Thankies for the comments.

Awww, I hope it's not too confusing? All will be revealed soon... but I will tell you that Jack will make a miraculous recovery and bring them all down... that's what's to come!

For now though... Here's the first part of the next chapter...

ChapterSixtyOne: (Part A)

Macca grabbed the box of decorations and handed it to Cassie. “You guys just need to put the posters and stuff like that up,” said Macca. “I’ll deal with all the music equipment okay? And we should be done after that. Great work today guys.”

Cassie smiled at Nina. “You don’t mind working with me do you?” Cassie asked her.

“No, it’s fine…” Nina smiled politely.

“Listen Macca told me about you…”

“He what…?”

“Yeah, he told me how you and your brother helped him in the city a few years ago… when he lost his job. You and your brother helped him out. That was really nice…”

“Oh yeah,” Nina laughed nervously. “Treat people how you’d like to be treated and all that…” As Cassie walked away, Macca came up behind her carrying a huge box. “Sorry about that,” he whispered in her ear. “But I had to make up something. She was hounding me for info…”

“It’s cool,” Nina whispered back. “As long as you didn’t tell her anything near the truth, we’re still good.” Macca smiled.

“So who actually organised this?” Nina asked loudly.

“Oh, Martha. My sister,” said Macca. “Yeah, I’m trying to get back in her good books, so I said I’d help her out with this… she was actually meant to be in the city, but there’s been an emergency with Jack.”

“What kind of emergency?” Nina asked.

“Well haven’t you heard?” Macca said to her. “Martha’s husband Jack has been taken to hospital, he could have a heart failure or something. They don’t know the full details, but they reckon he might have been drugged. He had this liver transplant not long ago and apparently the drugs are causing problems.”

Nina gasped in horror. “You’re kidding? Right? Jack? Jack Holden?”

“That’s what Mr Stewart told me just before.” Macca said seeing the shock on her face. “You didn’t know Jack did you?”

“No, I don’t him,” Nina said trying to gain back her composure. “But I wouldn’t wish something like that on anyone. Hey… Is that cool if I get changed out of my uniform? I won’t be a sec.” Macca nodded as Nina excused herself and rushed to the bathroom. When she got into the stall she immediately pulled out her phone and called Nathan.

“Yeah I just heard about Jack Holden. What the hell happened?” she whispered angrily into her phone. “He was only meant to get sick! The drugs never affected me like that. I dunno he’s got some kind of liver condition or something, that’s what I heard anyway… Look it’s getting too dangerous now, we need to wrap this up. Yeah well I don’t care what my brother says… we might as well get out now when no one suspects anything… Nato, I’m serious. We can’t go through with it. I know that we’re close but… for god’s sake, an innocent man could die! Alright, look, I’ll talk to you tomorrow okay.” She closed her eyes and thought about all the pain she had endured the last few years of her life. She had repressed all that pain for so long and avoided it so that she could keep strong in front of her brother; but the numbness was starting to fade away and all her emotions were starting to surface. At the worst possible time in her life, she started to feel again.

When she walked back out into the surf club, Matilda, Rocco and Ric were sitting down at one of the tables.

“Hey guys,” she said smiling as she walked over to them.

Matilda grabbed her arm and pulled her down onto the seat next to her. It was Nina and Matilda on one side of the table, whilst Rocco and Ric sat opposite them respectively.

“You look great!" said Ric.

"Hey, Macca and Cassie had to leave,” said Matilda. “But Macca said to say thanks for helping out.”

“Oh, it’s not like I had anything better to do…” Nina laughed anxiously.

Matilda giggled. “Okay, well me and Ric will get the first round of drinks and we’ll take it from there shall we?”

Rocco and Nina both smiled. “Sure,” said Nina. “I’ll just grab an OJ if that’s okay.”

“Yeah, same for me thanks,” said Rocco as Ric and Matilda walked to the bar.

“So what’s been happening?” Nina asked him.

“Oh nothing much,” Rocco said. “Me and Maddie have been hanging out. Trying to figure out how to get her Mum to like me…”

“Oh, yeah, her Mum is a tough one to break,”

“Yeah, but I’m more worried about Matilda having to deal with Johnny that’s all.” Rocco said concerned.

“Has Johnny been hassling you?” she asked him.

“Kind of I guess. He’s still threatening to hurt her if I don’t get back in the gang…” Rocco said sadly.

“What a jerk,” Nina said shaking her head. “Is there anything you can do to get him to leave you alone?”

“I’ve tried. I’ve tried so many times, but once Johnny has an idea in his head, it’s hard to get him to change his mind about something.”

As Ric and Matilda walked back over to them with the drinks, Rocco and Nina looked over at the door.

Rocco rolled his eyes and mumbled quietly to himself. “Speak of the devil…”

Thanks Emma! :D Here's some more drama...

ChapterSixtyOne: (Part B)

The surf club went eerily quiet as Johnny and three of his mates walked in. They sat down directly opposite the table where Rocco was sitting. They scared off the people who were playing at the pool table and took over.

