“Ummm… Brad Pitt to turn up at my hotel room door?” she said cheekily. She stood up and walked over to the door.

“Brad Pitt?” Jack said with a bad taste in his mouth. “You know if you were going to wish for someone, you could’ve had better taste Martha.”

Hahaha! now if it wasn't for me Braddy Paddy wouldn't have been mentioned :P

Lol Aww! Hot Air Balloon ride, I would love to do that too, but me, I would freak out 2 metres off the ground lol

There was a police officer standing there.

“Gidday mate” the guy said to Jack. “I hope that I’m not interrupting anything?”

“Nothing. Praying.” She grinned.

“Huh? Praying for what?”

“Praying for it to start raining…”

Jack laughed. “You should do a rain dance then!

OMG that was really cute and funny. I can so see Martha doing that :P

Sorry guys... someone else has been hogging the computer and the only time I can get on is when they are in the shower! How desperate am I? Lol :P Anyway here's a bit of a "filler" chapter. Will be back to Jack and Martha after this!

ChapterFifty:

Rocco walked quickly along the beach. He that knew he shouldn’t be out this late, but he couldn’t sleep. He had tried calling Matilda, but he hung up when Beth answered the phone. He texted Matilda to see if she could sneak out and meet him but she hadn't answered him. He tried Nina after that, but there was no answer either. As he walked he reflected on everything that had happened to him. For the first time in his life he actually felt genuinely happy. He felt like he was somebody with a greater purpose in life.

He walked along the path that lead around by the boat sheds and he sat down on the bench that was there.

“Hey little brother…” a voice whispered behind him.

Rocco turned around frightened, as those words chilled down his spine. She stepped out of the shadows and smiled. “Nina…” he said relieved.

“Sorry, I saw you there, and I just couldn’t resist it.”

“Nah it’s okay” he laughed. “I just didn’t think that anyone would be around this time of night.”

She walked around and sat down next to him. “I couldn’t sleep, so I thought a walk might help,’ she told him. “What’s your story?”

“It’s nothing… really,” he said shaking his head. “Just needed some fresh air.”

There was an awkward silence between them as they watched the waves gently lap the shore in front of them. “I don’t blame you for being scared,” Nina said quietly. “I mean, after everything you’ve been through… I think you’re brave to do what you’re doing. Especially going up against your brother.”

Rocco sighed. “Yeah… Johnny… He’s my brother but... but I don’t want his life. How about you? What’s the story with your bro?”

“He’s harmless, I can handle him,” Nina laughed. “I stick around because he’s done so much for me, and I feel like I owe him you know? He’d never hurt me, but sometimes I wish that we could go our separate ways. I feel like he does everything just for me and I hate seeing him get punished for it.”

He smiled and looked at her. He saw that sadness in her eyes that he could relate to. He wanted to ask about what had happened to her, but thought otherwise. If she wanted to tell him, then she eventually would.

“Was Johnny always like how he is?” she asked him.

He thought for a minute. “When we were younger, he was great. I mean I idolised him,” he said. “I mean he’s smart, he’s tough, everyone listens to him. Somewhere along the line we both got mixed up in the wrong crowd.”

“He takes everything so seriously,” Nina said. “I honestly don’t think that there is a good person in there.”

“There is, but he just never shows it…” Rocco sighed. “Hey me and Maddie are going to hang out tomorrow… are you doing anything?”

Nina smiled and stood up slowly. “Thanks, but I think I’ll pass.”

“Why?” he asked puzzled.

“Oh, it’s just you and Maddie have this new thing going, and I’d just feel like a third wheel the whole time. That’s soooo not fun” she laughed.

Rocco stood up and started walking alongside her. “Sorry… maybe you could bring your mystery man?” he asked her.

“Mystery man?” she said a little in shock.

“Oh it was something Matilda said… about you having feelings for someone. Is there someone?”

“There’s no one,” she lied. “No one at all.”

They walked for a while along the road and talked. Rocco felt a kind of bond with her. As if she understood all the things that had happened in his life. She was a good listener, but she didn’t share much about herself. Rocco thought about the things he had heard about her, but he honestly couldn’t picture her hurting anyone. She seemed genuinely sweet and caring.

They were still laughing and talking when a familiar car pulled up beside them. Johnny and his mates sat in the car and stared the both of them down.

“You two are up late,” Johnny said. “Not doing anything dodgy are you?”

“We’re just walking home” Rocco said quietly. “We don’t want any trouble.”

“You want a lift?” Johnny asked.

“No, we’re right thanks” said Rocco anxiously.

The big guy in the passenger seat next to Johnny leaned over and smiled at Nina. “What about you gorgeous?” he asked her.

“I’ll walk thanks” Nina snapped at him.

Johnny couldn’t help but smile at her. The whole time the two of them had had their gaze fixed firmly on each other.

“Was that all Johnny?” Rocco asked.

Johnny switched his sights to his brother. “Actually… I wanted to let you guys know that we’re pulling a job this weekend.” He got out of the car and stood in front of them.

Rocco shook his head. “Why are you telling us…?”

“Because we’ll need you to help us out.”

“Forget it,” Rocco said angrily. “We don’t want any part of it.”

“Really?” Johnny laughed leaned back against the door of his car. “You know you’re new girlfriend is pretty cute Roc… You wouldn’t want anything to happen to her would ya?”

“Don’t you dare bring Matilda into this” Rocco threatened him.

“Or what?” Johnny laughed.

Rocco felt like lunging at him, but Nina held him back.

“Look,” she said angrily to Johnny. “I’ll help you, but you leave Rocco and Matilda out of this.”

“Nina, what are you doing?” Rocco said worriedly.

Johnny crossed his arms and thought about it for a minute. “I’ll need a lot more than your help to leave Roc and his pretty girlfriend out of this…”

Nina gritted her teeth. “Whatever you want, just leave them alone.”

Johnny grinned and got back into his car. “We’re doing the surf club after the party there on Saturday. The takings should be good so we’ll grab the cash and whatever else is worth it.” He looked around at all his mates and then back at her. “I’ll let you know the rest of the details later.” He put his car into gear and sped off.

Rocco grabbed Nina’s arm. “Are you crazy? You can’t get involved with the gang! Don’t help them!”

“It’s not that bad for me” she said trying to calm him. “I’m not in the gang, I can walk away at anytime. This was just his way of trying to get you back in. You’ve come too far to let that happen again.”

“Yeah, but Nina… it’s a bad idea…”

“I can handle it Rocco. It’s either this way, or his way. And I don’t want to see you or Maddie get hurt.”
