Thanks for your really really nice comments! :D

Computer hog is out, so I'm stealing some time on the net.

This chapter is especially for Ms Becky.... :P

ChapterOneHundredSixteen:

“Well that’s great mate,” Ash grinned. “So when are you officially back?”

“Tomorrow,” Jack said flicking through the diner menu. “They might even partner us up.”

“We should celebrate tonight,” Ash said gleefully. “Drinks at the surf club?”

“I don’t know mate,” Jack told him. “I don’t want to go back on my first day with a hangover.”

“What’s this?” Martha said interrupting.

“Jacky boy is back at work,” Ash smiled.

“Really?” Martha said surprised. “When did all this happen?”

“This morning,” Jack told her. “I was gonna call you and tell you.”

“But you decided to tell Ash first?” she snapped.

“Well gidday to you too,” Ash scoffed.

Martha rolled her eyes and turned to walk away.

“Martha wait,” Jack said rushing after her. “Don’t be angry please.” She looked into his gorgeous eyes and managed a wry smile.

“You have some serious grovelling to do Holden,” she insisted. “Preferably without your handbag.”

Ash flashed her a dirty look and a surge of delight ran through Martha’s body.

“Okay, well I have the rest of the day free,” said Jack. “Why don’t we grab a basket from here and head down to the park or something.”

“And we can talk right, just the two of us?” she asked.

Jack glanced over at Ash who sat at the booth rolling his eyes.

“Of course just the two of us,” he smiled.

“Great!” she exclaimed. “I’ll go and see if Leah can put something together for us.”

“She really doesn’t like me does she?” Ash said as Martha walked away.

“You didn’t make the best first impression,” Jack squirmed. “But give her some time. I mean, she hated me when we first met…”

Ash laughed and got up out of the booth. “Well I guess I better head back to the station,” he moaned. “Not that there’s anything exciting going on…”

“Have there been any leads on the diner robbery? Or the surfclub robbery?” Jack asked.

“Not yet,” Ash yawned. “But the forensics results will be back tomorrow hopefully.

“Are you ready Jack?” Martha asked holding the picnic basket. “We should really get going…”

Jack flashed a sorrowing look at Ash, before he took Martha’s hand and walked with her out of the Diner.

“You don’t have to be so hard on Ash,” Jack said as they walked to the park.

“Here we go…” Martha said rolling her eyes. “I’m sorry Jack, but I kind of miss having you to myself.”

“This looks like a good spot,” he said setting down the basket. He watched her as she knelt down and started setting everything up. “I’ve missed you too…” he said quietly.

He sat down next to her gently stroking her hand as he held it in his. “I know it’s been tough lately…” he said guiltily. “I’ve been stressed about work though you know. That job means a lot to me, but I’ve come to realise that you mean so much more to me than any job…”

“Awww, Jack,” she smiled. “I know I’ve been cranky lately. And I really don’t mean to take it out on you. There’s just so much going on. I think I still haven’t had time to deal with everything that’s happened to us this year…”

“It’s been pretty full on huh?” Jack agreed.

“I know. And we didn’t exactly get off to the best of starts did we?”

“But we’ve over come all that and we still love each other so that’s something…”

Martha took a deep breath and put her other hand on top of Jack’s.

“Jack I love you more than anything else in the world… even when you have a big annoying pimple attached to you called Ashton Nader…”

Jack laughed his head off. “Hey that’s not scientifically proven…”

“But seriously Jack,” she said containing her laughter. “I’ve just always wanted everything to be perfect between us. Sometimes I’m scared that I’ll lose you…”

“That will never happen,” he told her. “Through sickness and health remember?”

Martha took their intertwined hands and place dit on her stomach.

“Morning sickness included?” she blushed.

“Huh?” he said confused.

“Jack! I really think McGrath should rethink giving you the detective’s job…”

“Are you serious Martha?” he said shocked. “I mean we only just started talking about the idea…

“It’s why I was sick the other day,” she told him. “Rachel confirmed it…”

“This is great!’ he beamed. “I’m gonna be a Dad!”

“I’m so glad that you’re happy!” she said hugging him. “I just thought over the last week or so… maybe you’d changed your mind about it…”

“No way…” he said holding her close. “There is nothing that can ever come between us now…”

Lol, sorry! I meant... like Martha was happy that she upset Ash with that comment... I am waaaaaaay too scared of Becky and her shotgun to even think of that scenario...

Boring filler chapter up ahead...

