Well, I have to keep my end of the bargain now since you updated BTS :P

Next chapter:

Dan looked up at Claire as she stood silent just before saying,

“I’m so sorry but it looks like she was murdered.”

Everyone gasped as they just looked on in shock. Just as Claire was about to speak she heard Dan say,

“Dad?!”

Kevin slowly entered the room as Dan raced over to him, hugging him in comfort. Drew got up and walked out of the house with Claire followed suit.

“Drew, wait!” Claire shouted as she chased after him.

Drew finally stopped as he turned round looking at Claire,

“She’s gone,” and he began to cry in her arms.

Drew was confused. His dad had been arrested for murder now his grandmother had just been murdered. He just didn’t know what to think. Or how to feel. He lifted his head up from Claire’s arms and he wiped his tears away.

“Who’s going to tell dad?”

They both arrived back at the Patterson house as Drew walked over to Dan and Kevin who were sitting in state of shock.

“Who is going to tell dad? He has a right to know.” Drew asked.

Claire and Leah just looked at one another as Dan said,

“I will.”

Dan stood up, and he was about to go to the station with Claire when he heard his dad mutter,

“Yes, he deserves to know. It was his fault.”

Dan turned to his father in shock as he said,

“What the hell do you mean by that?”

Kevin looked at Dan as he replied,

“Well, first she gets threatening letters about Pete; then she is murdered. Put the pieces together. Your brother has caused the death of the woman I love.”

Dan didn’t know what to say. But, he knew that the only thing he wanted to do was to tell Peter about his mum. Drew looked at his granddad in disgust and he followed Dan and Claire to the station.

As the three of them drove to the station, Dan couldn’t think straight. He was shocked by what his dad had just said. ‘How the hell is Pete going to take the news?’ he thought to himself.

All three of them took deep breaths as they entered the station; Lara had already taken Pete into the interview when Claire rang her when they were on their way. Dan looked at the interview room door, the room that his brother was sitting in. He prepared himself for Pete’s worse possible reaction ever. After all, Peter had only just cleared the air with his mum and when he finds out she is dead… Dan just didn’t know how he would react.

Dan braced himself, taking a deep breath as he slowly entered the interview room. Pete’s face lit up as soon as he saw Dan entered the room.

“Dan?!” Pete said happily as he hugged his brother.

Dan stayed quiet as he sat in front of Pete.

“How’s Drew? Is he ok? You’d better be looking after him.” Pete said trying to sound positive.

“He’s ok.”

“How are you and Leah?”

“Yeah, mate, we are ok.”

“Mum? Is she still nagging at you? or moaning?” Peter laughed.

“Pete, mum’s been killed.” Dan said waiting for Pete’s reaction.

“Has Claire been keeping you updated with my case?”

Dan couldn’t believe that Pete didn’t hear him.

“Have you heard from…. She’s dead?” Pete said stopping half way through his sentence realizing what Dan had just told him.

Meanwhile, Claire and Jack were sitting in her office discussing about recent developments in the case.

“Do you think he will be ok?”

“Jack, I know Pete. And as long as he has us and his family around, he will be just fine.”

Before Jack could answer, however, they heard a loud banging noise. They raced out of the office only to hear things being thrown around inside the interview room. Jack raced in to the room and he saw Dan trying to calm Peter down. He was going mad.

Jack managed to drag Peter away but he managed to get away from him. As he struggled, he saw Claire by the door. He immediately ran over to her and cried in her arms. Whilst he cried in her arms Jack and Dan just stood watching. Drew was standing by Claire’s office when he gave his dad a warm smile. Pete leant his head back on Claire’s shoulder.

Pete pulled away from Claire when he heard Lara say,

“Evan.”

Claire looked over at Evan then back at Pete. He just stood and looked at her before saying,

“You better tell him.”

Jack escorted Pete back to his cell as Claire pulled Evan into her office.

“What’s going on? Why is Pete here?”

“He has been arrested for murder.”

“What? Who’s murder?”

“Tracey’s.”

Rice looked confused as Claire said,

“I have the paternity results back.”

“It’s Baker’s, isn’t it?”