“I hope you fella’s aren’t in here to cause trouble?” Alf said sternly.

“No why would we do that?” Johnny said walking up to the bar. “We’re just here to see what the night life is like. Have a little fun if you know what that is old man?”

Alf glared at him, but Johnny just laughed and ordered some drinks for him and his mates. Reluctantly Alf served him.

Rocco tried hard to avoid making eye contact with Johnny, but he knew that his brother was there to try and intimidate him.

“Guys, maybe we should leave?” Rocco suggested. “Maybe we can go back to Sal’s?”

Matilda looked over at Johnny. “Rocco, you can’t let him get to you like that, that’s what he wants…” she said calmly.

“Maddie, maybe Rocco is right?” Ric interjected. “You don’t’ know him, he could be a really dangerous guy to cross.”

‘Well I’m not scared of him…” Matilda stood up and stormed over to Johnny and his friends. They were a bit surprised that she had come over to them and they all sat there with puzzled grins on their faces.

“Listen, Johnny Cooper,” Matilda said angrily. “You leave Rocco alone. He’s your brother for god’s sakes, you should be looking out for him and protecting him, but instead you’re the one who’s bullying him! Leave him alone!”

Johnny was a little shocked at her outburst, but laughed it off anyway. He looked past her directly at Rocco. “Getting your girlfriend to fight for you now eh Roc?” he grinned. “Nice one mate.” He looked at Matilda. She was shaking and he could see that she was scared. “You make a good point, and I’ll take it into consideration. How about that?”

Matilda frowned as Johnny and his friends laughed at her. “Loser,” she muttered as she walk away.

Rocco grabbed her hand as she sat back down at the table. “Maddie, you didn’t have to do that for me you know? I can handle Johnny.”

“Someone had to tell him,” she said sadly. “He can’t treat you like that.”

“Yeah but Johnny is one of those guys that always gets his way. Let me handle him from now on okay?” said Rocco.

Matilda nodded. “Alright.”

A group of tarty chicks walked in and they made a direct beeline for the guys at the pool table. The three of them had short short mini skirts and halter neck tops that most people would use as handkerchiefs. The guys loved it though. Their tough image always drew these kinds of girls. Johnny was the only one who wasn’t paired up with anyone, and he sat back and observed everyone around him.

Lee walked in looking like she was lost. “Have you seen Lucas?” she asked.

Matilda shook her head. “Jack’s in hospital, so he might be there.”

“Oh so I guess he won’t be coming out tonight?” she said sullenly.

“You could join us if you want?” said Rocco, “there’s heaps of room here.”

Lee looked at the four of them like they were diseased or something. “I doubt it,” she said meanly. “I want a crowd that going to have some fun tonight. Not a group that’s going to go home and play scrabble after this.” She scoured the room for any potential guy she could cling herself onto. She was very pleased when she spotted Johnny.

“If you’ll excuse me, but I have some networking to do…” she said walking over to him.

“You guys don’t seriously think that she’s going to…?” Matilda started to say. They all looked on as Lee sat down next to Johnny and began flirting with him.

“Oh my god she is!” exclaimed Ric. “She’s got guts…”

Rocco laughed. “She’s too over the top. Johnny won’t go for her…”

“What a skank…” Nina muttered under her breath.

Johnny wasn’t quite sure what to make of Lee. His first instinct was to tell her to get lost, but the girl was throwing herself at him. He was dubious about her at first, but then he saw the jealous look on Nina’s face. He knew he could play this to his advantage.

They were all just as shocked when Lee climbed into Johnny’s lap and the two of them started flirting with each other like crazy. Rocco couldn’t believe it. The guy sitting there was not his brother. Nina couldn’t believe it either. She knew exactly what he was trying to do.

Matilda’s phone beeped and she checked her message. “Awww,” she said annoyed. “It’s Mum. She wants me home. She says I’m being inconsiderate to Tony and Lucas about Jack…”

“It’s okay Maddie,” said Ric. “They probably do need your support right now.”

“Yeah, you’re right Ric.” Matilda sighed. “I’m really sorry,” she said to Rocco and Nina.

“Hey it’s cool. You go… we can catch up tomorrow…” Nina told her.

“I’ll walk you home” said Rocco. “At least then I’ll know that you’re okay.”

Matilda smiled. “Thanks, I'd like that. Will you two be okay?”

Nina and Ric smiled at each other. ‘We’ll be fine” said Ric. “But then I guess this was part of your plan all along right?”

Matilda and Rocco laughed. “Have fun…” said Rocco. He took a last serious look at his brother before he left. Johnny winked at him, but that was it, the only thing on his mind was making Nina jealous. He saw her alone with Ric and the way that they smiled at each other. Despite the fact that he had Lee, he was not pleased. He was not pleased at all.

Next: Ric confides his real feelings to Nina and will Lee have her way with Johnny?
