was going to be ok.” “A smile that means nothing!” Drew shot at Claire “No, Drew she is right. When we were growing up, he told me to smile if I was ever in trouble and he would do the same. Pete knows what he is doing. You have to trust him.” Dan explained. “I better be getting back to the station.” “I want to see dad.” Drew insisted “Do you think that’s a good idea?” Leah asked. “Well, I want to see him today!” Drew demanded. “Ok. I will take you now.” Claire said as Drew grabbed his coat and waited for Claire to leave. Meanwhile Noelene and Kevin arrived back at their home in Molumbye from a two week break in Sydney. After everything that had happened in the past few months, they just needed a break. As they opened the front door they picked up their mail and headed into the living room where Noelene noticed a Summer Bay newspaper. As she looked at the front page she saw, ‘TOP DETECTIVE CHARGED WITH MURDER’ with a picture of Peter under the headlines. She dropped the paper in shock as Kevin wondered what was going on. Preview: How will Pete’s parents react to the news that he is a murderer? Lara and Jack watched as Pete walked into the interview room. Jack looked on as Drew waited in the other room, anxious to see his dad. Claire walked out of the office and entered the interview room followed by Drew. Just as they were about to enter, Claire looked over at Lara and Jack saying, “He wants to talk to his dad alone so keep out of the other room.” Drew was really nervous. He didn’t know what he was going to say to his dad but he knew that all he wanted to hear was that he didn’t kill Tracey. “Dad.” Pete turned round as he saw Drew walking towards him. He immediately stood up and hugged his confused son. Claire looked over at them both hugging before walking out of the interview room leaving them alone. Pete let go of Drew before sitting back down and watched Drew sit in front of him. “Son, I didn’t want you to come.” “I wasn’t sure whether or not to come either. But, I had to see you.” “How are things at home?” “Yeah, everyone is fine. VJ and Ryan are missing you. They’re always asking about you.” “Does the town know yet?” “A story was published yesterday with you on the front page.” “I don’t need to ask what the headline was.” “It does not matter what the paper said. All I know is that you didn’t do it.” Drew watched as he saw Pete just look at him. This made Drew really start to doubt his dad. “Dad, you didn’t, did you? Dad!” Drew said demanding an answer from Pete. Pete sat up from his chair and he looked into Drew’s eyes. “Mate, I don’t know. I really don’t.” “Dad, you can’t have!” “You saw me. The past few weeks, how I lost it at the smallest things. Well, what if I did it?” Drew was shocked but he knew that his dad was not capable of murder. “Dad, look at me!” Drew shouted as he pulled his dads face to look at him. “Remember when you saved me from Dennis? You told me you loved me and that you would do anything to keep me safe! Well, that’s how I feel about you. Dad, I love you!” “What do you mean?” Pete asked as he saw Drew get up “Anything!” Drew said as he walked out of the interview room leaving Pete confused as to what he meant. Pete got up and walked after Drew but was stopped by Claire who was standing by the door. Claire pulled Pete back into the room when she saw something was wrong. “What’s wrong?” Pete got all worked up as he tried to go after Drew but was stopped by Claire. “What is wrong?” Claire shouted as she held him back. “Drew! He is going to do something that he will regret! I won’t let him do it!” he yelled back at her. Claire put her arms on Pete’s shoulders as she said, “Just calm down. I will go after him.” Lara and Jack took Pete back to the cell as Claire raced over to Dan’s house to find Drew. Claire ran towards the Paterson house when she saw Dan’s car in the drive way. She raced for the front door and yelled, “Dan!” “What?” he shouted as he walked over to Claire “Where’s Drew?” “Isn’t he with Pete?” “No! He stormed out of the station telling Peter that he would make everything ok!” “What the hell? I’ll grab the keys and we will go look for him.” Just as they were about to leave, Drew entered the house. “Where’s the fire?” he said. “What? Where have you been?” Claire asked worriedly. “After I saw dad I just had to get out. If he thinks that I am going to do something stupid then, he will keep sane and keep fighting for his freedom to save me.” “No, Drew. It will just make him more pissed off because he is innocent. And, he’ll start to throw his anger around!” Dan shot back at him. “Dan, trust me. I know that he will