“No. It’s yours Evan.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“That’s great!” Evan said happily.

“Ok.” Claire said.

“I have got to go and talk to McGrath. But, I will be back soon.” Evan said smiling at Claire.

Claire was upset that Peter was not the father after all. She didn’t love Rice. Peter was the one she loved and always will. Jack entered the room to talk to Claire.

“He is back in his cell. Dan and Drew have gone home. I don’t know how Pete is going to cope.” Jack said.

“He will be ok.” replied a positive Claire.

As Claire was about to drink her tea she received a phone call from Sally.

“Hey Sal, how’s Lilly?”

“What? No! She can’t have!” Claire replied in a state of shock.

She immediately dropped the phone and jumped put of her seat and grabbed her coat.

“What’s wrong?” Jack asked all confused.

“Lilly has gone!”

They both raced out the station and headed towards the caravan park.

ZOMG Who took Lilly!? :o

That's something you'll have to read on to find out.

Someone murder Evan Rice before I do <_<

Oh trust me, you're not the only one wanting to murder him. I want to do so too. But, can't

Thanks for my man being in the update  Much appericated, Update please! :D

Your welcome but you should thank Lil. She wrote it. And, Kevin Baker is such a prick.

Next update should be.... soonish.... Who knows...

But, for now, a teaser:

“I’m going to do my job! I’m going to hunt down those people who kidnapped my daughter, and I’m going to make them pay! Since you say I don’t do anything much! At least then you’ll know which one of us is much more worried about their daughter’s safety. Clare or me. You can sit in that office all day if you want, Clare, but it’s not going to work! You’re not going to be able to do anything! At least, I’m showing the initiative in going out to look for our daughter!”

^ Thanks.

Next chapter:

They arrived at Sally’s place in less than ten minutes. This was mainly because Clare was speeding like the devil was after her tail. Jack practically had to hang on for his life and they nearly missed hitting pedestrians.

“Slow down, Clare!”

“How can I?”

“Look, I think that it might work for Lilly if her mother isn’t dead!”

“She’s missing, Jack! I need to find her!”

“Like I said, it wouldn’t do anyone any good if you’re dead or in hospital. At least think about that before you get us both killed!”

And with that, Clare Brody finally did slow down and Jack Holden let out a breath of relief. He knew that Clare was worried but they could do nothing until they found out what was happening. As soon as she reached the caravan park, she turned the engine off and ran straight into the house. There, she found Sal with Brad and Alf Stewart, all looking grim.

“What happened?!” she demanded.

“I took Lilly with me to the beach and on the way, I bumped into Brad and we got talking about things. Then, all of a sudden I heard screeching tires and before I knew it, a car was heading straight for us and we jumped out of the way to avoid it. I remember seeing Brad grabbing Lilly’s pram. That’s all I knew because I tripped and fell onto the ground.” Sally looked at Brad, waiting for him to continue.

He saw the signal and spoke,

“I remember pushing Sal to the ground and then grabbing the pram to push Lilly to safety. But, the moron who was driving the car opened the door and hit me in the head with something. I was on the ground but before I blacked out, I saw that person taking Lilly and then the car driving off. When I woke up, I saw Sal and Mr. Stewart staring in my face.”

“Did any of you managed to get a good look at the car or the driver?” Jack asked. He knew that with Clare in a state of shock, it was up to him to be in charge of the investigation.

“Sorry, no. I was panicking because it was coming towards us” Brad said whilst Sally nodded in agreement.

“It’s okay, guys. The brain tends to freeze up in situations like these.” Jack offered graciously.

“How can it be okay? My daughter has been kidnapped, and you think it’s okay for you not to have taken note of the kidnappers? I left her in your care, Sal! Because I knew you were responsible! Instead, you were too busy talking to him to notice what was going on! This is your entire fault! If anything happens to her, you’ll pay for it!” Clare lashed out in anger.

“Clare, these things do happen. You’re a cop. How many times have you said the same thing to other families?”

“Well, it doesn’t happen to me! It happens to people who are irresponsible! Irresponsible parents who shouldn’t have children!” Clare spat.

Jack could see that Clare was very close to losing it that he told her to wait in the car for him.

