It's a holiday today and i am soooo bored. I sooooo need to get a life. Here's one just for fun...

ChapterFourtyFive:

Martha threw some clothes into her suitcase. They’d never had a proper honeymoon so naturally she was excited about the getaway with Jack.

“So where are you going?” Kim asked Jack in the kitchen.

“Oh just to the city,” said Jack. “But this is really important to Martha so I’m taking to her to flash motel… with a spa…”

“Oh so it’s one of THOSE kinds of trips.” Kim laughed.

“Mate, I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to it…” Jack smiled.

Martha walked out struggling with her suitcase.

“Hey,” Jack said rushing over to help her with it. “Gees, what did you pack? The whole wardrobe or something? It’s only a couple of days…”

“You’ll find out soon enough what I’ve packed…” she grinned. “Jack, do you think you can do the rest of the packing without me? I totally forgot to call Grandad so I thought I’d stop by the van park and say goodbye.”

“How much more packing do we need to do?” Jack laughed. “You’ve pretty much done enough for both of us!”

“Jack, just pack the rest of the necessities okay?” she kissed him on the cheek and quickly left.

Jack was totally bemused. He picked up a few shirts and some shorts from the washing basket and put them into his backpack. He looked over at Kim. “Well I’m packed…”

ChapterFourtySix:

Everyone at school was talking about Rocco and Matilda. As they walked down the hallway to class, people stared and whispered about them. Rocco held onto Matilda’s hand tightly as they passed Belle, Drew and Lucas.

“I always thought she had bad taste in guys…” Bell moaned.

Lucas flashed her a strange look. “Sorry?” he said. “Sometimes she does pick the nice guys?”

Drew was ignoring their conversation. “What does she see in the guy anyway?” he asked them.

Belle shook her head. “Who knows? And who cares anyway?”

Lucas looked on as Matilda and Rocco talked by their lockers. When Nina walked past him he quickly took her aside.

“Hey did you know about Maddie and Rocco?” he asked her.

She shrugged her shoulders. “Matilda said she liked him… I didn’t think they’d hook up that soon though.”

Lucas nodded as the bell rang. ‘Are you coming to class Nina?” he asked her.

“Yeah” she said looking through her bag. “I’ll be there in a sec…” As Lucas walked off, she pulled something out of her bag and put it in her locker.

Beth sat in the diner ready to tear her hair out. “You should have heard her Irene,” she moaned. “You know what, I bet Nina has had some influence in this situation. You heard her when she threatened me the other day.”

“Now, don’t go jumpin’ to conclusions Beth,” said Irene. “She’s just a kid with an attitude. Somehow I don’t think she’d hypnotise Maddie into falling head over heels for Rocco. Maybe you should just give the boy a chance?”

Beth shook her head. ‘I don’t think so, not with all that’s happened since he’s been here. All the robberies and what happened to poor Madge. Matilda’s been through enough…”

Sally and Brad walked into the diner smiling at each other. Irene greeted them as they sat down at one of the tables.

“You guys here for lunch?” she asked them.

“Yeah, we’ll just have the specials thanks Irene,” said Sally.

“Two specials comin right up darl” Irene smiled.

When Irene had gone into the kitchen Beth went and sat down at Sally and Brad’s table.

“Look I’m sorry to interrupt your lunch break Sal, but I really need to talk to you about something.”

“Sure, what is it?” asked Sally.

“It’s about Rocco,” Beth said slowly. “Now I know he’s staying with you, so perhaps you could have a word with him about his relationship with Matilda.”

Sally looked a little uneasy. “Beth, Rocco is staying with me, but I don’t think it’s my business to tell him what he can and can’t do in his personal life.”

“But Sally, the boy is dangerous…” Beth argued.

“I know Rocco’s had some troubles, but he is really trying to make a go of it here, and I would like to see him happy. Maybe Matilda will have a good influence on him?”

Beth sat back in disgust. “No, I’ve barred Matilda from seeing him.”

“Don’t you think you’re overreacting a little bit Beth?” Brad interjected.

“I’m sorry?” said Beth. “But you are the one that’s allowing these criminals into our schools…”

Brad rolled his eyes. “Like I told you, that sort of thing is up to the department. Kids like Rocco still deserve an education. The fact that he’s at school and taking an interest in learning is a really good step. I think you under estimate him.”

“Well what about kids like Nina?” Beth said furiously. “They go to school to pull guns on other students.”

Brad had almost had enough of Beth’s whining. “You don’t know Nina…” he snapped at her. “I’ve actually found her to be an incredibly bright and articulate student. She hasn’t caused any problems at all. From what I’ve noticed, she’s only aggro towards the people that have been aggro towards her… Whatever Nina may have done in her past was in extreme circumstances.”

“Brad’s right,” said Sally. “Nina and Rocco have proved themselves to be good students. You’re just not giving them a chance.”

