Thanks you three! :D

Finally an update. I think I have lost my mojo though... I keep getting distracted... I think it might be because of "sash"... :P Anyway hope this is okay...

ChapterEightyNine:

Jake sat on the park bench, anxiously rubbing his palms together. He checked his watch, then his phone, then his watch again. Nina sat next to him, her arms folded, glaring sulkily at the people who passed them by. They were sitting pretty close to the beach, and while, for most people the sea breeze sweeping off the shore was calming, they both couldn’t help but feel nervous.

“So are we cool then?” he asked her.

Nina rolled her eyes, disgusted that her brother would even ask something like that after what he had said to her back at the house.

“No, we are not cool…” she growled.

“You listen to me,” he said shuffling towards her, “you getting emotionally involved has got us off track. I still can’t believe how stupid you were… ”

“Whatever,” she huffed. “It was stupid, I know that and I’m sorry.”

“Right well, we get back to the original plan and this time we stick to it. I don’t know what the hell has gotten into you, but I’d like to have my old sister back if you don’t mind…”

She’d had just about enough of him patronizing her, but she didn’t say anything. She sat there and kept her thoughts to herself.

Jake heaved a sigh of relief when he saw Johnny and his mates finally make their way towards them.

“Johnny…” Jake said cheerfully as he stood up. “Good to see ya mate…”

The guys crowded around Jake and pushed him around playfully.

“Good to have ya back Jakey,” Johnny said casually slapping his hand.

“You up for a game of footy before we hit the beach mate?” one of the guys said shoving a rugby ball in his face.

“You think you boys can keep up with me?” Jake laughed as he snatched the ball and ran off.

While the boys trailed Jake to the far side of the park, Johnny lagged behind, hoping to catch a fleeting moment with her.

“Hey you,” Johnny smiled at her.

“Hey,” she said shyly still sitting on the bench.

He looked over at his mates tackling each other and joking around. “Listen, I promised the boys that I’d go to a gig with them tonight down in Yabbie Creek, but I was thinking that maybe we could meet up afterwards?”

Just being around him made her heart melt, a feeling that even though it was wrong, she desperately wanted to hold onto. But reality, out of nowhere punched her hard in the face.

“Johnny…” she frowned. She tried hard to come out with the rest of the words, but they stagnated in the middle of her throat.

“You know that sounds really good…” she said suddenly smiling. “You just text me when you get back into town and I’ll just meet you then okay?”

“I can pick you up…” he grinned.

“No, don’t do that,” she said quickly as she stood up. “I’ll just come and meet you. Have fun tonight okay?”

As she walked away she shot a vicious look at her brother knowing he had kept a close eye on them the whole time.

Johnny walked up and put his hand on Jake’s shoulder. “You missed a really good job the other night mate,” he laughed. “I hope you’re sticking around for the next one?”

“Yeah mate,” Jake grinned. “Can’t let you get all the good action eh?”

Karl jogged alongside them with the rugby ball. “Who’s getting what action now?” he asked trying to join the conversation.

“It’s nothing, we were just kidding around,” Jake told him.

Karl smiled at him, unconvinced with his answer. “You know Jakey, your sis is pretty hot. I was thinking of asking her out. You think she’d go for me?”

Johnny and Jake both gave him a foul look.

“You don’t really want to do that do ya Karl?” Johnny said trying to disguise his initial reaction. “Chicks only get in the way and cause trouble…”

“Besides, my sister is off limits,” Jake snapped. “And that goes for everyone…”

Johnny looked away guiltily and pulled Jake away from Karl. “Listen mate there’s some stuff I wanna go over with you about the next job…”

The two guys walked off towards the beach leaving Karl to ponder over his thoughts. He was Johnny’s go-to guy, not Jake and the fact that things had changed made him angry. He was going to prove to Johnny that he still had it in him. He was going to prove that he was badder than Jake, and he was going to prove it by going after both of their precious siblings. And while he was at it, he’d deal with the chick from the surf club as well.

Just caught up and this fic is still fantastic it really has me hooked. I want to like Johnny and I sort of do but then he makes me dislike him again. As much as I want Ric and Matilda to be together I really like her relationship with Rocco. I cant wait for the next update, you really do write well. :D

Fantastic cliffhanger! And great update, Adia. The conversation between Nina and Jake was very real. You know, I’m going off Jake, he’s too wrapped up with what he wants all the time...:P