“No! I’m not going!”

“Clare, you’re obviously distraught. Just go to the car and wait. I need to conduct the investigation. You’re not going to be much help and you’ll just be slowing us down!”

In response to that, Clare just glared at him and walked off.

“Hmmph!”

“Sorry about that guys. She’s been under a lot of stress lately. What with Peter being framed, Noelene being murdered and now Lilly being kidnapped.”

“It’s understandable.” Alf said.

“I would feel the same way if I was her.” Brad answered.

“Do you think that all the recent events that are happening in the Bay could be linked?” sally asked.

“I don’t know. There’s a possibility that it might. I hope that Lilly being kidnapped has nothing to do with it.”

“I sincerely hope you find her, Jack.” Brad said.

“I hope so too. For everyone’s sake…. Anyway, thanks for your co-operation. I’ve got to get back to the station now. And make sure Clare is alright.”

And with that, Jack Holden walked out to face his boss.

“Clare?”

Clare had walked out in a huff and had been sitting on the bonnet of the car thinking. She tried not to imagine the worse but it was to no avail. A part of her was starting to break. First, the man she loved was in jail for a murder that he had not committed. Then, she finds out that the father of her child was not the man that she wanted it to be. Soon after that, she finds out that the mother of the man she loved had been murdered. And now, her daughter had been kidnapped. A part of her started to suspect that there was a possibility that all these events could be linked but she could not pinpoint as to where. A part of her started to blame herself for it. ‘If I hadn’t done what I did in the first place, then, none of this would’ve happened. It’s my entire fault. I ruined Peter’s life and now I’m going to ruin my baby’s life!’ she thought to herself. It was then that she heard someone calling her name.

“Clare?”

She looked up and saw Jack looking at her. She felt ashamed over what happened. She knew that it was wrong of her to have yelled at Sally and Brad but she couldn’t stop herself. In all honesty, she was blaming herself and she didn’t know what to do.

“Yeah?”

“How’re you holding up?”

“I’m hanging in there. How’re they?”

“They’re okay. Still in a bit of shock but they’re more worried about you more than anything.”

“I’m really sorry, Jack. I just lost it in there. I need to apologize.”

“It’s okay. They understand. Let’s just go back to the station, okay?”

“Okay.”

“Clare?”

“Yeah?”

“This time, I get to drive.”

“Okay.”

They swapped sides and sat in companiable silence as Jack took a slow drive back to the station.

Preview: Who kidnapped baby Lilly? Is there a possibility that all the recent events are linked together? Will Kevin Baker be able to forgive his son for the death of his wife? Will Peter be driven nuts being in jail and unable to do anything as he watches the lives of the people he love crumble before him?

Next chapter:

Back at the station, Jack filled Lara and Evan in about what had happened. Both Lara and Jack had never seen Evan Rice this angry before. He rushed into Clare’s office to comfort her but she pushed him away. He vowed that he would not rest until he found the perpetrators who had kidnapped his daughter. And with that, he stormed out of her office and out of the station leaving Lara and Jack with shocked expressions on their faces.

Lara looked at Jack and said,

“Maybe you should get her to go home. There’s nothing she can do here right now. Not when she’s feeling like this.”

“I tried but it didn’t work. She’s just as stubborn as Peter.”

“Maybe I should give it a try?”

“She might just listen to you, Fitzy.”

‘KNOCK KNOCK’

Lara poked her head into Clare’s office and asked,

“Can I come in?”

“Yeah, sure.”

“How are you feeling now?”

“Still the same.”

“Maybe you should go home and try and get some rest. Jack and I will let you know as soon as possible if we get anything.”

“How can I? If I go home, I’m reminded of the fact that my baby is missing. And I’m reminded by the fact that it’s my fault that she is.”

“Hey, it’s not your fault. You couldn’t have seen this coming. No one could. You’ve been stressed out this whole week. Go home and get some rest. You’ll feel much better later on.”

“I just can’t, Lara. Thank you for trying.”

“Well, if that’s the case, then you leave me no choice but to ring Superintendent Murphy and tell him.”

The response that Lara got out of Clare was a slight chuckle.

“That’s blackmail, you know!”

