Wow I read *counts on fingers* 4 new chapters! There are so many things to write about...

I'm so glad that Jack is finally awake, I thought he was going to die :( What is going to happen to Jacky and Mac? You say its good, but what if it breaks them up!

In that last chapter Nina towards the end seemed to be turning good, hope Rocco is ok from now on. Maybe that was Nina's good deed for the day. I hope Johnny keeps his word.

Please update soon, loving it so far!

Thankies for commenting guys! You all rock! :D

No probs for the summary...

Hmmm, yeah. Sixty something chapters. I'm glad you guys have all stuck with me though...

Emma - what happens to Jack and Mac (because of Nina and Johnny) won't happen for a while, but it will make them happy because there is a bit of drama ahead for them.

Tasha - sorry about the Jack and Martha drama! *runs and hides*

Sian - you better buy Ash and Kelly voodoo dolls too...

Shortie - I couldn't have said it better myself.

I'm just writing the last paragraph in the next chapter, so I'll put it up after this

ChapterSixtySix:

Jack smiled when Martha came back into the room. “I snuck some food in for you from the diner,” she whispered. “I know how much you hate the hospital food.”

“Actually, I think I’m used to it by now,” Jack laughed.

“So how are you feeling?” she asked him a she set up the food on the tray.

“Yeah, a lot better. I feel like I just woke up from a very long sleep that’s all.”

“Well we were all so worried about you Jack,” Martha told him. “You could’ve died.”

“Yeah, but I’m not dead. I would never leave you like that Martha. Not now, not ever.” He held her hand and smiled at her.

“Okay, just promise you will never ever get sick ever again and I’ll forgive you.”

“Alright I promise.”

“Including stuff like the flu, I don’t want to take any chances,” she giggled.

“Let’s just play it by ear shall we?” Jack laughed.

There was a knock at the door. Darren poked his head in.

“Gidday Jack,” he said cheerfully. “Tony called and told us you were awake. I just came to see how you were doing.”

Jack smiled. “Yeah, it’s the hangover from hell, I can tell you that.”

McGrath laughed. “Well I see you’re in good spirits then. Don’t worry we’re doing the best we can to find out what happened.”

Jack frowned. “Rachel was saying that Nathan’s in town. Is he the one investigating?”

McGrath bit his lip and sighed. “Yes. Umm, HQ decided to send him down to look into it, seeing as it happened in the city. But don’t worry, Nato is a great detective and he’ll get to the bottom of this.”

“Well I hope so,” Martha interjected. “Who would want to do something like this?”

“We’re doing the best we can to find out, believe me.” McGrath smiled.

“Rachel told me that someone else had the same drugs in their system a couple of days ago,” said Jack. “Do you think that it’s possibly related?”

McGrath stood there uncomfortably and Jack noticed that right away. “We don’t think so Jack. These drugs are widely available on the black market, but we are keeping it in mind.”

“Who was this other person?” Martha asked.

“That girl Nina. She was sick the other night. She was sick because of the same drugs.” Jack said quietly.

McGrath froze. “Look we aren’t totally sure about anything yet,” he said nervously. “Look it’s getting late, I better get back to the station. You get well soon Jack alright?”

Jack and Martha were suspicious of his weird behaviour as he quickly left.

Nina was talking to Nurse Julie at the main desk when McGrath walked past her. “Hey kiddo,” he greeted her. “I hope you’re staying out of trouble?”

“Yeah of course I am,” she smiled at him. She saw the grim look on his face. “Why what have I done this time?”

“Julie, do you mind if talk to Miss Rogers here for a minute?” he asked.

Julie nodded and McGrath quickly took Nina aside.

“We’ve had to add some things to your medical records. I’ve just made the switch. Listen, Jack knows that you were drugged with the same thing… I really think he’s getting suspicious.”

“You think so?” she asked. “I don’t understand? The drugs were meant to work straight away and he was only meant to spew up a bit. The plan was for him to stay in the city so he didn’t get in the way here…”

“Well there’s been a change of plan then hasn’t there…” he snapped at her. “When does your brother get back?”

“Monday… he’s got that drug pick up in the city on Sunday night. He’d arranged it ages ago."

McGrath thought for minute. “The thing is, I can’t keep covering for you kiddo, people are starting to ask questions. Rachel, Jack… next thing the whole station will be pointing the finger at me. This is getting too dangerous.”

“Look I know what you’re thinking Uncle Darren… and I didn’t choose to involve you in this. I’ll talk to Nathan and we’ll sort everything out. We won’t get caught, and nobody will have any reason to accuse you of anything. I promise. We’ve covered our tracks before and we’ll do it again.”

They waked back out into the main waiting area, where Rachel was standing with some files in her hand. ‘Nina, there you are,” she said cheerfully. ‘Are you ready for your check up?”

“Ready than I’ll ever be I guess…” she said politely.

“You stay out of trouble… you hear me,” McGrath warned.

Rachel took Nina into her office.

“So how are you feeling?” Rachel asked her.

“Fine, like normal,” she replied.

“I guess you heard about Jack Holden?”

“No? He’s the cop right? What happened to him?”

“It seems that he was drugged with the same thing you were…”

“Well I didn’t know that I’d been drugged Dr Armstrong…” Nina said innocently.

Rachel looked at her in shock. “Oh… well… god I’m not being very professional about this am I?” Rachel said nervously. “Your blood tests came back with a drug called epinephrine in your system. We managed to find out about it in your second blood test. Do you have any idea how you could’ve taken something like that?”

Nina shook her head. “Nope. I have no idea.”

“The thing that is troubling me is that your symptoms were nowhere as bad as Jack’s and yet you both had the same dosage.”

“Look, I’m not a doctor… so I honestly couldn’t tell you?”

Rachel walked over to her with her stethoscope. “Okay, I’ll just do a normal check up to give you the all clear.” She lifted up Nina’s t-shirt and saw a large scar running down her back.

“How did you get that scar?” Rachel asked her as she checked her breathing.

“Um, oh when I was little, I fell out of a tree. Hurt my back that’s all…” Nina lied.

“Right, okay then…” Rachel knew otherwise. What she had seen was a surgical scar.

When they had finished Rachel walked her back to the main desk. “Everything seems to be normal Nina, you’ve recovered really well,” she said smiling.

“Great, I won’t need another check up or anything will I?” she asked.

“Actually, just stop by next week. Just as a precaution okay?” said Rachel as she signed some forms.

Nina nodded as Nurse Julie walked behind the desk. “Rachel... Mrs Hamilton in ward three is complaining of some stomach pain, do you mind taking a look?”

“Sure…” said Rachel. “Stop by anytime next week Nina okay. I’ll always be here if you need anything. Anything at all.” Rachel left and quickly followed Juile down the hallway.

Nina sighed and lingered around the desk. One of the hospital orderlies walked up to the desk looking around for someone. “Have you seen Dr Armstrong?” he asked Nina.

“Umm, yeah, she’ll be back in a minute,” she told him. He nodded and left a brown envelope sitting on the desk. When he walked away Nina looked at the label.

“-Jack Holden. Blood Results.”

She took the envelope and quickly stuffed it into her bag and left.