Beth rolled her eyes, crossed her arms and sulked. Irene brought over Brad and Sally’s food and placed it carefully on the table.

“Beth, just about every kid I’ve taken in has had one trouble or another,” said Irene, “And when I see them overcome some of the stuff they’ve been through and change for the better, I see that as a real achievement. Matilda is old enough to make her own decisions now… let her have some friends. She might learn something from their life experiences…”

“You people are so blind, it’s unbelievable!” Beth snapped. ‘You’re all wrong about these kids and you’ll soon find out about them…” She got up and stormed out of the diner.

“Poor Maddie” said Sally. She turned and looked at Brad. ‘How much do you know about Nina?” she asked. “What kind of extreme circumstances were you talking about?”

Brad froze for a second before laughing it off. “It was a figure of speech Sal. That’s all. Can we change the subject? I’m absolutely starving…”

After school Nina was walking past the surf club when a couple of guys from her class stood in front of her. They were the same guys she had pulled off Rocco.

“How’s it going?” one of them asked her.

She looked at them suspiciously. “Fine” she said trying to walk past them. One of the guys tried to grab her from behind, but she quickly dropped her bag and elbowed him in his gut. The other guy that was still standing tried to grab her but she pushed him hard and he fell on his back. Nina tried to grab her bag off the ground but the guys had already grabbed it and were pulling everything out.

“What the hell are you doing?” she yelled.

“Where are they?” the guy yelled back at her.

“What are you talking about?” she asked.

“The drugs? Johnny Cooper told us that you could sell us some drugs… for the party this weekend.”

“And you think I’m stupid enough to carry them in my school bag? Idiots!” She snatched her bag off them and gave them a foul look.

“Look, we just wanted to get you back for embarrassing us the other day with Rocco,” the guy said. “You’re just a girl and we thought we could fight you off…get the drugs for free…”

Nina shook her head and was ready to walk away. She looked over to the side of the road where a silver car was driving along slowly. She saw Johnny sitting at the driver’s seat. He smiled menacingly and waved at her, before speeding off.

ChapterFourtySeven:

Jack drove slowly around the twists and bends on the highway to the city which incredibly frustrated Martha.

“Jack any slower and by the time we get there, the trip will be over.”

“Martha, I’m a cop. I don’t want to get pulled over for speeding. How embarrassing would that be?”

“You’re a suspended cop… so you’re allowed to take a few risks…” she grinned.

Jack saw the bright side of it. She was right. This was his chance to take some risks.

“So where are we staying?” Martha asked him.

He smiled and gave her a quick glance. “It’s a surprise. But you’ll love it. I called ahead this morning and everything is all organised for us.”

“Don’t keep me in suspense Jack!” she begged.

“Don’t worry your pretty little head about anything okay?” he told her. “This is my chance to make everything up to you.”

Martha grinned with excitement. “I sooo cannot wait to see what you have planned…”

Jack carried their bags up to their room, while Martha walked around in front of him checking out the place. “Jack this is perfect!” she exclaimed. “I feel like a princess here!”

Jack put their bags down and sprawled himself on the huge king size bed. “I am so tired from all that driving… I might just rest for a bit.”

Martha flicked through a booklet that was sitting on the table.

“Oh no you don’t Mr Holden, the hotel has a day spa, and a pool, and oh my god a gym… and we are going to take advantage of every minute of it.

“A day spa is not really my thing, I thought you could do that while I go and do blokey male things, you know?”

“Jack you promised you’d make it up to me…” she said pulling a sad face. “Please, pretty please. I don’t want to go alone…”

Jack grinned. “Alright, as long as you don’t make me do anything girly…”

“Isn’t this fantastic?” Martha exclaimed. “I feel so relaxed.”

“Yeah, so do I,” Jack said quietly. He wrapped himself in a white robe and lay down on a seat opposite Martha. “You just have to promise never to tell Dad or Lucas or anyone else at work that I had a mud bath and an exfoliating facial okay…”

“So you admit you like doing girly things…” Martha giggled.

“I never said that, although my skin feels amazing…” he laughed.

“You’re glowing Jack! Just like woman!” They laughed as they sipped on their drinks.

“Would the two of you like to have your massages now?” a lady said walking up to them.

“I will definetly be doing that!” said Martha. “Jack?”

He looked at his watch and shook his head. “Actually I have to start planning for tonight. There’s a few things I need to pick up.”

“You have more things planned?” said Martha.

“Of course I do… this is our time together and I want everything to be perfect,” he said getting up. “You relax and enjoy the massage, and I’ll meet up with you later okay?”

As he left, Martha’s heart almost jumped out of her body. She was so excited.

Jack got dressed and quickly snuck out before Martha suspected anything. He got out his cell phone and dialled a number.

“Hi, it’s me” he said seriously. “Listen I was wondering if we could have a chat. There’s something I need you to do for me…”
