All the while whilst Drew was explaining to Clare about what a great dad Peter was, her heart was slowly tearing into pieces. She was close to tears when Drew suddenly asked her,

“Did you get the paternity results back?”

Aww Drew, dont ask about that

What do you think is going to happen?

Will she tell him and all hell will break loose? OR will she lie to him and when he finds out, wait for all hell to break loose later on?

Will she tell Peter? How will Peter react? Will she tell Evan? How will Evan react?

Next chapter:

It pained Clare to see the family members of the man she loved suffer. She didn’t know where to start. It was more like she had no idea at all where to start. A part of her felt that she was partly to blame for this. If she had not hurt him in the way that she did, none of this would’ve happened. She walked out of the office and told the officer at the desk that she had stepped out for some fresh air. She went over to Irene’s place and picked up Lilly and headed for the beach. It was there that she met Drew.

Drew was sitting on the beach staring and listening to the waves as they hit the shore. He was lost in his thoughts that he didn’t see or hear Clare walking towards him. It was only when she came sat next to him that he realized he was no longer alone. He turned to look at who it was that had rudely invited themselves next to him and was about to tell them to sod off when he saw Clare and Lilly. His expression softened and he smiled.

“Don’t mind if we joined you for a bit?”

“No, not at all. I’m not doing anything important anyway. Just wasting my time staring into space.”

“It’s a free country so you can do whatever you like. And, given the circumstances, I don’t think anyone would fault you for doing just that.” Clare smiled at him. “You want to hold her?”

“Thanks. Really?”

“Go for it. If she’ll put a smile on your face then I don’t mind at all.”

“Thanks, Clare.”

She nodded to say that he was welcome and they sat there silently staring out into the ocean. However, there was something egging Clare and she had to ask.

“Drew, I was wondering, could I ask you a question?” she asked cautiously.

“Yeah, sure. Go for it” he answered as he made a funny face that made Lilly laugh.

“It’s about Peter.”

“What about dad?”

“I want to help him but I need to know some things.”

“What kind of things?”

“I need you to tell me about his behaviour from the moment he came back from Witness Protection.”

“He was acting really weird. He even got together with Amanda even though he warned me of just how selfish she was. But, then I found out it was because of the painkiller addiction that made him like that. I was so angry at first when they got together. I didn’t realize that it was because of those drugs. I thought that dad was going to put me first. Like the time when he saved me from Dennis. It made me feel loved. And then, I found out that he wanted to beat the addiction to be a good dad to me, it just made me love him even more. That’s when I realized just how great a dad he is. That he was not only willing to sacrifice himself for me but he was willing to do what it took to be a good dad. My only regret was not giving him the chance. And now, I’ll never will.”

All the while whilst Drew was explaining to Clare about what a great dad Peter was, her heart was slowly tearing into pieces. She was close to tears when Drew suddenly asked her,

“Did you get the paternity results back?”

“No. not yet.”

“Oh okay. Look at me. I was supposed to tell you about dad and here I am rambling.” Drew said sheepishly.

“No, it’s okay.”

“To be honest, I really can’t tell when dad started acting all weird. I guess it was when he went back to work and then got suspended. That was when he started. And then seeing him argue with that guy on the bike and then seeing him at his memorial plaque. He slept there the whole night, Clare. Because Dan and him were arguing. He accused Dan and you of sleeping together. But, that was because Dan found out that he had kissed Leah. Maybe you should try talking to Sally, Leah, Dan, and Jack. They might be able to help you.”

“Oh. I see. Thank you very much, Drew. Looks like I’m going to have to speak to about this. I best get going, don’t you think?”

“You’re welcome. Please, Clare, help him.”

“I will. You have my word.”

“Here, I think you might want to take Lilly with you.”

“I was wondering if maybe you could babysit her for me whilst I go and see some people.”

“Yeah, sure. I’d love too.”

“Great, I’ll come pick her up from your place later. Thank you.”

“No problem at all.”

And with that, Clare Brody left Lilly in the capable hands of young Andrew Curtis. The young boy who she had hoped would be Lilly’s big brother. And whose father she wanted as her baby’s father and for herself, a lover. But that was not going to be the case now.

Drew sat with Lilly and showed her all the lovely views of the beach. He then decided to take her on a scenic tour of the town. Little did he know that he should’ve just stayed at the beach. As he carried her around the Bay, he decided to get a drink and something for her as he wasn’t sure if she had already been fed. So, he headed towards the Diner. It was there that he got the rudest awakening ever.