be ok. I’m just like him so I know how he will react.” “So. that means I have to go along with this as well?” Claire asked “Yeah, just keep telling him that I will not tell you what happened in the interview. It will make him fight for his freedom to come and keep me out of trouble.” Drew insisted. “I don’t like the sound of this. But, if he starts to get out of control I will have to tell him the truth.” “Ok. Ok, but I promise you it will work.” Claire left the house knowing that Drew could be right but she was stopped in her place by Pete’s mum standing before her. “Noelene!” Claire said in shock as she saw Noelene walk straight past her and into the house. “Mum!” “Gran!” “You know after the whole witness protection stuff, I thought you would have learnt that I want to know how my son is coping. Also, if he is being charged with murder!” she shouted at Dan “He didn’t do it so there was no point getting you all worked up.” “Well, the news paper thinks they have hard evidence against him!” she shot at Dan as she threw the paper at him. “How did you get this?” “It was delivered while we were away.” “We better go and show it to Claire.” Dan said as he, Drew and Noelene left the house. Claire and Jack were sitting in the office talking about how Pete was once she left the station. Claire was just about to explain to Jack what Drew had said when there was a knock on the door. Drew, Noelene and Dan entered showing them the newspaper. “That’s yesterday’s paper.” “Yes, and it was delivered to mum’s door.” “Anyone could have taken it there.” “We only moved in a week ago. Hardly anyone knew.” Noelene stated. Jack started to look through the paper when he found a picture of Pete and Noelene hugging. “Is this yours?” Jack asked. “No.” Claire looked at Jack as they both knew that the picture was a surveillance picture. “Ok, we will send it of and have it checked for fingerprints.” Jack said as he put the paper in an evidence bag. Just as Noelene was going to leave she stopped, turned round, and said, "I want to see Peter.” Jack looked at Claire who nodded in agreement. Noelene sat in the interview as she waited for Pete to come in. “Mum.” Pete said as he ran over and hugged her. Peter Baker had never been so relieved to see his mother. He hugged her so tightly and she did the same. He had no idea how he felt but what he was sure off was that he needed his family. He needed them to tell him that everything was going to be okay. That he would be going home soon. That he didn’t kill Tracey. Even though, a part of him believed that he did. Even if he had not shot her, he had sent her to her grave when he rejected her. And he blamed himself ever since. “How’re you holding up, son?” “I’m hanging in there. How did you know? Did Dan tell you?” “No. apparently, your brother thinks that this wasn’t such a big deal and that your father and I didn’t need to know about this.” She fumed. “How’s dad?” “He’s still in a bit of a daze. I told him that I wanted to come and see you.” “Is he here as well?” “No. he wasn’t up to the trip.” “Oh.” “Now, Pete, I don’t want you thinking that your father thinks you’re guilty, because you’re not. He’s just exhausted from the trip.” “I know. How did you find out, then, if Dan didn’t tell you.” “Through the papers. Someone sent it to us. We found it on our doorstep when we got back.” “Someone sent it to you? Why? Who would do something like that?” “No idea. Look, son, you hang on tight in there, okay? We’re going to get you out of there no matter what it takes, okay?” “So, you believe that I didn’t do it?” “I know it in my heart, son. You would never do such a thing. You’re a cop. A good one at that. And you spent your life locking people up for doing things like what you’re being charged for. And besides, you’re my son.” “Thanks mom. It means a lot to me for you to say that.” Peter replied as tears started to form in his eyes. “I love you, Peter.” “I love you, too, mom.” “I’ll see you soon. Take care of yourself, okay?” “I will. And mom?” “Yes, son?” “Please take care of Drew for me.” “I will.” And with that, Noelene Baker walked out of the room but not before pausing to have a final look at her son. And the last look that she saw was him smiling. His sign that everything would be alright. As soon as she was out of the interview room and out of the station, Noelene Baker went straight to the arms of her youngest son and wept. Preview: Reactions from the townspeople. How would they react? How would they treat the family? What do Clare, Jack and the rest of the crew do in order to save Peter? Is Peter truly innocent? Is he being framed? Enjoy!