“If it makes you go home, then yes.”

“Oh, alright. I’ll go.”

She picked up her things and headed out of the office with Lara following suit. She headed straight for the exit but not before turning back to say,

“Thank you both very much for your support in everything. Remember, if you get any information, I want to know immediately.”

“You have our word. Bye!”

“Bye.”

As soon as Clare walked out of the station, Lara turned to him and said,

“Do you think she’ll be alright?”

“She’s strong, right?”

“Yeah, she is. But, with everything’s that happened….”

“She’ll get through it. Besides, we’re helping her, anyway.”

“That’s true.”

“I wonder where Evan got up to?”

“Beats me.”

“Let’s just hope he’s fine, as well.”

“I’ll ring him later and find out. How did you manage to convince her to go home?”

“I told her if she didn’t, I’d ring Murphy.”

“Nice one, Fitzy. Looks like it’s back to work for us now.”

“You might want to call your wife and let her know you’ll be late.”

“Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me.”

Lara watched as Jack raced off to ring Martha and just laughed.

Meanwhile, back at the flat that she shared with Brad, Clare was restless. She couldn’t sleep. Every time she closed her eyes, she could see images of Peter and Lilly running through her mind. She decided to go for a walk to clear her head. She walked downstairs and as soon as she did, there was silence. She knew that the whole town knew about the kidnapping. ‘It was a small town, after all,’ she thought to herself. She put on a brave face and smiled and nodded at familiar faces and walked out of the Diner as quickly as she could. She was in such a hurry that she didn’t realize that she had bumped into Drew.

“Drew!”

“Clare!”

“How are you? How’s the family holding up?”

“I’m doing okay. Everyone’s okay, I guess. Although, Dan and grandpa aren’t on speaking terms. What about you?”

“Me?”

“Yeah. I heard about what happened to Lilly. I’m really sorry, Clare.”

“Thanks, I guess.”

“Are you okay?”

“I’m getting there. Anyway, I don’t want to stop you so I’m just going to go. I’ll see you around, Drew.”

“Yeah. Take care of yourself, Clare.”

He saw her walk away as fast as she could and he felt sorry for her. She didn’t deserve this to happen to her. Neither did Lilly. Sure, a part of him was angry over the fact that she had hurt his dad, but he could never hate her. he resolved that he would keep an eye out for her just incase anything happened. He was, after all, his father’s son. And he knew about the history between his father and Clare. He knew that Clare cared for Peter and that Peter cared for her. And, since his father was in jail, he was going to look after her. It was the least he could do.

When Clare saw Drew, she wanted to get out of his sight that very instant. She had never felt so pressurized in her life until today. She couldn’t bear to look him in they eye as they spoke. And she couldn’t bear it when he was being nice to her. She knew that when he found out the truth about the paternity test, he would hate her. Just like his father did. The moment she made her excuse and they went their separate ways; she finally let out the breath that she had been holding since seeing all the people looking at her in the diner. She walked on and finally reached the beach.

Once there, she walked along the shorelines, enjoying the breeze and the waves caressing her feet as she walked. Somehow, being at the beach made Clare feel much better. It made her feel relaxed. As though nothing could touch her. Nothing could harm her when she was here. And nothing could harm the people that she loved whilst she was here. Alas, it was not to be so. Reality soon came back to haunt her. She couldn’t escape from it. All the guilt she had been feeling was slowly starting to consume her. She felt like crying but it dawned on her that what she had been doing these past few days was cry. Everywhere she went, she would be around people who were grieving or crying over life worth not living. So, she stopped herself. She had made a promise that she would be strong. And that was what she was going to do. She finally came upon some rocks and rested there. The sound of the waves pounding the rocks drowned out her sorrow. It was there that Drew found her, lost in her thoughts.

