“There a problem here lady?” Johnny asked her.

That was a great line. Really created the tension.

“Nah uh uh,” Karl said waving a a finger at him. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you. You remember what I did to that chick last year, the one that ended up in the psych ward…? I can easily get your little girlfriend and ruin everything for you. You know how much I like sweet fresh meat…”

OMG, Karl gets more and more evil!

The whole night I've been reading this fic and I have to say: You are an amazing writer! This fic is really good!

I feel sorry for Ric; He is always there for Matilda and he feels so much for her. It's a shame she doesn't feel anything for him.

And a baby Holden!!

I also think Beth is overreacting.

ChapterOneHundred:

Matilda walked slowly along the beach. She used to love walking along, leaving a trail of her footprints in the sand as the light of the sun glistened over the calm sea. At one point she had loved the solitude of her early morning walks, but now every time she was alone, her head just seemed to be drowning in sorrow. She was alone and she had no idea how to fix everything.

She sat down sadly watching the water disperse itself on the sand.

“Hey Maddie,” Nina said smiling as she walked up to her. Matilda remembered the first time that she had seen the girl. As if she were some angel that appeared out of nowhere. Even now she was still perfect. Still mysterious. Her dark hair flowed behind her gently caressing the wind, and her dark eyes flashing small glimpses of deep intense secrets. And just like everyone else, Matilda had been drawn to that.

“Hey,” Matilda said quickly wiping the tears from her eyes. “Looks like I’m not the only one skipping Maths today.”

“I really could not handle another quadratic equation,” Nina grinned. “I kinda needed some time out anyway. What’s your excuse?”

“I just…I wasn’t feeling well,” she said sadly.

Nina felt like saying something… anything, but instead she just nodded knowingly.

“Actually, there’s something I wanted to ask you,” Matilda said trying to change the subject. “I really don’t want to stay at Sal’s anymore, it’s kinda crowded there. I was just wondering if I could crash at your place again?”

Nina nervously bit her lip. “I’ll ummm, I’ll have to check with my brother first. He’s not exactly house trained. But I’m sure it’ll be okay. Your mum still giving you grief about Rocco?”

“It’s best that I just avoid her right now. Every time we see each other we just get angry.”

“You know, she’s probably hurting as much as you are… getting angry is how most people deal with things when they’re scared.”

“I know, and I miss her… but I love Rocco… I just don’t know where to go from here…”

“I can tell you one thing Matilda. You don’t want to go back there…” Nina said rubbing Matilda’s back comfortingly.

“I know…”

As the two girls continued talking a beaming Martha walked along the sand in front of them, gently rubbing her stomach thinking about the life that was growing inside of her. All that time she had been persuading Jack for a baby, it had been there all along, secretly hiding until just the right moment. Martha couldn’t help but think about what her baby would look like; what it would be when it grew up… the stories that she would read it before bed time…

The past present and future of her baby was already made up in her mind. No matter what happened, everything would be perfect.

The excitement in her was just bursting to come out. She couldn’t wait to tell Jack. She knew that he’d be over the moon and they had so much to talk about now that their dreams had come true.

“Martha!” Jack exclaimed when she finally walked in the door. He had been standing at the kitchen bench making some drinks before he rushed over and hugged her tightly.

“Did everything go alright at the hospital. I got worried when Rachel said you needed to go and clear your head. Not bad news is it?”

“Rachel didn’t say anything?” Martha smiled as she put her bag down on the couch.

“No she didn’t say much,” Jack said shaking his head. “She just said that I should ask you about it when you get back.”

She took a deep breath. The excitement was already jumping out from every inch of her skin.

“Jack there’s something I need to tell you…”

“What is it?” he asked worried.

“It’s… It’s…” She wanted this moment to be perfect. She had thought of a million different ways to tell him the news as she walked home, and now her mind was blank.

“Are you going to say it or do I have to guess?” Jack teased.

Just as she was about to open her mouth, someone walked out from the bathroom and interrupted her precious moment.

“I hope you’ve got my drink ready Jacky boy!” the guy grinned.

Jack went back to the bench and handed the guy his drink. Martha looked at the floor as if she had just had the biggest disappointment of her life.

“Hiya,” the guy said cheerfully to Martha.

Martha flashed him a half smile, half scowl.

Jack put his arm around her. “Martha, you remember Ash don’t you?”
