I've read up to chapter 33 so far and hope to catch up with the rest over the weekend (as Celebrity Big Brother's on TV now!) Just thought you might like to know my impressions so far: Johnny scowled. “Mate, he’s done hard time. He’s violent, he’s dodgy, he’s a criminal. He’s exactly the kind of guy we want to be around. If didn’t know any better I would’ve thought the two us were twins.” “Honey I’m home!’ he shouted as he entered. I love Johnny's dark humour! When he looked at her all he could see was sadness and pain. He knew then that she was almost as dark as he was. What he had seen in her eyes was his reflection. That's beautiful. Sorry for the really boring chapters... i'm still having a bit of writers block... !!! You wrote that just after you’d written this: Matilda ran along the beach. All of the people around her were totally oblivious to her pain. Those words echoed in her head. “I mean nothing, because I am nothing…” before long she realised that she was saying those words out loud. She ran out into the water and tried to swim out as far as she could. Perhaps the water could take her away to another place, far away where no one could hurt her. At least for now the water washed away her tears. The Nina/Matilda friendship was really sweet and very believable. Trust me, it wasn’t a boring chapter. “She was at a high school in the city. I’m not sure about the full details, but the police report said that she pulled a gun on another student.” Great line; great drama! “Hello?” he said in a high-pitched voice. “Yes is this the police? Listen I was just inside the hospital and I heard these two people talking. I didn’t mean to listen to their conversation, but I’m old and I have nothing better to do with my time… You see I’m a bit concerned… They said that they were planning to steal some drugs from the hospital….” Excellent ending to that chapter...and then the follow-up... Jake frowned. “YOU called the cops?” Johnny laughed. “It was a test mate. I had to see how you’d react under pressure.” Just for you jack4martha.... i apologise though because i'm not good at writing the love stuff... I'm going to go totally against popular opinion now and say I agree with you. It's not that you're "not good" at it - you're simply much better with drama. Anybody can write "fluff" and I guess if that's what the public want... Don't drop it entirely (like I said, you give the public what they want) but remember where your talent lies. Great fic so far, Adia. I really like the strong friendship you've built up between Rocco, Matilda and Nina. And I don't know if Jake and Nina actually exist in the show but they're fascinating. Really well done if you've created them yourself.

I love music- Thank you, your comments were really nice, especially as I am a huge fan of your writing. Jake and Nina are just random characters that I made up... but they are causing a lot of trouble for Jack... Update will be up tomorrow...

There was still pain in his stomach, but most of the other symptoms seemed to have faded. He still had the killer headache, but that was to be expected, considering he’d been drugged. He knew that Nathan had some connection to Jake. Maybe Ash was right? Maybe Nathan was a corrupt cop? Martha came into the room and interrupted Jack’s thoughts. “I hope you were thinking about me Jack Holden,” she teased him. He smiled. “Of course… what else would I be thinking about?” “How about… getting discharged today?” she smiled back at him. “Really? Today? Did Rachel say that?” “She sure did Jacky boy…” Martha said rubbing his shoulders. “They finally got the blood test results. There was some stuff up at the lab or something and they forgot to send it up here, but Rachel says all your blood levels are fine and you are one healthy Holden man.” “That’s great!” Jack exclaimed. “I don’t think I could handle being in hospital for much longer. I’m actually starting to like it in here…” Martha hit him playfully. “You’d rather be in here than at home with me?” she asked. “Well…?” Jack teased. “I mean here there is room service, hot nurses…” “Jack!” “I’m kidding Martha. There’s nowhere else I would rather be than with you.” “Good,” she said satisfied. “Tony’s coming down soon, so once Rachel finishes the paper work, you’re good to go. But Jack, when we get home. We really need to talk.” “Well what’s up?” he asked worriedly. “Oh it’s nothing, it’s just… we’ll talk about it when we get home okay?” Tony helped Jack through the door, holding onto him as if Jack had never walked before in his life. “Stop fussing Dad!” Jack laughed. “You’re like my shadow.” “Sorry, Jack… but you’re my first born” Tony said pinching Jack’s cheeks. “I gotta look out for you mate…” “Dad!” Jack exclaimed laughing. “Hey that’s my job anyway” Martha interjected as she brought the bags in. “Sorry Mac,” Tony said shyly. “You know I have this ‘maternal instinct’ when it comes to my boys…” He straightened Jack’s collar and brushed some lint off him. “Dad!” Jack exclaimed again. Tony and Martha laughed hysterically. “Listen I’ve got head down to the gym, but I’ll stop by later okay?” Tony said after he finished laughing. “I’ll let Martha take care of you for now, but I’ll come back with some nice chicken soup… then maybe we can watch the footy and have a few beers.” “Thank god you’ve still got the ‘paternal instinct’” Martha told him. Tony gave them a wave before he headed out the door. “Thank god…” Jack sighed. “I was beginning to think he was being serious.” “Oh he’s your Dad and he cares about you,” said Martha. “Besides he has such a great feminine side.” “Hey!” Jack laughed as he sat down on the couch. “So now that we’re alone… what did you want to talk about?” Martha sat down next to him and took a deep breath. ‘Well, Jack. This is really hard to say, but I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately, and I really think that…” Jack frowned. “Oh Martha, look I know we’ve been having problems but I thought we sorted everything out?” “Jack, it’s not that simple…” “Martha!” “Jack will you listen to me and stop interrupting!” She grabbed his hands and held them tightly on her lap. Jack wondered what was going on in that head of hers. “Okay, Jack… the last few months have just been, almost unreal. The stuff that’s happened to us… Zoe, Mumma Rose, the pyro… we’ve been through so much and we’ve hardly spent any time together. Even when we tried… you ended up getting drugged and coming back to the hotel with another woman…” “But Martha I…” Martha shushed him. “But even through all of that, we’re still here. We’re still together, we still love each other and I want to make sure that we can make this work.” “What do you mean?” Jack asked her. “I mean… when I saw you in that hospital bed. I could’ve lost you Jack. I could've lost you AGAIN... And I don’t ever want to lose you. I want a part of you here with me forever.” “You won’t lose me Martha,” he said stroking her hair. “I will always be here for you. Always. You can’t get rid of me that easily.” Martha smiled and breathed deeply again. “So you agree then?” she asked him. “Agree with what? You never asked me anything?” Jack said confused. “Jack, I want a baby. I want us to start our family.”