It was s though the whole town had somehow organized a town meeting that his family didn’t know of. He had never heard such differing points of view from people whom he had thought were his friends. As well as friends of his father’s. all he heard were:

“What kind of a nutter goes and does things like that?”

“He’s supposed to be a respected cop. I mean, he’s a detective. Thinks he can get away with murder.”

“They should lock him in prison and throw away the key.”

“An eye for an eye. He should be given the same punishment for killing Tracey Thompson.”

“Luckily you’re no longer going out with Drew, Belle. Who knows what would’ve happened to you.”

At the mention of his name, Drew walked into the Diner. As soon as Drew entered, there was silent. They were either ashamed for being caught talking about him and his father or were snubbing him because he was Peter’s son.

“Oh, don’t mind me at all. I’m just here to buy Lilly and me something and then I’m going to go. Please, do continue where you left off. Don’t stop on my behalf” he sarcastically replied.

“Drew, we didn’t meant it-“ Belle tried to explain but was interrupted by Drew’s violent outburst.

“I can’t believe you’re all just sitting here and talking about dad like this! After everything that he has done for all of you? He sacrificed his life for you! He saved you all from danger! I mean, he saved you from Zoë for crying out loud! He sacrificed his life for you and this is the way you treat him! Now I know! you’re all just a bunch of small town losers! Turn coats! When you need help, suddenly dad’s a friend. When he’s in trouble, and being framed for murder, you say all these things about him!” he spat out in disgust.

“You can forget about the drinks! I’ll take my business elsewhere!” and with that, he stormed out of the Diner with Lilly. He had never been so angry before. The last time it had happened, it was because of his father not wanting to fight harder for him. The dragon that he had kept leashed inside of him had somehow found an escape route. He had unleashed the dragon at the townspeople and there was no way he could keep it back in. not anymore. He was angry. Angry at himself for not being able to do something to help his dad. Frustrated that Peter will not tell him what’s wrong. A part of him wanted to beat it out of his dad but he couldn’t. He knew that Peter didn’t like to be pushed for information. He knew that if it was important, Peter would’ve told the cops.

As he walked further and further away from the Diner, he looked down at Lilly. She was looking at him with wide eyes and smiling at him. He smiled back at her. She was too adorable and she, for some reason or another, calmed him down. He didn’t feel angry anymore. A part of him really wished that Peter was her father and he was her step-brother. He had fallen in love with her the first time he laid eyes on her. She was, after all, a baby. And somehow, babies had that effect on people. He decided to go back home and see if Leah had anything.

Meanwhile, Clare went around town asking people about Peter’s behaviour. She had never felt this low since she found out that she was pregnant. Yet, she would not give up. She had promised him and she was going to keep to that promise. She found out from Jack, Martha, Sally, Dan, and Leah the same thing that Drew had told her on the beach: that Peter had been addicted to painkillers when he got back, he started acting weird after he came back with Clare from the airport. That was when it hit Clare that she was responsible for his recent erratic behaviour. She had told him about the possibility that he was not Lilly’s father and that had driven him to the brink of destruction. She was to blame for all of this. This made her even more determined to help Peter.

Noelene, meanwhile, had sat back and had slowly taken the news in. it was hard for her to bear. She knew her son was not responsible. But, everyone had confirmed that he was not the same young man that he had been before Zoë came along. It broke her heart to see her family fall apart like that but she was all the more determined to not give up on her son. He was innocent. And she was going to try. How, she had no idea. All she knew was that she had to do something.

Preview: Peter receives a visitor. Would Clare tell Peter the truth about the paternity test? If she does, how would he react? How would Drew react? And what surprise do 2 people of the Bay receive?

Claire walked over to Drew and Jack.

“Have you seen dad?”

“Yeah, I think you better come in my office.”

Drew and Claire both entered the office and Drew sat down waiting for her to speak.

“I went to see Pete today and I told him something that he didn’t take too well.”

“What was it?” Drew asked

Drew was confused. His dad had been arrested for murder now his grandmother had just been murdered. He just didn’t know what to think. Or how to feel. He lifted his head up from Claire’s arms and he wiped his tears away.

They arrived at Sally’s place in less than ten minutes. This was mainly because Clare was speeding like the devil was after her tail. Jack practically had to hang on for his life and they nearly missed hitting pedestrians.

“Slow down, Clare!”
