Traceve Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 *waits patiently for an update* Come-on Lil and Chrissie!
Lilone Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Heres the next update “What?!” Drew had never been this shocked and disgusted at the same time in his entire life. The last time he had been this way was when he found out that Peter was alive and that he had started a relationship with Amanda. The thought of Clare and Evan together made him sick. He didn’t know who he hated more at this moment- Clare or Evan. If Evan was here, he would’ve hit him hard in the head. He didn’t care if he killed him. “How could you?” he spat in anger. “What did dad do to deserve this?” “Drew, please.” Clare knew this was the reaction that she was going to get. After all, she had only just commented just how alike both Peter and Drew were. And, judging from Peter’s first reaction to it, she was not at all surprised at Drew’s reaction. But, a part of her felt bad. She didn’t want Drew to hate her. “I wanted it to be Peter so badly, Drew. Please, believe me. When I saw how good you were with Lilly, I prayed so hard that Lilly was Pete’s.” “You disgust me! Dad loved you! He loved you so much! He wanted to protect you! And you go and do this to him! How can you live with yourself? He risked his life to protect you from Zoë! And this is how you repay him? You know, he told me not to hate you if he wasn’t the father! That was how forgiving dad was! How could you, Clare? After everything that he’s done for you! How can you treat our family like that? You’re just as bad as Amanda Vale!” he lashed out in anger. All the while, Clare was shaking in fear. She was scared that he was going to do something. Yet, she knew that she deserved it. She deserved to be yelled at for what she did. “Drew, you have every right to be angry at me. But, please, I shouldn’t be put into the same category as Amanda Vale. I know I hurt your dad and I hurt you. I wished that I could turn back the clock and change things, but I can’t. If I could, I would, believe me. I deserved to be yelled at for everything that I did. If there was one thing I regret the most, it was in breaking up with your father.” Clare said as the tears that she had been holding in the whole day began to fall down her cheeks and onto the ground, making a small puddle. He saw the tears and went weak. There was something about the Baker men when they saw people in tears; in particular women in tears. He wanted to hug her, to comfort her. But he couldn’t. He was so angry. Angry at her for lying; angry at Evan; angry at Peter, and angry at himself. He didn’t know how much longer he could stand to be in her presence so he just got up and ran away. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him. He reached home only to find his uncle and grandfather at each other’s throats once again. “Shut up! Shut up!” he screamed. “Look at yourselves!” he yelled as he headed into his room and slammed the door shut, leaving a very stunned Dan and an equally stunned Kevin Baker staring at the space that he had just occupied. “What was that all about?” Kevin asked. “Beats me.” Dan replied. Unbeknownst to them, they both had a very stupid look on their faces at that very moment. Flashback: From the moment Kevin had uttered those words, Dan had never felt so disgusted at his father. Sure, his mother was dead but blaming Peter for it was just incredulous. Dan was angry at his father. ‘What kind of father would blame his son for the death of his own mother, his father’s wife?’ Dan thought to himself. He never thought he would see the day that his father would say that. It made him feel ashamed to have a father like that. And ever since then, the tension between father and son was so thin that you could cut it with a knife. Dan made sure that Peter didn’t know about this as he didn’t want Peter feeling as miserable as he already was. Kevin Baker was distraught. He didn’t care if his son was in jail. He didn’t care that his son was being framed. All he cared about was the fact that the woman he loved was dead. And she had died as a result of that son that was in jail and who was being framed for murder. Everything was Peter’s fault. If he had not joined the force in the first place, then none of this would’ve happened. He would still have his wife with him now and they would be growing old together and spending time with their grandchildren. Instead, he was left to live out the rest of his life on his own. All because of his eldest son. He could never hate him. No, Kevin Baker could never hate anyone, not even his own son. But, he could blame his son for it. In part, Kevin felt bad that he had not come with Noelene. If he had, none of this would’ve happened. Yet, he was too distraught to realize that. Blaming Peter for it only served to make him feel better. Although, he didn’t realize that it would cause some tension between him and the rest of the family, in particular from his youngest son and his grandson. Ever since Dan got back from seeing Peter, not a day went by that him and Kevin weren’t arguing. They couldn’t even