Drew came out of the diner after getting a drink and saw Clare walking on the beach. He didn’t know if he should go and talk to her but he still walked towards the beach anyway. It was as though his feet were dragging him against his will and before he knew it, he was following her. When he realized where she was going, he stopped and decided to stay put to respect her privacy. Yet, a part of him could not leave her alone. That was one of his problems. He cared too much. And he liked Clare. He wasn’t in love with her in the way that he was with Amanda. From the first moment that he had met her, it was as though he knew that they would get along well. That they were meant to get along well. He knew that she cared a lot for Peter. In fact, a part of him suspected that she cared way too much for Peter. And, anyone who cared for his dad deserved his utmost respect and protection. There was something about the Baker boys when it came to protecting the people that they loved or cared about. And, Drew cared for Clare and Lilly, who had stolen his heart the moment he laid eyes on her. And the thought that she could die, shook him to the very core.

Thus, he walked slowly up to where Clare was and waited until she turned to acknowledge his presence. He didn’t know how long he stood there for but he gave up on staying silent so he decided to announce his presence, hoping that whatever it was that was occupying her mind would pause for a while so that he could be asked to sit down. He cleared his throat and waited for a response. Nothing. He cleared it again, this time louder. Still nothing. In the end, he decided to call out her name and see where it got him. He didn’t want to approach her as he was afraid he would startle her and seeing as that where they were was quite dangerous he decided the safer route.

“Clare?”

Clare was brought out of her reverie when she heard someone call out her name. she turned towards the direction of where that sound came from and to her surprise saw Drew Curtis standing before her, looking sheepish.

“Drew.”

“Uhm, I didn’t mean to disturb you but I just couldn’t help but notice that maybe you might like some company. If you don’t, I can just go. After all, I have no right to invade your privacy…” he rattled on, sounding very stupid in the process.

This earned him a smile from her and she said,

“It’s fine. I’d like the company. At least maybe it can help distract me from everything.”

She patted the ground next to her and beckoned him to sit and he did just that.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”

“Yeah, it is.”

“I love the beach. There’s something about it that has this calming effect on you. Somehow, it never fails to cheer you up no matter how you’re feeling.”

Drew remained silent so she continued.

“When I was young, I loved the beach very much. I used to spend a lot of time there whenever we go on holidays. See, I lived in the City so any chance of going to the beach was like heaven. Most kids my age would ask for all sorts of gifts for their birthdays but I’d always ask my parents to take me to the beach for my birthday. As I grew older, I found that the beach can really be your best friend in situations. It’s a great place to think about things.”

Again, Drew was silent. In truth, he had no idea what to say so he let Clare talk.

“Whenever I needed to be me, whenever I needed time for myself, I would always come to the beach. And, if I was lucky, I would catch a glimpse of your father surfing. He really loved to surf.”

“He’s a great surfer.”

“Do you like to surf, Drew?”

“Yeah, I do.”

“You’re very much like Peter, you know? Has anyone ever told you that?”

“Yeah, everyone tells me that. They say I’m stubborn like him, too.”

This answer earned a laugh from Clare. And this made Drew smile. He was glad that he could cheer her up. After all, she had been there for him through everything that had happened. And this was the least that he could do for her.

“They’ll find her, you know?”

“Yeah, I know.”

“You’re a good mother, Clare. Remember that. Don’t go blaming yourself for something that was beyond your control.”

“You’re too kind, Drew. But, thank you. And you’re a really good son. Peter’s very lucky to have a son like you, you know?”

“I’m sure he’ll be just as lucky to have a daughter like Lilly… Er, not that I was implying that dad is the father.”

That last response made Clare silent. She knew that she had to tell him the truth. And she prepared herself for it. She took a deep breath and said,

“Drew, there’s something I need to tell you.”

“What about?” he asked curiously

.

“It has to do with the paternity test results.”

“You got it back?”

“Yes, I did.”

“Does dad know about it?”

“Yeah, he does.”

“Oh…. So, he’s the father, right?” Drew asked with a sparkle of excitement in his eye and a slight smile gracing his face.

Clare took a deep breath and said,

“No, he isn’t.”

Preview: How does Drew react to the news that Peter is not Lilly’s father and not his step-sister? Will it be the end of the good relationship between Clare and the members of the Baker family with the news? What discovery does someone make that shocks them?

I love how close Clare and Drew are, its the "warm and fuzzy" kind :P

Eventhough Lilly isnt Drews stepsister, she is still...kinda.. well to Drew

Please dont let Drew go bananas!
