I finally had the chance to update, been busy for like two weeks and had no time.

Chapter 15:

“Hey” Jack said finally looking up at her, he could see that she had been crying and he hated it when she was upset.

Martha didn’t reply, she just left him standing there, she walked over and sat down on the couch. She watched as Jack followed her and sat down on the other end of the couch. He reached out and picked up her hand. Martha watched their joint hands, she was definitely going to miss this and this was why she didn’t want to leave. She quickly pulled her hand away, before she got completely lost in the moment

“Look Martha I know you’re angry b-“Jack began but Martha cut him of.

“Angry, why would I be angry” Martha replied sarcastically, letting out a laugh. Of course she was angry. She was angry that Ashley was back, she was angry that Jack had cheated on her even if it was along time and she was mostly angry at herself, for falling for him all over again. “Why is she here?” Martha wanted to know.

“I don’t know, we just saw her down at Noah’s and she came up to talk to us” Jack explained to her, he knew it wouldn’t fix it, nothing would. “I’m sorry” Jack whispered, not actually sure why he had said it.

Martha didn’t reply, she just looked down at her hands, what was she supposed to do or say. She felt Jack’s hand on hers, why did he keep doing this? She couldn’t think when he was touching her, and she was feeling things she didn’t want to, right now she just wanted to forget all of it, Jack and Ashley.

“What are you thinking?” Jack asked he couldn’t take the silence anymore; it was beginning to scare him. He didn’t know how Martha would react to it all, he could see she was angry, but what did it mean for them, surely she wouldn’t break up? He didn’t think he could loose her again; he had only gotten her back.

“What would you be thinking, if you were in my situation?” Martha snapped at him

“Martha” Jack began “I don’t want her here either, trust me the second I saw her, I knew it would cause problems. Just tell me what I can do to make it up to you” Jack pleaded.

“I hate it Jack, I hate her. I don’t even want to see her or look at her and that’s how I feel about you as well. Every time I see you now all I can think is you two being together” she told him, trying to control her tears.

Jack stayed quiet he knew Martha was going to keep going and the truth was he didn’t know what to say to make it better, Ashley wasn’t leaving anytime soon.

“I actually thought I could forget the whole thing, but I can’t especially not now. I don’t know how to say this” she told him, not bothering to look up, she knew he would be looking right at her.

“Say what?” Jack asked worried.

“Ja..ck, I can’t do this” Martha finally replied. “I can’t go on pretending it didn’t happen, it hurts too much and I don’t want to go on pretending everything’s ok, because it isn’t.” she told him the truth.

“It is Martha, I mean it will be, it won’t happen again, you have to trust me, you do trust me right?, I wouldn’t do it” Jack said unsure, he wanted to hear it from Martha that she trusted him and wanted to be with him, it would make this all easier.

Martha stayed quiet, she couldn’t lie to him, she didn’t trust him, not with other girls and especially not with Ashley.

“You don’t trust me do you?” Jack asked raising his voice and looking away from her disappointed.

“I want to trust you Jack, I want to be with you, but I can’t I just can’t do it” Martha felt as if she was going to loose it any second, she tried her hardest to keep the tears from falling, but it was too late.

Jack moved closer to her, he picked up her hand and used the other to make her look at him. He ran his thumb across her face, wiping away the tears. “Martha, I don’t want to loose you, I love you” he told her, hoping it would change her mind.

Martha tried to move away from him, but he pulled her in closer. His hands wrapped around her, keeping her from running away, he just wanted to cry with her. Martha finally pushed him of. She didn’t want to be so close to him.

“You don’t hurt someone you love” Martha told him. Jack stopped to looked at her, he hated this, why couldn’t everything ever work for him.

“I wouldn’t do it again, I would never cheat on you again” he told her, trying to reassure her.

“That’s what you said last time” she snapped back at him. “Look where that got us” she added. Jack was beginning to get frustrated, he didn’t know what to say, whatever he said she always had a comeback to destroy it.

“You have no idea how it felt, when I walked in and saw you two” she told him, remembering the memories.

“Martha I wasn’t myself, I was angry at you because of the argument we had, I was drunk and not thinking properly, it’s not like I had sex with her” he explained to her.

“Well, that would have happened if I didn’t walk in, right?” Martha replied. Jack let out a sigh of frustration. “How much times have I been drunk, I never cheated on you” Martha added.

“I know it doesn’t excuse what I did, but I wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t for all that” he replied. “You know what, if you actually think I would do it again, your crazy, you obviously don’t know how much I love you and how much I regret it, but that probably doesn’t mean anything to you” he snapped at her.

“Why are you getting all angry at me, how is this my fault” Martha snapped back at him.

“You obviously don’t care, I told you I wouldn’t do it again and I won’t you need to trust that” Jack replied.

“How can I? You don’t give me much reason to” she told him.

“So what this is it, we are just going to end it here?” Jack asked, getting angry, he couldn’t believe it had come to this. Martha looked down not knowing what to say. Jack took that as an answer

“Why did you do it Martha?, why did you take me back then?’ Jack snapped at her. “If you knew you didn’t trust me, you should have said so, but no instead you kept going on like everything was fine, then when we get into an argument you bring it up”.

“Maybe if you had told me before, I wouldn’t have gotten so attached; you think this will only affect you, that’s right because you only think of yourself. You think you’re the only one that hurt when we broke up, I was hurting as well, hoping one day you would take me back, I tried my hardest and now when I finally have you, you are just going to throw it away, because you don’t care” he replied, maybe he didn’t mean all those things, but he wasn’t angry.

Martha still hadn’t looked up. “As long as you don’t get hurt everything is fine, you haven’t even suggested of giving me another go, you just want to take the easy way out. You know what Martha I don’t care anymore do what you want” he finished of.

Martha couldn’t help but let all the tears fall, she couldn’t believe how he was thinking. Jack moved closer to her and made her look at him, by lifting her head up. “Look at me” Jack snapped at her

Martha slowly turned around to face him, she was covered in tears. She looked right at Jack. He suddenly felt bad, he hated seeing her cry, it juts broke his heart. But there was nothing he could do, she wasn’t even willing to try and fix tings, so why was he going to be the only one to care. He stood up taking one last look at her before leaving and slamming the door.

Once he had left, Martha laid down on the couch and let herself cry.