bear to be in the same room with each other. If they weren’t arguing, they would be sitting watching the TV or reading, both trying their best to ignore the other. Leah had pointed out their childish behaviour but both refused to budge. Each blamed the other. Each wouldn’t apologize until the other did. Thus, Leah gave up and let them be. She knew that eventually, they’d realize how childish they had been acting. She knew that they were grieving but instead of grieving as a family, they were all wallowing in self pity. Jack walked into the station and he starts to wonder about Claire’s involvement in the case. He knew that Claire would do anything to free Peter, but, now that Lilly has gone missing would she start to lose control and jeopardize the case? Jack wanted to see if Peter was coping okay, so he decided to go and check on him. As Jack opened the window of the cell door, he saw a man that just lay before him, confused, worried, and losing his mind. It sickened Jack inside to see his best friend falling apart right in front of him. The bit that hurt most was that he truly believed that Peter was innocent but he cannot change the big pile of evidence that is stacked up against him. Drew was lying on his bed thinking about his conversation with Claire. The more he thought about it, the more the anger started to build up inside. He couldn’t that believe Lilly was not his dad’s daughter. After everything that had happened, he knew that Pete not being Lilly’s father would just bring him down even more. Drew sat up on his bed as he began to look at a photo of him and Peter. Dan walked out of his bedroom and just as he was walking into the kitchen to grab a drink, he saw Kevin sitting in silence reading a book. “Where’s Drew?” “I don’t know!” Kevin snapped at Dan. “I can’t do this any more dad!” Dan replied. Kevin looked up as he said, “Do what?” “You! Being here!” “If it wasn’t for your brother I wouldn’t be here! Your mother and I would be peacefully sitting by the fire at home! But, because of your brother’s antics, that’s not going to happen!” “How many times do I have to say this? It was not Pete’s fault!” Dan yelled at his father as he walked up to him. “You have never loved Pete, have you dad? Well?” Dan said, as his dad just remained silent. “Don’t turn this round on me!” Kevin spat at Dan. “No, dad. I have had enough of this crap! Your oldest son is lying in a prison cell facing a murder charge, and you’re just sitting here, sulking like a kid who has just been refused candy and blaming him!” Dan yelled at Kevin. “You aren’t exactly a saint are you? Your mother told me how you were doubting his innocence!” Dan grabbed Kevin’s top as he angrily said, “You don’t deserve to have us as your kids! And you’re pathetic!” Dan let go as he heard a knock at the front door. Drew walked from his room having heard everything that was just said between Kevin and Dan. “Claire, Jack.” Dan said as he let them in the door. Drew remained silent as he waited for them to speak. “I didn’t think you would be working with Lilly still missing.” “Lilly will be back soon, but I’m here to tell you that Pete has asked to see you, Dan. He said it’s important.” Dan looked over at his dad; he eventually said, “Yes, I will see him.” Just as Jack and Claire turned to leave Drew said, “Oh, I thought you were here to tell everyone about Evan being Lilly’s father?” Dan looked at Claire in shock, “You didn’t think to tell us?” “Yeah, well, Dan she’s not that honest is she?” Claire glared at Drew before she yelled, “I have had no sleep for the past few days! My daughter is missing, my ex fiancé is in prison facing a murder charge! The last thing I had on my mind was to tell everyone that Lilly’s father is not Peter, but Evan flaming Rice!” Everyone just watched as Claire raced out of the house leaving Jack to say, “I’m sorry, but there has been no progress about Peter.” Jack raced after an upset Claire who was crying as she ran down towards the beach. He eventually caught up with her and he put his arms around her as she cried into his shoulder. “Am I ever going to see Lilly again?” Jack lifted Claire’s head up as he smiled saying, “We will find her.” “I think we should head back to the station and see if they have any more news.” Claire agreed as Jack helped her up they walked back to the station. They both arrived at the station. Claire was feeling slightly more positive about finding Lilly, which was down to Jack. All the way to the station he gave her positive thoughts, telling her everything will be ok. As they set foot into the station, Evan came rushing towards Claire. “Claire?!” “What?” “Is it true?” “What’s true?” Clare asked Evan as she had no idea what he was on about. It didn’t occur to her that he was asking her about Lilly. “Lilly. Is it true that she’s missing? That she’s been kidnapped?” Only then did realization dawn on Clare as to what Evan was on about. ”Yes, it’s true.” “How did it happen?” “Mate, didn’t you read the report?” “Shut up, Jack! No one asked you. I’m speaking to the mother of my child. This has nothing to do with you!” “Yes it has! While you were