I love music- Thank you, your comments were really nice, especially as I am a huge fan of your writing. Jake and Nina are just random characters that I made up... but they are causing a lot of trouble for Jack... Update will be up tomorrow... Actually, Adia, I think you write better than I do. So I take it your out of the dog box Holden?” Harper asked as Jack signed in. “As a matter of fact Senior, I think Martha has thrown the dog box away” Jack laughed. You need to bring in your A game in from now on Jack, or I will be giving you a formal warning.” “Because you’re falling kiddo, you’re falling hard and you’re falling fast." Great dialogue. “Matilda, you cannot see that boy again.” Beth warned her. “He is dangerous and he’s a criminal. What’s gotten into you lately? First you were hanging out with Nina and now Rocco. These people are bad!” “Where do you think you’re going young lady?” Beth asked her. “I’m going to school if that’s alright with you.” She snapped. “That’s still allowed isn’t it? Or would you rather I stay here so you can keep an eye on me 24/7?” And Beth’s reaction is very realistic. That was a brilliant twist at the end of chapter 39, with Nina and Johnny. Totally unexpected! “It was one of those kind of nights. I think her name was…Martha?” He smiled and waited for Jack’s reaction. Johnny’s humour is great! I think he has a fan... Nathan quickly picked up his phone. “Yeah it’s me,” he whispered into the phone. “Where are you? We need to meet up later. Look, someone’s sniffing around. You need to lay low or I can’t protect you. Someone will catch on to me soon enough…” Don’t know why, but I never trusted Nathan right from the start... “A courier’s going to be dropping off some gear. It’ll be too obvious if me or the boys do it. Nobody will suspect you trafficking illegal drugs.” “How much are we talking?” Nina asked him. “$50K worth.” “Are you crazy, there’ll be cops around for sure, there’s a party going on. It’s the stupidest time to make a drop off like that.” “You obviously haven’t been in this town long.” Johnny laughed. “The cops here are all the rejects that can’t get a job in a real police station. They’re stupid as…” “Still…” Johnny has a good point. When you think of all that’s happened in Summer Bay over the years... “Tell me Macca!” “I can’t Cas.” “Macca?” She stood there with her arms crossed. “Alright. Alright, but you can’t say anything to anybody…” Love all the intrigue too. Nina and Jake are fantatic characters. All in all, great story! A bit of a long one: ChapterSeventyOne: “So Nina was telling us she thought you were the sweetest guy she’s ever met…” Matilda said to Ric as they sat around at the caravan park house. Ric blushed. “Ahh, yeah. We had a good time the other night. We talked, and let’s just say that Nina is a really observant girl.” Rocco walked over with a plate of sandwiches. “So do you think that there could be something more there?” Rocco asked. “I’m not even going to speculate…” Ric said smiling and playfully zipping his mouth shut. “Hey, I might go and grab some CD’s from upstairs… all there is here is Grandad’s Engelbert Humperdink music…” Rocco and Matilda laughed. “Something a little better would be nice,” said Matilda. “Hey!” Ric exclaimed as he got up. “Ten Guitars is a classic Maddie!” He played a bit of air guitar before he disappeared upstairs. “So do you still want to go to the party tomorrow night?” Rocco asked her. “Of course. Why wouldn’t we go?” said Matilda. “It’s just, with what happened this morning and the stuff with your Mum, I can understand if you can’t go.” “I still really want to go with you Rocco,” she smiled. “And I’m not going to let anyone come between us…” Rocco smiled back at her. Slowly he leaned in to kiss her, but just as he got within an inch of her lips, Beth appeared behind them. **** Jack was a little stunned with what Martha had just said. “A bbbbaby?” he stammered. “What? You want to have a baby?” “Yep!” Martha beamed at him. “I don’t want just A baby, I want lots. Lots of little Holden’s running around.” “Martha… Martha… I…” “What’s wrong Jack? You want this too right?” Her face became sad as she saw the grim look on his face. “I thought you’d like the idea?” “It’s just… do you really want this? Because there’s no going back once it’s done. It’ll be me and you and our kids for life.” “I know that Jack. Being connected to you for the rest of my life is what I want more than anything. Having a little human being that is a part of both of us would be the most amazing thing. I just know it would. Jack frowned jokingly before he smiled at her. “I don’t like the idea… I LOVE the idea Martha!” **** “How did I know that you’d be here – With HIM!” Beth shouted angrily rushing towards them. “Mum, you can’t just walk in here when you like,” said Matilda. “Get off her!” Beth yelled at Rocco. “I thought I made myself clear when I said you weren’t to see each other?” “Mrs Hunter, I think you’re being a little bit unreasonable,” Rocco said standing up and facing her. “I mean you don’t even know me.” “I know about your kind Rocco Cooper, and I don’t want my daughter getting involved with that sort of life.” “I’m trying really hard here…” Rocco pleaded. “I’m in love with Maddie and…” “Love!” Beth exclaimed. “People like you don’t know what it’s like to love. All you do is hurt people and right now, you’re the one tearing our family apart!” “No, he’s not Mum!” Matilda interjected. “It’s you! You’re the one that’s causing all this trouble!” Ric rushed down the stairs. “What’s going on?” he asked. “Matilda, get in the car. I’m taking you home.” Beth said crossly. Matilda folded her arms in a huff. “No, I’m not going anywhere with you.” “Get in the car NOW!” Beth shouted. “Beth…” Ric said trying to be calm. “Don’t you think you’re overreacting a bit?” “Keep out of this Ric, it’s not your business.” She picked up Matilda’s things and dragged her out to the car. “I don’t know why you’re doing this to me!’ Matilda shouted as she threw her school bag on the couch. Beth walked through the door behind her fuming with anger at Matilda’s attitude towards her. “You will listen to me young lady,” Beth said pointing her finger. “You’re grounded until you can learn to respect me and the rules that I’ve set for you. You are not to see that boy again. I don’t care if you have to change schools. Rocco Cooper can no longer be a part of your life.” “You can’t do this… It’s not fair!” Matilda yelled at her. “I told you before I don’t care what you say. You can’t control me.” “Oh yes I can,” said Beth. “I can control everything around here and if that means I have to keep an eye on you the whole time, then that’s what’s going to happen. Now go to your room and stay there until you are ready to apologise to me.” Matilda gritted her teeth. “Whatever!” she said rolling her eyes. She stormed off to her room and slammed the door. “I just think you need to go easy on her Beth,” said Tony. “She hasn’t done anything wrong.” “She deliberately disobeyed me,” Beth snapped. “Look I’m obviously not going to change your mind about Rocco,” Tony sighed. “But at least listen to what Tilly has to say. She has a good head on her shoulders, I’m sure she knows what she’s doing.” “You don’t know anything about this, let me deal with this my own way.” Tony shook his head. “Alright then. I’m off over to Jack and Martha’s. See how Jack’s doing. Lucas will be there too. Maybe it might give you guys the chance to sort things out?” Matilda sat in her room crying the whole night. She wished that there was some way she could stop Beth from controlling her. She hated being told what to do, especially when Beth was being so stubborn about it. She lay on her bed and wiped away her tear stained cheeks. A thought crossed her mind. Perhaps there was a way? She pulled out a bag from her wardrobe and started packing her things.