ChapterOneHundredSeventeen:

Karl waited nervously at the end of the bar, his head down, trying to avoid eye contact with the other customers. Even as the girls danced around him in their skimpy outfits, he knew that even looking at them would spur on too much emotion for him to handle. He couldn’t afford to do anything crazy in such a public place…

A man sat down next to Karl and motioned to the bartender. He pulled the black beanie off his head and ran his fingers through his dishevelled sandy brown hair before tucking the beanie into the pocket of his dark leather jacket. He turned and looked at Karl, his deeply set hazel eyes glaring intensely at him.

“Glad you could make it,” Karl whispered.

“This better be good,” the guy snapped at him as his drink slid in front of him. “I thought I made it clear that I wanted nothing to do with you…”

“Look bro…”

“I’m not you bro after what you did, you sicko,” he said callously. “The only reason you haven’t been touched is because of Johnny… you took a huge risk coming here alone… accidents happen you know…”

“I thought you’d be glad to see me Chopper?” said Karl. Chopper turned around and signalled to three big guys in the corner. In no time they had converged on Karl and stood around the two men like bouncers outside of a night club.

“Like I said… this better be good…”

Karl chucked an envelope on the bar. “The money I owe you…”

He hesitated before he picked up the envelope and flicked through its contents. “That’s a start… doesn’t mean I like you…”

“Come on Chop I’m your brother…”

“You’re also one sick twisted psycho…” he snapped. “I’ll never forgive you for what you did…”

“I said I was sorry!” he argued.

“Get out of my sight dickhead…” Chopper got out of his chair and pushed Karl to the ground. As he grabbed his collar, he raised his fist threateningly.

“Chopper! Please!” Karl pleaded kneeling on the ground. “Please! I have something else for you…”

“If it’s not what I want to hear, then you’re gonna get it…”

“What if I said that I could bring down Johnny? You could get control of the gang…”

“What? What are you on drugs? You remember what happened last time I tried to take down Johnny Cooper?” He threw Karl to the ground and pointed at the long scar around his neck. “You’re crazy… I don’t have time for this crap…”

“I’m serious man… Me and you… we can have everything… like we always wanted… like we planned…”

Chopper gave a quick nod to the other three guys around him, who quickly descended on Karl and held him down.

“Okay, okay…” Karl gasped as one of them held him in a headlock. He was tempted to tell his brother about Johnny’s relationship with Nina, perhaps Chopper would feel more inclined to agree if he knew that Johnny had a weakness… but even in that moment where he was close to pleading for his life, he decided to keep it to himself.’

Chopper took a sip of his bourbon, and casually rested against the bar. He rolled his eyes and shook his head in annoyance.

“Karl, Karl, Karl…” he sighed. The guy that held Karl tightened the headlock as the rest of them stood there laughing. “Does Johnny know that you’re being a bad boy?” he sniggered.

“Chop, come on man,” he begged, wheezing for air. “I promise you that I know how to bring down Johnny. Isn’t that what you always wanted? I just… I thought it would make things right between us…”

“You’re the one that caused the rift between me and Johnny in the first place…”

“I didn’t mean to…”

Chopper smiled wryly. He took a long deep breath before suddenly lunging at Karl and kicking him hard in the chest. The guy holding him dropped him and Karl rolled painfully around on the ground. Chopper knelt down next to him, steadied him, and put his arm around him.

“You sent my girlfriend to the loony bin,” he whispered maliciously in his brother’s ear. “She won’t even see me because I remind her to much of you… of what you did you sicko…”

“I don’t mean to do those things!” he pleaded. “I can’t help myself… you know that Chop…”

“You should be dead right now…”

“Please bro! Please… I’m sorry…”

He laughed and stood up, patting Karl hard on his back. He looked down at his brother and held out his hand. Panting, Karl took his hand and stood up next to him.

“You always were god for a laugh,” Chopper said dusting his brother off. “You serious about Johnny?”

“Yeah,” Karl smiled. “I virtually have it in the bag…”

“So what’s your plan?”

“You’ll see Chop, this time I won’t let ya down…”

“But you need me in case Johnny comes after you right?”

“Well…”

“At the end of the day, you’re still my brother,” he said quietly. “If you’re gonna bring Johnny Cooper down, then I want to be standing right there with you. We’re blood remember…”

“Yeah,of course,” he said cheerfully. “I’m so glad you’re with me on this…”

“First thing’s first though,” he said firmly. “I know that Jake Rogers is hanging out with the gang… I want you to get a message to his sister…”

“Anything Chop, anything…”

“Tell her to meet me here, next week… I have a proposition for her…”