out gallivanting about town, I was here, trying to make sure that the mother of your child is coping well over this!” “Guys, that’s enough! Evan, she was kidnapped whilst Sally took her out on a walk.” “Why wasn’t she careful? It’s a child, for crying out loud!” “She was very careful. A car was speeding their way and they had to jump aside or else all three of them would’ve been dead.” “All three?” “Sally, Brad, and Lilly. It was Brad who pushed everyone to safety. He was knocked in the head by the idiot who kidnapped Lilly.” “They should’ve been more vigilant! I’m going to go knock more sense into his head!” Rice spat and started to head out of the station. “It’s not their fault!” “Like hell it is! They were responsible for the safety and well being of our daughter! And, clearly, if they were busy doing their jobs properly instead of flirting, then none of this would’ve happened! Lilly would be alive now!” he lashed out in anger. “I told you, it’s not their fault! They did everything they could. Someone’s messing with us, okay?” Clare yelled out, finally getting annoyed at Evan. She didn’t know what she was more annoyed at- him being the father or his unbelievable idiotic behaviour. “Mate, how did you know they were flirting?” Jack asked silently. “What?” “How did you know that Brad and Sally were flirting?” “Oh, come on! Everyone knows about Brad and Sally! They’ve been flirting with each other ever since God knows when! All you have to do is look at them and you can see the chemistry. Why do you want to know, Jack?” Evan eyed him suspiciously. “You don’t think I kidnapped my own daughter, did you?” “What? Why would I think that?” “Because you just implied that I did when you asked me about how I knew about Brad and Sally flirting! This is stupid. I am not going to sit here and let you take everything out on me! I’m going!” “Where are you going?” Clare asked. “I’m going to do my job! I’m going to hunt down those people who kidnapped my daughter, and I’m going to make them pay! Since you say I don’t do anything much! At least then you’ll know which one of us is much more worried about their daughter’s safety. Clare or me. You can sit in that office all day if you want, Clare, but it’s not going to work! You’re not going to be able to do anything! At least, I’m showing the initiative in going out to look for our daughter!” “Don’t you dare say that I’m not at all worried about Lilly, because I am! Regardless of what you think, Evan, I haven’t slept in two days now ever since she’s been kidnapped! And where were you? MIA! You want to start being the responsible father that you are, by all means, go ahead and try! If you think I haven’t already asked around, you must seriously think that I’m incompetent as a detective and as a mother!” “I’m not the one who slept with two guys! I’m not the one who lied about the truth of the baby’s father! You’re just angry that Peter Baker is not the father of your baby and that I am the father and so you’re taking it out on me!” “Yes I am!” Clare yelled back. He had provoked her until she could take it no more. “Well, guess, what, missy? You’re stuck with me!” And with that, he left a stunned and angry Clare Brody and Jack Holden as well as every cop on duty that day behind him at the station. Evan Rice would look for his daughter and he would find her. Then, Clare Brody would have no choice but to be indebted to him. Preview: Why does Peter want to see Dan? How does the family react to the news that Peter isn’t Lilly’s dad? Will Kevin and Dan ever see eye to eye again? Will Peter and Dan be able to forgive their father? Will Kevin be able to forgive his eldest son for the death of his wife? Will Evan find Lilly in time before anything happens to her? What does Drew find that shocks him to the very core?
ldscott Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Great chapter! Wonder if Evan has got something to do with the kidnapping?
Drew Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Oooooooo That was interesting... Maybe it's Rice doing all of this! Poor Claire, hasn't slept in two days hehe This is bugging me now because I can't figure out the kidnapper hehe! I wonder what Drew finds!? Update soon!
Traceve Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Dont kill Drew! .. Just..getting.. in early.. Now that you mention it, it could be Rice..
swfc Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 You'll just have to wait to find out the kidnapper and stuff. Although, about Drew... I have no idea what will happen to him.... I think it depends on who wrote that bit Thanks very much guys. How's about a teaser? “I’m sorry, Dan. I’m sorry for the way that I’ve been acting lately. I’m sorry for the way that I behaved that day, throwing all the furniture at your house and acting all mental at the station the other day. It was the day that Clare had told me that I wasn’t Lilly’s father. I guess, I just broke. I wanted so badly to be Lilly’s father and when I wasn’t, I couldn’t bear it anymore so I became enraged. Luckily I was taken back into my cell because, I wouldn’t know what would’ve happened.” Enjoy
