Lol! Yes I agree...

The italics are just random songs that are the background music at the party... just to give that 'atmosphere...' lol.

ChapterSeventyFive:

I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind,

There was something so pleasant about that place...

Even your emotions had an echo in so much space…

“When did Matilda and Nina say they’d be here?” Ric yelled over the music.

“They never said when,” Rocco said handing him a drink. “I’m sure they’ll be here soon though…”

The party was in full swing. The dimly lit surf club was crowded with teenagers dancing away to the thumping music. Belle, dressed in a very tight, black strapless dress grabbed a drink from the bar and stumbled over to where Ric and Rocco were standing.

“Hey guys!” she exclaimed. “You having a good time?”

“Yeah, it’s not too bad” said Ric.

“You both look incredibly bored…” she told them.

“And you look a little drunk Belle,” said Ric.

“Yeah, maybe you should take it easy…” said Rocco.

“I… am having a good time. And nothing or nobody is going to ruin it!” she giggled. “Where are your other halves anyway?”

“They’re a bit late,” said Ric.

“Well then you can dance with me then! Come on!” she grabbed Ric’s hand and led him onto the dance floor.

Come on now who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you Think you are, ha ha ha, bless your soul,

You really think you're in control!

Well,

I think you're crazy...

I think you're crazy...

I think you're crazy...

Just like me…

Martha poured another drink and handed it to Jack. “Isn’t this great Jack!” she said excitedly looking around. “Everything is going so well…”

“Yeah,” Jack smiled. “You should become one of those party promoter thingees.”

“Ha, ha. So did you guys end up finding Maddie today?” she asked.

Jack shook his head. “No… but we saw Ric who told us that he’d seen her and that she was okay. Apparently she’ll be here tonight…”

“Oh god,” Martha whispered leaning towards him. “I’d hate to see what Beth will do when she sees Maddie. It could be world war three.”

“Did you say something Martha?” Beth said standing over her shoulder.

“Ummm, no…” Martha replied anxioulsy. “We were just talking about the music…”

“Oh I thought I heard you say my name…” Beth said suspicious.

“Nope,” said Martha shaking her head.

“So listen,” Jack said as Beth went back to the other side of the bar. “When do you have your next break?”

“Not for a while. Probably once things calm down a bit. Why?”

“Oh no reason… I just thought we could have a dance or something…” Jack grinned.

“I’m sorry but I’m a married woman,” she said sarcastically. “Maybe one dance later though okay?” she kissed his cheek and started serving some customers. Jack scribbled something on a napkin and slid it over to her.

“My number…” he said walking away smiling. “Just in case…”

I was so lost back then

But with a little help from my friends

I found a light in the tunnel at the end

Now you're calling me up on the phone

So you can have a little whine and a moan

And it's only because you're feeling alone

Belle was seriously manhandling Ric while they danced, and that made him a little uncomfortable.

“Belle, I think I might go and sit down for a bit,” he yelled out to her.

“No not yet Ric!” she shouted. She put her arms around his neck and got even closer to him. She looked over to the side of the dance floor and grinned vindictively. Ric looked to see what she was looking at, and saw an angry Drew Curtis shaking his head and making his way out the door.

At first when I see you cry,

yeah it makes me smile, yeah it makes my smile

At worst I feel bad for a while,

but then I just smile I go ahead and smile

“I think I know what this is about,” Ric said gently pushing her off. “It’s Drew isn’t it?”

“Don’t even mention his name!” she yelled. “He’s a loser. I mean what kind of boyfriend goes after your mother… it’s so sick…” She felt dizzy and hot, and just standing seemed hard for her at that point.

“How much have you had to drink?" Ric asked her.

“Maybe a little tiny weeny teeny bit” she said meekly.

“Using alcohol to drown your sorrows is not the way to go Belle,” Ric said helping her stand. “Come on, let’s get you sobered up before you get kicked out.”

My love

I love the way you're standing

Lips look so sweet, like cotton candy (My love)

That don't mean you gotta stop dancing

'Cause the way that you move is so demanding (My love)

Let's put it on cruise control

Let me take you to the crib, let me ease your soul (My love)

I gonna take it really nice and slow

But first let me, let me, let me talk to her

My love, hey, my love, hey

My love, hey, my love, hey

My love, hey, my love, hey

My love, hey, my love, hey

My love, hey, my love, hey

My love, hey, my love, hey

My love, hey, my love, hey

Rocco looked up as Matilda entered and headed straight for him.

“Hey…” he blushed. “You definitely know how to keep a guy waiting…”

“Sorry,” she said hugging him. “I wanted everything to be perfect.”

“You’re perfect all the time anyway, so…”

Now it was Matilda’s turn to blush. She looked into his eyes…

“Matilda Harriet Jane Hunter! What the hell do you think you are doing?”

I love that song too... :) There's some bad stuff in this chapter, not bad bad... but just a couple of references to

drugs/alcohol

Just warning ya, I don't want to upset any younger readers...

ChapterSeventySix:

Ain't another woman that can take your spot, my love

Nina got in the car and sat in the passenger seat. She handed Johnny a silver briefcase and a piece of paper.

“Hey beautiful,” he smiled. “You did good.”

“So what happens now?” she asked him.

“I drop it off to someone else in the morning and collect my fee, that’s what happens…” he grinned and patted the briefcase gently. “As long as we don’t get busted by the cops, it should be all sweet.”

She held his face in her hands and kissed him. “I guess you’ll need all the luck you can get then…”

Let the record play,

Let the record play,

Let the record play.

And the record keeps playing,

The same old song,

The hipsters mean mugging on me all night long,

They say "Aha, ahha",

Keep your hands off my girl,

Keep your hands off my girl,

And the record keeps playing,

The same old song,

The hipsters mean mugging on me all night long,

They say "Aha, ahha",

Keep your hands off my girl,

Keep your hands off my girl.

“Why can’t you just leave me alone!” Matilda shouted at Beth. “Whatever you want to say just say it now, because I’m here to have a good time with my boyfriend and you’re not going to ruin it like you always do…”

Beth stood there with a ghastly expression on her face. “Matilda! You have got a lot of explaining to do young lady!” she reached over to grab Matilda’s arm, but Rocco quickly pulled Matilda away from her.

“Matilda you are coming home with me right now!” she screamed.

“No Mum, no… you can’t control me anymore. I won’t let you. From now on I’m going to do what I want. So go back to your pathetic little life and leave me alone.”

Beth’s lip trembled and she put her hand on her chest, hoping that the pain she felt wasn’t real. “If that’s the way you want it Matilda…”

Tony ran up behind her and hugged her tightly. “Come on love,” he whispered. “Let’s just go.”

“Are you okay?” Rocco asked.

“She always ruins everything. I’m sorry.” Matilda said sadly.

“No it’s fine. You want a drink?”

“I think I might go and get some fresh air first okay?” she said to him. “Clear my head a bit.”

We'll do it all

Everything

On our own

We don't need

Anything

Or anyone

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world

Jack grinned wildly as he unbuttoned his shirt. “I honestly cannot believe I’m doing this Martha…” They were sitting in the back of Jack’s Kermit car, like two teenagers on their first date, trying to decide which base they should let the other one get to.

“Well we better hurry because Grandad will get sus if I’m not back soon…” Martha giggled.

Jack laughed in excitement. “Hang on… what will your husband think?”

She grinned. “The same thing that your wife is thinking…”

A few times I've been around that track

So it's not just gonna happen like that

'cuz I ain't no hollaback girl

I ain't no hollaback girl

Matilda walked outside and sat down on one of the benches. She tried hard to hold back the tears, but there was too much emotion building up inside her.

“You look like you could use a drink,” Belle said sitting down next to her. “Here… we can drown our sorrows together.”

Matilda stared at the flask. “What have you got to be upset about?” she asked her.

“Well haven’t you heard?” Belle said drunkenly. “My dear sweet mother decided to get it on with my boyfriend. Those two sickos deserve each other. Come on, you want some or not. Otherwise…”

Matilda snatched the flask from Belles hands and gulped down as much as she could.

“Well, my Mum is a control freak who insists on ruining every part of my life…”

“Well that just sucks…” Belle laughed. “At least you still have your hot boyfriend though…”

“Probably not for long though,” she sighed. “Who’d want to go out with someone who has a mother like mine… she makes me mad and sad at the same time… I wish that I didn’t have to feel like this…”

Belle looked intensely at Matilda as the silence built up between them. “Hey Matilda,” she said finally. “You really want to make the pain go away?” She pulled out a small clear plastic bag from her purse. There were two white pills in there.

“Some guy was standing in the car park earlier on… he said I looked like I needed them.”

“Belle, I don’t know. I swore that I wouldn’t do that again after what happened to me last time…”

“Oh,” Belle said sadly. “I just thought…”

In the day

In the night

Say it right

Say it all

You either got it

Or you don't

You either stand or you fall

When your will is broken

When it slips from your hand

When there's no time for joking

There's a hole in the plan

Jack was holding Martha’s hand tightly as they made their way back into the surfclub.

“I hope to god that no one saw us…” said Jack.

“That would have been so embarrassing…” Martha laughed. “I was half expecting Grandad to come knocking on the window… ‘you flaming kids!”

“Isn’t weird though… I mean we’re married…”

Martha nodded. ‘Yeah… but it really doesn’t seem like it…”

Oh you don't mean nothing at all to me

No you don't mean nothing at all to me

Do you got what it takes to set me free

Oh you could mean everything to me

“I don’t think that you should take it Belle,” Matilda said worried. “Do you even know what it is?”

“No. He never said what it was…” Belle said confused. She held the bag up above her head, hoping to catch more light.

“There’s no words or anything on there…” she said squinting her eyes.

Jack and Martha walked past Matilda and Belle. Jack saw the bag that Belle was holding up. “What are exactly are you guys doing?”
